I'm trying to get a consensus of everyone's favorite bucktail. I caught my biggest on a cowgirl, but love the action I get on a mepps. I know there are a lot of different brands out there, and is there really a difference in them?

DCG for me. But I started making my own, so I'm sure that will change, as lately that is all I have been throwing.

My homemade bucktails. Very satisfying catching a fish on something you made.

There are minor and some significant differences among all of them, and the variety of replies should give you your answer - there is no consensus!

Gotta love the Llungens.

I couldn't disagree more. I've pulled every one I own from my tackle boxes since after a half a dozen casts the blades deform and don't spin any longer. This has been consistent on about a half a dozen of them.

I have used Spanky Baits for quite some time and have not been unhappy with any of them. While attending the Michigan muskie show on the first day, there were approximately 50 paid entrants all day. The show started at 3pm and went until 9pm. I watched Dan, the owner, start making bucktails for customers as soon as the doors opened and never stopped for 4.5 hours straight! These things are built to last and the guys on St. Clair know it.

I used to run DCG,Showgirls and supermodels. All I throw now are esox assault bucktails, I wont be going back to anything else. Mepps are in their own catagory, always keep them handy.

1) Voodootails - Casting - My deminishing collection
2) Spanky's - Trolling
3) I am working on a project to build my own with some help on tying - Hope to be as good as the first two, but slightly different.

Pics attached of the home made I assembled with some help from a couple of excellent tyers.
