Over the past few years, they are getting much looser with information out east. In the past these fish went under the radar. Always fun to see the pics.

Apparently is not as big as stated, typical guy that's never seen a true 50 lbs that thinks its a world record.

There was a 57 3/4 x 25 3/4 caught several weeks ago by a guest on Cpt Dave Curtis boat , a 54 x huge , by Ace Brunner and another 54 1/2 x 29 1/2 ? on a fellow from Windsors boat , The rumour of the new record started a few days ago , still haven't seen any pic's , maybe they are waiting till the season is closed before they share, so someone won't catch one a 1/4 in bigger LOL

Posts: 415 | Anybody have any real info yet? Seems like a lot of hints and assumptions but nothing factual. If it is real then why the secrecy? In the era we live in today pictures and the real story of a fish like this gets out within hours, even minutes sometimes. The more this drags on with no actual info the more skeptical I become.

I think a few fish of thise size are taken each year out east and released. It is a different culture and catches tend to stay on the down low. BR

It's naive to believe that every big fish makes it, or should make it, to the internet. Ben's right - the muskie culture is entirely different in eastern Canada then the American muskie culture.

Location: Sawyer County, WI | Did Ben say "eastern Canada" or "out east" ? To think that Canadiens don't report large fish but Americans do is equally naive. I see how it could be interpreted that way. Clearly not every big fish will make it to the boards/internet. I take issue with the fact that people *expect* it to be made to the boards. Probably shouldn't involve countries in the discussion, because at the core is the expectation that if someone catches a big fish it should make it to the internet and when one doesn't people get their undies in a bundle because they can't see a picture. Personally, I'd love to see a photo of a 65lber. Who doesn't? But if the angler chooses to not post it, I'm OK with that and won't think anything of it. It all adds to the mystique... maybe they really do get that big!

Posts: 415 | The only reason I "expect" it to be on the internet is because of the people on here teasing about it and talking about this fish, and because of the person who started this thread. Never did I think so many people would get bent out of shape about me asking where any real details were, I guess I should have expected it on here, my bad. And also, I have a cousin who fishes the St. Lawrence religiously and never posts about anything they catch so I have an idea of the "culture" out east. All I'm saying is it is really odd (and pointless) to leak tiny bits of info about a potential record fish, put it on various sites, then not actually give any real info. I also completely agree and like that people don't post every big fish they catch. I personally won't post any myself and respect others right to do the same. Calm down guys.
