Posts: 209 | Smallmouth for sure. Especially in small rivers, and even more especially on topwater. Slayed them the other day on a Pop-R in a river that I can almost cast across. Can't beat it. Sturgeon are fun too, but I don't fish for them, of course ![]()

Posts: 639 Location: Hudson, WI | Just got back from our family Hayward trip and had temps between 78-82 on the surface. Fished muskies in the early morning on two of the days, but the rest of the trip was spent with the fam slip-bobbering the weed lines. Caught 100 plus eyes in three days, plus a bunch of bonus smallies and big perch. It was an absolute blast. It had been a long time coming to just kick back, drink a beer, and spank the eyes. Might just be the Croix and my area lakes, but this year has been the absolute best walleye year I have ever had.

Tough question. It's hard to beat a largemouth on a Spro frog in the pads. It's fun fishing for smallmouth, too. Don't have any pike locally, but they're fun to catch on trips. Got into crappies and panfish this Spring, but haven't put much effort into it recently. I really want to catch a walleye. Never targeted them and they aren't very thick in my area, but I'd love to catch one.

My second favorite thing to fish for would have to be river smallmouth, especially on a topwater. Looks like you guys have been catching some good fish, sadly down south with the sustained water temps in the 87-92 degree range the bass have been extremly difficult to catch this summer.

Posts: 383 Location: SE Wisc and Vilas County | i would have to say spring steelhead on the drift rod in the spring. then if i was fishing inland it would be the smallmouth hands down.

Location: Northern Wisconsin | Usually river smallies from my kayak or wading. But lately, due to low/warm water in Northern Illinois I am leaving everything alone, except largemouth and catfish.

Location: Minocqua, WI | Nice smallmouth Vince! HAHA. walleyes all winter and steelhead/browns in the winter/spring before inland opener, then walleyes and smallies... and then the musk... OF COURSE!

Posts: 410 Location: one foot over the line | Put a 45lb flathead in the boat at 2am the other night along with a few other 8-15 pounders. I'll fish the pannies when they are running. fished a bass tourney the other day, but nothin beats them big cats until i can get on some muskie water.
