Plain grey zip front sweatshirt. As a rule I don't pay to be a walking (casting) advertisement of other people's products.

I fish naked, it tends to keep people from cutting me off or fishing too close to my spots. When it is necessary to wear clothes, I have tend to use hiking/climbing clothes. It is light, comfortable, and effective in the elements. BR

Pretty much 365 days a year...St Croix Shirt, Mercury Hat, Ranger Jacket. There are times when my wife says, "enough already" when I wear it to bed but getting a wife was a lot easier for a so-so not-the-best angler than getting those sponsors!

Military surplus and Carhartt, but then that's pretty much what I wear everywhere, everyday.

Actually, I've seen Steve wear some of that bullet-proof Frabill Storm-tamers on what I thought was a pretty warm and calm June day....but, I think he is a tad older than me so that's OK!

It's been a long time, but from what I can remember...
Summer wear: always tough denim slacks, Timberland shoes, and a Gander long sleeve fishing shirt. When it cools down a Columbia Mountain Sweater. Then throw on a Lands' End squall jacket (very useful). Meaner, a rag wool sweater under the squall jacket and a St. Lawrence knit cap. Rough would be a goose down jacket or hunting parka, with sweater under it, and the knit cap. Long underwear and 6 inch boots.

Nothing better than summer fishing barefoot!! Usually a white t, shorts and flip flops is my fashion statement on the water... I do have a liking to the Under Armor Pants/shorts as they are comfortable along with a hoodie. Any hoodie will work! I just love that evening summer breeze, shorts and fishing barefoot!! Falls great big fish time but I'm sure gonna miss summer!! Can't stand the snow and long winters!!!!

I've fallen in love with Columbia PFG gear. I'm the guy who burns after about 2 minutes of sunlight and the long sleeves work great and keep me cool all summer with the ventilation. Light blue and tan. A good lightweight convertible pants is essential as well for cool mornings and warm days. I've moved to a gortex boonie cap to keep my neck and ears from lobsterizing as well. Of course, if someone wanted to sponsor me I'd gladly wear whatever they gave me!!!

Summer: I like the really thin BPS "World Wide Sportsmen" shirts. They're only good down to about 60 degrees, but when it's hot, they're the most comfortable thing I have found. Also like the thin convertable pants. Gortex Hikers.

Jeans/Hoodie for when it starts to get cold.

And then, in November? Polypro tops/bottoms, wool socks (Millitary surplus) Wool pants, zip fleece, insulated bibs/parka, 8" insulated hunting boots, neoprene gloves. Also have an old pair of the wool millitary gloves with the leather gloves that go over them. Those things are WARM.

No matter when or where I am fishing, I carry a dry bag for the layers that will eventually come off and go back on at some point during the day.

Worst days are the ones that start off in the 20's, warm up to 55 and sunny with no wind, and then back down. You're either going to be cold or hot. Maybe some of both.

It just seems no matter how hard we try we always are advertising for something. From jeans to trucks we are all paying. Like you, if I like a product I will promote it and might even wear a shirt displaying their logo, if it is comfortable.

I usually wear MuskyManiac shirts and sweatshirts. We came up with the logo and had a buddy who owns a business promotion place make us shirts, sweatshirts and bumper stickers.

Who wants to look like an idiot when you catch a 50#er and your picture winds up on the front page of Musky Hunter, Esox Angler, Muskie Magazine, all over the internet, and hanging on a wall somewhere in your house for he rest of your life?

(it's lucky I haven't caught one like that - I look like an idiot in pictures no matter WHAT I do!)

you have to be careful or you could end up wearing a plain orange tee shirt and hat from a bait company that is no longer in business when you post a picture of your personal best

I try so hard to just move on from it....but,
Just so I understand the thought process here......you won't wear a logo or name brand item because "you won't be a walking advertisement of other people's products."

But it's OK to be an internet posting advertisement of other people's products? It's different?

Like so many posts I read, I'm missing something here.

And then along came the fassion contest comment and that did me in.

Dont let it get to you, Mark - you're talking about people here who will go out in all kinds of weather, spending thousands of dollars to go out and cast lures that cost $20 each at a fish they might not even see that day. When they DO catch one, all they do is put it back in the water. Half will catch a 47" fish and call it 50", the other half will look at a picture of a 47" fish that someone else caught and call it 42". To make matters worse, most will tell you that everything you are doing and all the gear you are using is wrong, and the only "right" way to catch muskies is to do exactly what they do. If you catch big fish, it's only because you fish trophy waters and got lucky a few times. If you catch a lot of fish it's only because you fish numbers lakes and count the fish other people catch in your boat. Whatever rods you use, someone will tell you tell you the rods THEY use are better. The same goes with reels and lures, motors, boats, trucks, and even clothes.

I don't know what it is about muskie fishing, but somehow, most muskie anglers have the attitude that muskies did not exist in the world until they started fishing for them. So, the fact that you don't understand the rationale behind some of the comments? I'd be much more worried if you DID.
