Paul is fishing another event today, and will have the full results to us later. I'll have them posted when I return from the Merc Nationals.

Here are a few images and some data:
Picture One:
A cool picture of Larry Dahlberg with a 43" on the St. Croix that landed him in 12th

Picture Two:
Here is Kyle Schellenberg who had a 47.5" and 43" on Forest Lake.

Picture three:
Here is Gene Buchert with the Metro Muskie Big fish winner- a 50" from Eagle Lake

Nice pictures. I really wish I would have known before launching that bald eagle had been poisoned the night before the tournament...Very frustrating day for us.

Thanks for the update Steve, looks like the results are way different than what was posted before.I read earlier that there were 3-53"ers.And 8 out of 10 top fish were from Waconia.Looks like Eagle got top lake this year.

I believe that was 3 years ago when that happened.

Yes, that was pretty much the end to all of the big fish in Waconia...

No kidding there horrible people???...they have only provided us with the best metro fishery for muskies in the united states, and probably the best muskie lakes in the U.S. Thank you MNDNR for all your work.

All reports I've heard are good fishing on Bald Eagle this week...numerous fish caught. Keep in mind people use resources differently and muskies and other sport fish are managed...sometimes to the detriment of other types of lake related activities. Weeds make swimming less enjoyable. Deal with it. They don't HAVE to stock muskies; in fact I'm surprised they don't have fish free recreation lakes. No fishing allowed! Jet ski access only! Can't we be happy and thankful for what we got?! Right on Pedro...Thanks MNDNR and especially Muskies Inc. Muskie fishing is still better than ever!

Let's not and say we did. The city is a great oasis to get away from the crazy pressure that near 500 anglers put on the resource that weekend not to mention the pressure the entire first week of those pre-fishing. Now their is no place in the metro to go to get away from the craziness. Don't say Tonka!

I agree. I fish Rush to get away from the tournement that weekend. I have nothing against the tourney but leave a couple lakes available for those of us who don't want to fish it. Especially since Rush has another muskies, inc. tourney on it just a week or two later.

The North Metro Chapter has a small one day tournament on June 23rd I think. It is only $15.00 bucks to enter. In the past there have been on average about 20 anglers max for the tournament. I don't believe that it adds any pressure before or durring the tournament to the lakes.
For more information look up the North Metro Muskies Inc chapter.

Good Luck

I would also hope Paul doesn't add the city lakes to the tournament going forward. 467 participants pounding the existing lakes this year.....

Guys pass your concerns on to Paul has far has adding the other waters next year hes always willing to listen

has somebody who was born in so mpl's went to mpls'south high I too am protective of the city lakes and the quiet, however I know alot of people who wont mess with em they spent 30 grand on a boat and they wanna hear it scream Ive been told this by alot of musky guys there are Rangers out there but 'boys will be boys' and they wanna go somewhere they can put up a rooster tail.

I would however like to see someone do an Aquatennial tourney which is only fitting for a celebration of City lakes in would be cool to do it on the "chain' and have half the money used for stocking extra fish which I think we could get permission for

Ben,
I was being facetious because of the source of the question and the fact the guy obviously knows the answer already.

Of course I know what the announcement was.

When Paul is ready, a press release will be published.

For all you guys so concerned about not adding other lakes to the tourney because of the pressure. GIVE ME A BREAK. It's ONE day. ONE day.

Minnesota musky season is open for 6 months. Quit complaining about the amount of fisherman and "pressure" on these lakes for ONE day.

Geez

To receive a "Sned", or indeed to be "Snedded", involves being subjected to a tirade of both baffling and, quite often, largely rambling and inaccurate scientific waffle.

Musky midget,
One weekend day in the month of June, why not have the tourney in the month of August how about the third weekend in August. I wonder why it has never been at that time of the year?

Probably because water temps are too high in the Metro in August.
