Posts: 267 | Howdy, If you could go ANYWHERE in the US or Canada for the entire season, spending one week a month from May/June-October/November under the following restrictions WHERE WOULD YOU GO? RESTRICTIONS: 1-Drive to location, 2-Reasonably scenic at a minimum (more scenic preferred), 3-Limited boating hazards (or at least marked hazards), 4-Good fishing for Muskie, Pike, Walleye and Bass, 5-More casting than trolling, 6-More weed fishing than rock fishing, 7-Good numbers with a reasonable shot at a big fish for all species mentioned, 8-Dog friendly resorts, 9-Good docking facilities, 10-Great customer service, Take care, Ruddiger

Posts: 682 Location: Sycamore, IL | If I had that kind of time I would spend it lake hopping in Vilas co. I am sure that there are some resorts up that way that would meet your criteria. Sounds like fun... Matt

Posts: 173 Location: Minnesota | I went to Split Rock Lodge on Lake of the Woods in nestor falls. Its about a 7 mile boat ride to the island. Its dog friendly the resort owners are really nice. The best part is we caught smallmouth, walleye, and muskie right from their dock! We only fished a circumference around the island of about 2 miles and caught hundreds of fish.

Posts: 1207 Location: Pigeon Forge TN. | Right here in the Forge where I am. Can fish year round great people and all the goodies mentioned in the post. We have a lake with a 50 inch limit. Got about any fish you would want to go after in good sizes. Even Stripers. Happy where I am.

I don't know if I exactly understand all of your question, but if I could spend a solid season--June 1 or earlier to September 30 or later--it would undoubtedly be Lake of the Woods. Maybe--from what I have read--Eagle Lake in Ontario offers as much, but all around, I doubt it's much more. Remember you have to be reasonably close to a town or the bikini model your're there with will get upset. (There must be a bikini model--and a nice one.)

Central Minnesota! Tons of musky lakes from small to big! You can find many lakes with good musky action and great smallie, walleye, and largemouth action as well. Many of big and small resorts as well.

Location: Eastern Ontario | I have very good fishing where I live wirh a good lake and a good river section within 5 min. of my house and another lake and 3 good river sections within a half hour. For late season I am within an hour and a half of the 40 acre on the Larry. However I would like to fish June July and Aug with Doug Johnson on Lake of the Woods and Sept Oct Nov and Dec with Mike Lazaraus on the Big O and the Big Flo. Although Ihave played this game for 30 years I think there would be much to learn from these 2 men. Unfortunately it's not going to happen because I squandered all my money on crooked running crankbaits.

Posts: 434 Location: Omaha, Nebraska | I agree with LOTW and I prefer Split Rock Lodge also. Overall great resort with awesome owners. And you don't have to go far at all to catch muskies, pike, walleyes, and smallmouth!

Posts: 42 Location: Ontario | I spent 5 season's on LOTW, 1 on Lake Nipising and 3 Novembers, Decembers on St. Clair. LOTW is great lots of numbers but big fish aren't as easy as ever show would have u think. Nipising has a major Native netting problem but some really big fish do avoid the nets and are there but the numbers are weak. St. Clair well 6 X 50's and 4 X 49's in 9 days says it all big fish. Scenic wise LOTW and Nipising are close LOTW has less cottages but more lodges both have alot of hitable rocks. St. Clair if you like water theres lots of it. Wiley Point Lodge on LOTW is top notch food and accomadations and pet freindly. Chaudiere on Nipising will allow dogs at a higher rate. St. Clair I stay in hotels so don't know about there Edited by keithtrophyfishn.com 1/4/2013 9:57 AM

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | At one week a month I would take the LOTWs and move around, with maybe a week at Lac Suel. LOTWs is probably one of the seven fishery wonders of the world. Lots of fish of many species, with big fish potential for all. Very scenic with lots of wildlife (bear, deer, eagles, etc) to keep you entertained between fish. However, there are also a good number of slightly underwater rocks that what to hit your lower unit so you need to read a map. I've fished it for around 50 years, and I'm still finding new spots. Lots of great resorts on different areas of the lake from simple to exclusive. The resorts on the Mn side can be found here. http://www.lakeofthewoodsresorts.com/services.html I'm sure that there are many other places that are great also, just my opinion. Doug Johnson

Posts: 335 Location: Minnesota | LOTW or Eagle - (or one of many other northwestern ontario lakes) would be my first choices if scenery, solitude, and serenity were important pieces of the puzzle. Each lake is different but there are numbers and chances at trophy size fish. LSC - I have never been there but the image I have of LSC is very urban although there are lots of big fish Vermillion - big fish, pretty lake, but there are people everywhere and the musky spots are crowded - if you don't mind sharing spots with other boats all week and seeing lots of people everywhere you go - this is a decent choice - definitely chances for big fish. It all depends on what you value most. Personally I would go to NW Ontario but if you are just looking for muskies it sounds like LSC is the place to be.
