Posts: 1660 Location: central Wisconsin | Well I did fish open water today. water temps between 50 and 55 degrees. I had one small sub 30" on for a few seconds till it jumped and threw the hook. A lot of guys fishing, everybody I talked to got skunked.

Posts: 173 Location: Green Bay, Titletown, WI | I had the same water temps. Saw a few mid 30's males cruising the shallows, none of them were paired up either. I got skunked...

Posts: 1220 | Lost what may have been a decent fish in the lake, then went to river and did net a 38 just so the opener would not pass without a catch.

Posts: 50 | Got out at 5:30 and by 7:20 we had moved 2 and caught 1 that was 33". Saw 1 other low 30's caught about 7:45 and then they basically shut down. About 2 p.m. we caught a 20" large mouth and about 6 p.m. we moved a 40" muskie. After moving a few around early I had high hopes, but the muskies had different plans I guess. I'm also sure the way too many sailboats on the lake didn't help, as they cut off large chunks of fishable water for a decent time. Here's a thought, don't have a huge sailboat event on the busiest lake in the state,on opening day of fishing. Seems ill advised to me but to each their own. Edited by enice 5/5/2013 6:40 AM

Posts: 410 Location: one foot over the line | Fished Petenwell for 10 hours, temps ranged from 51-55, never saw a muskie. We did take 30 min. to hammer a bunch of stripers that at least bent the pole.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Fished 4pm to 8pm on pewaukee lake with good sucess. Moved a couple muskies, caught a 35-inch, a nice pike and a 21-inch largemouth bass. All the action was around 7pm. Then it shut down. This afternoon I plan to fish the same hours. Lots to do around the house, garage and yard rite now. The afternoon bite is always better in the Spring.

Posts: 2308 Location: SE, WI. | Mike; That word "always" is going to get you in Trouble...LOL Moved 3 musky Sat. Between 10;30 am and 12 noon. Moved 4 on Sunday Mourn. Most fish were between 36 - 43, But no takers. Talked to 2 boats that did really well. One boat had 4 boated by 10;30AM...and the other had 5 boated before Noon. Most people I talked to never seen a fish after 12 noon Sat...Hmmm! Except for NE winds, conditions were excellent. Edited by jdsplasher 5/5/2013 1:16 PM

Through the ice, or were you actually able to get a boat into the water? ![]() TB Open water on a couple lakes in the area. Some floating ice chunks here and there, and VERY cold water fro 39 to 41 degrees. Walleyes were all males staging on the breaks.

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | We saw 6 Sunday morning before 9:31 AM, but no strikes. It was great being out on the water again. Mr. Worrall, Debbie and I are looking forward to our Federal Express shipment of wrapped and frozen walleye filets should your freezer become "Capacitorially Challenged"! Posts: 880 Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | No ice on Pewaukee. Spent Saturday in Neenah picking up my buddy's 619 and didn't fish till Sunday. Caught 2 small muskies one of which the slamner was half it's size, it's amazing that they attack baits 1/2 thier size. The other 2 guy's we're throwing girly baits and caught 4 bass, one was 20 inches. Wednesday night muskie league should start soon..... Bruce

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | Was out Saturday and Sunday on Pewee. Got 2 on Saturday, both in the morning. Nothing huge, a 32 and 35. Cranks and gliders in less then 6 fow. Got 2 shorties on Sunday, one on a bucktail and one on a slammer. Both shallow. One early and one around 1pm. Saw 3 others on Sunday and got a super fat largie as well. Gonna do some exploring today, but the other lakes have muskies spawning for sure, so we'll see what happens.

Posts: 143 Location: La Crosse, WI | Fished Pewaukee on Saturday for the first time with a buddy who lives down there. I didn't have any luck but my buddy had 3 follows and caught a little 27 incher. Also caught a 18 inch smallmouth. Went to Oconomowoc on Sunday just for a change of scenery. No action on muskies but my buddy caught a 19 inch smallie and a 15 inch largemouth. We did see a bunch of muskies under the dam and throughout the channel that runs into the lake. Pretty neat to see, I'm thinking it will get good down there in a week or two. It was fun to fish some different lakes and to finally get some baits wet.

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | In early spring the view at the Okauchee Lake Dam is the ultimate candy store and tease for muskie fishermen. There are many times that the bridge overlooking the dam should nearly be closed to vehicle traffic due to so many viewers. Edited by Steve Van Lieshout 5/6/2013 9:57 AM

Posts: 1039 | Pewaukee kicked my butt pretty good. My wife had a small follow in the Am on Saturday. Then she had a hit that didn't hold. I had a little "bump" and came back empty. Did catch a cute 15 inch smallie and a 32 inch pike, though. Got one heckuva sunburn on Saturday and I have to admit, after ten hours of casting, neither one of us was going to roll out of bed to do it again on Sunday!

Posts: 143 Location: La Crosse, WI | It was definitely neat to see! We didn't see any huge ones, a couple in the low 40 to mid 40 inch class along with a bunch of mid 30 inch males. Some of them looked really beat up from the spawn and others were very clean. It was like looking in an aquarium. That was worth the trip down alone.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Sunday afternoon I got out from 5pm till 8:30pm. Action was good for pike (2) and bass (2). One muskie hit on the first few cranks of the reel. Had a good battle going before it came unhooked. Huge boil and disapointment but that's fishing. Raised two other muskies also. Ok "afternoon bite is always better" as I stated in a earlier post might be pushing it. Lets just say I usually do better in the afternoons than mornings in spring. Opening weekend is the exception. Weird year so far. Most fish I have seen and heard of caught have been very clean. No real signs of spawning on east end fish. Others who have been fishing the west end have seen and caught scared up fish. Strange because the east end of Pewaukee warms up faster than the west end. Guess we had a bunch get it going during that warm up we had earlier.
