Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | The fourth annual MuskieFIRST Spring Bay Resort Fall Outing got underway this afternoon as Spring Bay Resort welcomed a full camp. Congratulations to Rudy as he stuck this 53, a new personal best for him to kick off the outing Wednesday afternoon. The weather doesn't look pleasant over the next couple days with lows dipping below freezing tonight and hovering around the freezing mark over the next few days. Highs are expected to be in the 40's with winds staying under 15 mph. Water temps are running the high to mid 40 degree range and have been falling steadily over the last few days. Stay tuned for daily reports as things happen throughout the next four days! Attachments ---------------- 147.jpg (94KB - 149 downloads)

Posts: 956 Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | Rudy can't fail!!!!!! Nicely done!!!!! Sucks knowing my regular fishing crew is at Spring Bay the same time as the M1st crew and I'm not a part of either team this time around. If you see a mixed up bunch of guys from Chicago that are so f'd up, they're both sox fans and ......................Packer fans.............Yeah, thats them. three of them are brothers and I have a feeling their mother had butter fingers and likely dropped all of them on their heads one time too many. Its all good. I love them like brothers. Joe K is in a 20' Alumacraft Trophy w/200 Merc. say Hello. Dont think theyve seen much muskie action but theyve been on some nice walleyes for sure. Cant wait to see more fish. Im extremely jealous as Im on the D/L and stuck with Dr's appointments etc. I should be there. (way behind on deer season as well because of it. GGGRRRRHHHHH. Go Get em Boys. (And girls???)

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Windy and snow was the name of the game today. Fishing was a bit slow according to the Natalie cabin but still waiting on reports from others. Congrats to Terry Watson on boating her first muskie ever, a 48 incher. Tonts23 scored a 47.5 and 39 inch pike while Top H2O also boated 35 incher. Tonight's weather is calling for a low of 19 with a high of 47 tomorrow and south winds at 14 mph. Posts: 4266 | Sounds like perfect conditions to me. Hoist up your long-johns and get in the boats, the days are short and the stories are long by the fire at nite. Great time of year. Have fun whether catchin' fish or catchin' hell. What r they eating? Beav & Taylor too Edited by Beaver 10/12/2012 3:41 AM

Big fish wear Rudy out, he beat the doc to bed last night. Rudy was not a very good host.

Posts: 38 Location: NW Iowa | I agree, Rudy was a Poor host and wouldn't stay up. Doc was a little slow this morning since he stayed up 3 hours past his bedtime(even though he was told to kennel up):). Fishing is tough but it's a great time with a great group of guys. Hopefully this afternoon we can boat a few and get more pics.

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | If you've never made a MuskieFIRST Outing at Spring Bay Resort, you need too! The fishing may have been a bit tough this week following the front that moved through on Thursday but the laughter that followed after fishing hours is well worth it! Congratulations to Rudy on his 53 incher. Rudy takes home a free stay for next year for the biggest fish of the week. A big thanks to the Joe, Steve and the whole Amundson family for another superb outing! Attachments ---------------- DSC_9687 (Copy).JPG (108KB - 135 downloads)

Posts: 38 Location: NW Iowa | It was another great Outing with an extremely fun group of guys. TopH2O put me on a nice fish and I got a bonus video of it. I am already looking forward to next year and the good times around the campfire, listening to Jerome and TJ BS in the front of the boat and learning the "Jerry Jig".(Video coming soon right TJ). Most of all thanks to Steve and his family for everything they do for this event. If you haven't been to Spring Bay and the Big V you are missing out. See everyone next year!!!

Posts: 2753 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | dtaijo174 - 10/13/2012 9:12 PM Can someone explain what happened here? Well this is just a wild guess-> Steve in his good camp operator mode some years back decided to provide his guests with a convenient way to tell the temperature, i.e., other than Burrrrrrrrrrr! So he drives a nail into this pine tree to hang a thermometer on. This naturally starts a chain reaction, pine beetles invade the tree, and ultimately their grubs are gradually killing it. Rudy has ran out of suckers, and no one will lend him any because he's already bagged a 53"r. He comes swaggering along back to the cabin (actually I thought of a different word), see's the tree and has an Ah Ha! moment - pine beetle grubs, I can catch my own #*^@ed suckers. You see the results of his efforts to capture those grubs. That's my story and even though I wasn't there, I'm sticking to it! Well- maybe a bear! Have fun! Al

Posts: 399 Location: WI | Even without seeing a musky, it was a good time. Kinda scary about the tree, at least it wasn't somebody's truck, boat, or a cabin. Good to meet a bunch of the M 1st faithful, now I undrestand some of the comments. G-Rome, we didn't see a 69 on the way home. Great hospitality from the Amundson family. Hope to see you all again next year.

Posts: 1169 Location: New Hope MN | Quotes from the outing: Feel free to add ones you can remember. Tonts: Jerome, just stop talking. Mike: Louie, are you going to bed? Louie: Wouldn't you like to know! Dave: Jerome, just think what you did to her self confidence. Louie: I'd be naked already! Tonts: Doc, kennel up. TJ: Let's go to Rudy's cabin
