| Holy cow Jeff...you are still out there. Nice to have ya on the board again..
Count me in....Worrall had to drive me to Bemidji Sat. nite of the Cass Lake outing. 5/0 in the finger and when the Dr. pulled it out the pliers snapped and the hook went..tink,tink,tink,tink...bouncing around the room. It was in there deep and hard..[:knockout:]

| Not this past season but the year before and three years before that.
The first time I went to the ER (St. Joes in Chippewa), one nurse asked me if the fish were biting. I said yes. She asked what I was fishing for and before I could tell her, the other nurse said "looks like suckers!" HA HA, very funny lady just get the frigging thing out of my thumb please.
The second time, I was viciously attacked by rogue sucker while taking hooks out. I believe he acted on behalf of all suckers, I imagined, as this guy was thrashing good. Too deep to get out so it was off to Hayward Memorial. I didn't feel so bad though after seeing the guy who tried to take his leg off with a chainsaw.
I'm happy to report that the rogue sucker became a Muskie meal a few days later. Sweet.

| Is it possible to be a member of Hand Hookers Anonymous if it doesn't penetrate past the barb and is trip to the horsepistol required ? |
|
| |
|
| You can add me to that list. [:blackeye:]
Long story shot. Went back to cast and hooked my dog. She came running up to me and embedded all three sets of trebles of the baby DR into my left calf.
Shot myself up with a good drug and went into Eagle River Hospital.
You should see the size of that hook board....lot of hooks.

| It happened to me last year. I already had a fish unhooked and I put my hand into the net to take the lure out before taking the fish out for a picture and it trashed then and as i was pulling my hand out I noticed I had a hook in my thumb. To be honest, I didn't even feel it go it. It only hurt when i moved it around. For the most part it was pain free (luckily) I had a bass manage to hook me past the barb this year, but I was able to rip the hook out. Now whenever I unhook a muskie I have heavy leather gloves on so i can't get the hooks through me. If its hard to get the pliers to a hook I can just use my hands to pull it free. |

| Add Theedz to the list.
About 7 years ago, in the middle of January no less, I got a great deal on a new bait at Gander Mountain. Unfortunately, I don't remember which bait it was. Anyway, being the smart musky dude that I am I decide to sharpen hooks before it goes into the box. In walks 103 pounds of Chocolate Lab (God rest his soul) and decides it may be something that he needs. He runs up sniffs bait and gets poked in the nose. He jumps back and proceeds to set the hook, to the bend, into my thumb. Needless to say, trip to Fort Atkinson hospital to remove. I sat and watched the doctor pull it while my wife proceeded to get sick just listening to him trying to pull it out.

| Went in Canada coast me about 300$. The next time I took it out myself. [:knockout:] |

|
| Add me to the list. About 5 years ago I got hooked to a fish because somebody used my pliers and did not put them back in my box. Was mad too cause the action heated up and that hook was not budging. The doc had a hard time with it too. He got bloody himself.
I was hooked briefly just past the barb this year to a fish. I jerked it out relly fast. A little tear but was ok. |

|
| count me in 7/0 in my finger, the doc bent his cutters so my partner had to get the knipex out of my boat. |
|
| |
|
| You can add me to the list. I think it was around 1989 or 1990 up in Minoquca. A spreader bar hook on a LeLure globe said hello to my thumb. I must have learned something however, it's not happened since![;)] |
|
| |
|
| Add me to the list....about 6 times in my first 3 years. I once had two hooks in my leg, and one in my hand, from an 8" ReefHawg. I thought it would be cool to hand land a 43 1/2"er!
I was able to pull two of the hooks out of my leg.(They cut a nerve while doing knee surgery 20 years ago, so I'm like Adam Sandler in Mr. Deeds....no feeling) Anyway, I could get the one out of my hand, and I was 50 miles in on a very large lake. Mu buddies convinced me that a bottle of Jack Daniel's would make it all better. It did, the next day I awoke with a nice little bandage on my hand....and NO HOOK!!! [;)]
Then there was Herbie. He got a hook in his calf once, while I was fishing with him....he built a tent with his skin, pushing so hard, but still couldn't penetrate. He then had me hang on, and twist the hook as hard as I could, and he used his pocket knife to cut through the skin. Tough little bastard for sure....I'd of passed out I think! [:sun:]

| I'm in- once when I was about 16, hooked up to a daredevil(pike fishing)-> trip to local ER. Then again in 1997 on Canadian flyin, hooked up to 5lb smallie via a #14 Rapala on my left ring finger. Fishing partner refused to pull it after he got the fish unhooked. Said he thought he was going to be sick! So I made him hold my finger down and I pulled it out. God it felt sooooo... good when that hook popped out. A bandaid & we were back fishing. Been fishing barbless ever since. Can imagine what a 4/0 or 5/0 attached to a + 40" muskie is like->[:0] [:knockout:] Since then have stuck myself a couple times & no major problem removing the hook. Definitely makes unhooking & releasing the fish a lot easier. Barbless is the way to go!!

