Posts: 159 | OK--getting a little cabin fever here--can't wait to get back to the cabin... One of the things the wife and I look forward to is hitting our favorite lakeside establishment---which happens to be --"The Landing" on Lake Vermilion. Amazing atmosphere, crazy fish fries, specials during the week--the coldest tap beer ever--(not a drinker but were on vacation lol), super nice view of the lake---boats always coming and going--docks outside--public landing right next door--a cool little bridge leading up to it....tables outside....always filled with others on vacation who are in a great mood.... Really good service, nice owners, just 2 minutes from the cabin---Sports/weather on TV---Good tunes.....Can't wait to get back up there---just screams--good times/vacation!!! Before moving up to Big V---Bosakies in Minocqua was always the favorite because of above mentioned reasons.... What about you.....Always looking for a new spot or two.....

Both decent food and nice places to grab few beers. after a short try as Matt Morgan's ... "The Boathouse" in Minocqua (formerly Bosaki's) will open under new Owners and Managers in the next month or so. Word is that it is a group with a great deal of experience so hopefully this one will stick. the old Lakeside Landing on a Sunday afternoon with Marvin playing on the grass and Dougie tending the bar was my favorite. or listening to Tuck at the Whale on Wednesdays after a night on the water.

Location: SE Wisconsin | 12 Pines on the ER Chain has great pizza. Foolery's is a great place for a fatty burger and a beer when you're on Okauchee. The Sports Doc on Pewaukee has Black Angus beef patty's for a solid burger, and they also have bison burgers. Pine Harbor and The Jailhouse on Boom Lake/Wisconsin River are both fun stops for a beer and bar food. Jailhouse makes the cheesiest pizza I've ever had - anywhere - ever! Musky Shores on Squirrel Lake is another stop we always make when we're on that water.

Posts: 192 | Deerfoot on Chippewa Flowage is a good spot for lunch. About 10 years ago we stayed at Deer Run, also on the Chip and there were some crazy story tellers in that place. We need to get back there somethime. We stayed at Treelands this year and that is nice also. I was the only Bears fan in the place during the game last season and they all wore me out.

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | I would "second" the vote for the Hillside Resort on Vieux Desert. It has the log cabin "up north" interior 1950's atmosphere that would be impossible to create with new construction. Unfortunately a few years ago fire took the original Holiday Bar on North Twin Lake. It had similar atmosphere only on a bigger scale as the Hillside, but the current Holiday Bar does quite well for a rebuilt classic "up north" eatery!
