Spent most of my time in the seminar room listening to Sunday's All-Star lineup of Burns, Lindner, Pearson. The seminars are much easier on the ol' pocket book :) Also enjoyed the lure demo in the swimming pool.

| Congratulations ToddM, I think that this was the first show
which I can remember that you didn't buy one Slammer!
I will ambush you in Milwaukee with all those new custom colors! Get a second job while you can for some extra cash in antisipation of the show![] [] [] |

|
| There was lots of good stuff at the show.
I bought 6 new rods:
2 -- All Star 8'6" Extra Heavy
1 -- G Loomis 7'10" Extra Heavy
1 -- Lamiglas "Paul Hartman" 8' Extra Heavy
1 -- G Loomis 7' Medium Bucktail
1 -- St. Croix Premier 8' Med-Heavy
I got good deals on all of them (3 of which I bought at the Swap Meet). Like every year, the guys at Thorne Bros. were cutting some good deals if you talked to their people on the floor.
Lures:
3 -- Beaver Tail Spinnerbaits
1 -- Beaver Tail Magnum -- Wahl copy
4 -- Phantoms
2 -- Mag. Bulldawgs
3 -- Super Mag. Bulldawgs
1 -- Rad Dog Spinnerbait
4 -- CJ Spinnerbaits
1 -- Beavertail Buzz Bait
1 -- 6" Reefhawg
2 -- Guides Pro Choice Custom Suicks
1 -- Guides Pro Choice Custom 10" Believer
2 -- Shallow Invaiders
1 -- Esox Angler Lakewood Monster Box
3 -- Thorne Bros. Titanium 48" Trolling Leader
I think that's it.
I don't like to see people bitching about show prices.....how "in the good ol' days, we used to get stuff for dirt cheap, now everything is so high priced"....today's tackle is 100 times better built than 30 years ago. So it's gonna be more expensive. But anyone who bought something at the show and paid full price either didn't think to try to deal with them, or didn't think it was worth their effort. Believe me, all you had to do was ask for a discount, and they'd give it to you. Sure, I was turned down once....when I asked for a 40% discount on a bunch of lures, but the owner came over and gave me %25. It was worth asking. Saved me $35.
I saved lots of money by purchasing things I needed at the show. All vendors were there. Nothing ever goes on sale at Guides Pro Choice, Rollie and Helen's, or Reed's. But everything at the show could have been purchased at a considerable discount from typical catalog prices.
I had a great time. It was nice seeing everyone again. |

Later,