| I embedded a 5/0 treble into my palm about 6 years ago. I was hand landing about a 3 pound pike when the fish decided to take off. Good thing it wasn't a big fish.
When I got to the ER at about 10:00 that morning, I was already the 3rd fish hook victim of the day! |

|
| How about hooking my wife in the head!! At least it wasn't a muskie bait[] We were floating the Black River, in Taylor Co. fishing smallies. Me in the back of the canoe with a spinning rod and Rebel Wee-R. On the opposite shore I see a really sweet rock/log jam, stand up, wind up as hard as I can since I've got to get that little crank all the way across, let go and WHACK. Nothing from the wife yet, think I dazed her, ask if she's ok, says I think so. Pull the boat over to get a look and 2 hooks on both trebles are deep into her head through a hat. Make an attempt with the hookouts, and I get an earfull. Paddle 2 hours straight to the truck, and 4 hours later hooks out, still married and she still fishes with me[] |

| It has been awhile, I think back in the late eighties on Bankson Lake Mi., a 35 incher took revenge on me, I was going to try a quick water release when she decided to put a waterdog crankbait in my arm. I was lucky she got off right away, the problem the hook was buried deep and the way it was postion I couldn't push it through to cut off the barb, so to the hospital, I went but was back fishing in about an hour and half. Hey you got to take advantage when they are hitting (A muskie nut). Good Fishing, Al[:p] |

| It's been about 6 years since I had to have one removed in ER, the last one was at Howard Young. Now being the ever resourceful paramedic I carry an amp of 1% Lidocaine, Betadine, 3cc syringe, 18 and long 27 gauge needles. I just do the job myself right on the water and keep on fishing. |
|

|
| I'm a life member. I've done the hospital run on 3 different occasions. It's been about 5 years since the last time, so I'm probably due again soon. Next time I'll post pics like Ranger did!

| I am in.
Howard Young Medical Center in Minoqua did a fine job removing the hook that was twisted and lodged underneath the bottom of my thumb nail. The only charge was $63.00 for the tetnitis (sp) Of course that was back in 95. Next time I will make sure I am fishing also.

| I was fishing a bass tournement and got a 4/0 hook throught the thumb via a 3.5 lbs largemouth. My partner pushed the hook through, cut the barb off and pulled the hook back out.
I kept on fishing... |

|
| Took this one out myself. To chep to go to the doc. and didn't want to stop fishing. [] |

| I had a very interesting beginning to my season this year. Went out by myself on a TC area lake and ended up hooking a northern in the 10 lb class on a 9" suick. He had all 3 trebles strapped alond side his face in but like a fool I hand landed the fish and brought it into the boat (big mistake). Got two of the three sets of treble hooks out right away and made for the third, but, oh no! The fish flipped up and away! Two of the three trebles in my forearm with the fish still attached! BUMMMER! OUCH! Had to take a ride to the ER and got some great pain relivevers! Lucky to have good insureance! |

| Add me to this list. Three years ago in the National Championship Musky Alliance Tourny in Eagle River my partners lure untied when he casted, and the Mepps Musky Killer he was throwing damn neer nocked me out of the boat. Caught me right behind the ear. Tried for a good 5 minutes to pull it out myself, but it would not budge. The best part is when I went to the Eagle River Hospital, they asked if I had been there before (for my personal info I would guess). I told them yes, last year when my outboard unlocked and slammed down on my hand! It's kinda funny being in the computer at a city you live 150 miles from. |

| I am a two time winner. Once through the middle finger on my right hand and the other in my ass. Both were 5/0 VMC. Both required trips to the ER. The second time was as embarassing as it was painful. That's another stroy all together.

| Can't say I've had to go to the hospital with a hook IN me....but have gone because of a hook that went ACROSS my finger! Was fishing a private lake in WI during a work week when I worked in social services.....brought the boat up cause I had a sneaking suspicion of pigs on the prowl. Hooked a fat 42.5" (my first over 40" at that point) over deep water, thought I had fought her out, and then as well as now I can't seem to find a way to net a fish when by myself....picked her up in a nice Pistol Pete Jaw Lock, one head shake and I felt something touch my finger. Thinking I had a small cut I did that weird reaction (unless I am the only one who does this) thing where I put my finger in my mouth (moron in the boat, 20lb. fish in one hand, other hand in my mouth), which then filled with blood. The hook had gone to the barb across the length of the last portion of my middle finger. Luckily it hadn't gotten buried, but when I took the finger out of my mouth, a FOUNTAIN of blood arched through the air (think Saving Private Ryan). I drop the fish (I know, rookie mistake) which is now kicking like a bas*ard in the bottom of my boat...fish pulls the hooks from the bait, I put the fish on the tape.....then with both hands throw her into the water. Bad release, but the score was even, I got her, she got me back. I'm still spurting blood all over the place, I fire up the motor, and head to shore.....I wrap my finger in an extra shirt, and let out the war cry of vicotry! 8 hours later, after driving home, I go to the hospital (almost passed out when I got home) and they tell me though I should have gotten 8-10 stiches, its tooo late now!
And to put in another point, I have gotten bit and hooked, and gill raked so many times in Boro's boat that his First Aid box actually has "ANDREW" written in big letters on the top.
