Last night my boat was ripped off. 2006 Triton Tr21 eXecutive dual consoles w/ Mercury 225 ProXS, midnight blue with silver Triton logo red pinstripes, with dual axle matching fiberglass fenders. I live in the suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota and when I went to hook up to it this morning, which isn't garaged kept, no room, it was gone. From 10:30pm last night to 6:00am this morning, somebody decided it was better for them to have it. From what I found out in the neighborhood, is that a boat was stolen last spring and it was found in Wisconsin months later stripped clean.

I'm in totally disbelief right now and can't really feel any emotions. All my rods were in the boat, the fiancee is sorta upset that her one rod was in there.

I'm sure nobody will find it since it's probably already tore apart someplace in Minnesota or most likely Wisconsin.

Enjoy your boats, you never know when they will be gone.

bobby

Speaking of locks, what brand/type do people recommend?

Hope you get it back soon and unharmed!

I had insurance through Worldwide Marine. I'm covered good with the insurance, it's just tough to have my dream boat taken from me. Everything I wanted, this boat had.

I'm willing to bet it's a big crime ring working the east metro, then bring everything over to vacant barns in Wisconsin to strip them clean. It's pretty sad that people can do these type things.

Sweet boat. I really like the Tritons myself. Glad to hear you're covered but I can understand the heartbreak.

Back right into your driveway, hook up, and drive off. That takes some balls. So, I wonder how soon this boat will be re-listed... I'm sure somebody will get a "steal" of a deal on it.

This is TERRIBLE news! So glad to hear that you are insured, but every time something like this happens, insurance premiums go up a bit more for everyone. Insurance companies shouldn't have to pay for this--because there should NOT be theft! The ugly side of human nature is rampant in some areas, and I wish we would have harsher punishment for thieves like this.

Anyway, thanks for reminding everyone who reads this thread to double- and triple-check the security of their rigs...and also of their insurance policies. Make sure you pay your premiums folks!

I really hope you get everything back cabela10, but that seems less likely in this day and age...

I woke up the other day (6am) and before getting in the shower I noticed a guy outside my house at the end of the driveway in a hoodie just kind of milling around and I watched him slowing walk across the street make a phone call and maybe take a picture of my boat....It's got me quite worried he was casing either my ride-on mower or my boat or both.

I saw something once where a guy put some nuts around the lock on either side saying it would make it a lot hard to cut with bolt cutters, so I quickly went and did that, I also moved it to where I could also chain the trailer to a post...but I know if they really want it there isn't much I can do to stop them. Been tough to sleep and I know I might be over reacting but if I wake up one day and it's gone, I'll be looking for that guy in the hoodie until I find him.

I to am very interested in an locks (brand name) that make it tougher to steal my baby.

Thanks and sorry to hear my worst nightmare has happened to someone else.

Do you have a home security system? We have, but I am not sure how easy it would be to protect a boat sitting outside the garage. But you might call and ask one of these outfits anyway.

Here in our neighborhood in Green Bay, we've had some thefts over the past 5-6 years we've been living here. We have noticed that the flags get raised on mailboxes around the time that these things happen. But the houses WITH the flags up, are not those that get robbed apparently. It's either that and/or the ones with dogs. But it's happened a couple times now, and sure enough--you'll here of someone getting robbed some days later.

Obviously, a home security system might not provide any protection whatsoever for a boat sitting in the driveway. But maybe there is some way they could give you at least *some* protection? I'd call and ask.

Wow. Unreal. This certainly is TERRIBLE news man. To think someone or a group would actually have the b_lls to do something of this nature in nearly unbelievable. I feel really bad for you and I'm very sorry to hear it.

If you don't have room to keep it out of sight and garaged it's double the troubles. I couldn't imagine...

I wish you the very best in the resolution. Crime of this nature cuts a guy to the core b/c there's little that can be done w/o getting yourself into deep trouble. Tears at the guts to imagine what you'd like to do to those involved.

I'm really sorry to hear this crap.

Jeremy.

Timely find, on the Mercury website:

http://www.mercurymarine.com/gauges-and-controls/rigging-accessorie...

Doesn't help cabela10, I know. But maybe it will help someone avoid this terrible problem in the future. I know I am certainly going to look into it more...

I know this is not feasible for everyone but if you have a swing away tongue make sure you are opening it up and putting the pin back through and locking it up! That makes it virtually impossible to steal!

Man, that totally sucks. Sorry to hear that. Not making light of your situation, but there is a way to prevent this from happening.

x2, also motion lights and real obvious locks with heavy chains if it can be seen easily from the street. Also, parking a car in front of it at night would help as well. Make sure your boat is not only harder to steal than the other guys, but you want the deterrence highly visible as well.

As much as it sucks now... boats can be replaced and nobody was physically hurt or injured.

My dad uses the Bull dog and has had someone try to get at his trailer but the thieve was unable to break or cut the lock off, now the lock just has a few scuffs but it shows it worked! He said the lock comes with a guarantee up to $25,000

Unfortunatly, my boat sits outside next to my garage. We also have a sudden increase in thefts the past year due to some folks moving in and don't have jobs, so i guess they need something to do with their time. Actually had a tool set stolen out of the back of my pickup while parked in the driveway. Now, I have a reconyx game cam aimed at my boat (with the invisible infrared flash). It was spendy, but $600 to watch over a $60k boat was cheap peace of mind.
If I caught someone messing with my stuff, they'd better hope the law gets em before I do.
