Posts: 300 | Just getting everyone's opinion on their favorite walk-the-dog. I really like the Salmo Maas Marauder. I've fished a few others, but always go back to the Salmo. I've also been thinking about picking up a Water Moccasin. They seem a little lighter weight than the One Eye Willy.

Variation on the question: Can anyone tell me why the Doc is inferior to another brand of WTD bait?

Posts: 458 | The Swan - 3/12/2013 9:36 AM Variation on the question: Can anyone tell me why the Doc is inferior to another brand of WTD bait? I lke Docs and have caught fish on them. The only downside to a Doc is that they are light and can get blown clear out of the water by the fish. With all that being said I throw a Doc pretty often and have added longer and heavier hooks to mine. I also like Wabulls, Weagles and the Salmo Marauder.

Posts: 682 Location: Sycamore, IL | I throw jackpots ALOT and have decent luck but miss a few fish. I also have a 8"weagle which I don't throw alot because of the weight/ size. What is a WTD bait that is heavier than a jackpot, but lighter that a weagle? I was thinking the regular fishstick might be the ticket but, haven't seen one in person. Thanks

Posts: 3480 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | I will take an 8" weagle please....either stink pickle or cash... I have found there is a little variance in the buoyancy of the baits, to which finding the right balance with weight can make all the difference in the "swoosh" of the lure. I have two that I own, and My stink pickle is a tough more buoyant than my cash... They both have a good swoosh, though... It's all in the swoosh!! Steve

It is missing the third hook near thea head. You can of course modify it and add that hook which makes it a much better bait. Without it the hook-ups are worse. To me it is much harder to work and get it to do what you want when you want. I like the 'lil doc more than the regular doc.

Note though that it is about the same size as the weagle, but lighter. I have not thrown the reg. size fish stick so I cannot tell you to use that. I have found no need to go smaller that the HD.

Posts: 87 Location: Red Wing, Minnesota | Try the Havana Jack then. It's the same bait & manufacturer but in a larger version. Easy to work bait.
