Posts: 170 Location: Valparaiso , Indiana | The last time I was out a couple days ago it was low 60s. Heres a couple of fish I got last week. They've been feeding. Seems like one small feeding window each day! Attachments ---------------- 01.jpg (126KB - 912 downloads) 02.jpg (155KB - 365 downloads) 03.jpg (83KB - 220 downloads)

Posts: 73 Location: Northern Indiana | TrentM. - 3/21/2012 10:56 AM Where are they located? Dropoffs? Are they in a normal eating mood of regular sized baits, or are they in an early spring mood of small baits? My father and I were out on Sunday afternoon for a quick trip and the water temps on the surface were in the low 60s. We forgot the temperature gauge to see what the water temps were at deeper depths. We put a 42 in the bag and had a follow from one other fish. One fish came off a shallow flat in about 4-6ft of water, and the other came off a break in about 17-20ft of water. I'm sure there are plenty of fish in open water too, but we didn't contact any. We were throwing "regular sized" baits. Jonathan

Are they in a normal eating mood of regular sized baits, or are they in an early spring mood of small baits? Both of my fish were caught in 17 to 22 feet of water. We had most of our action on regular sized baits. That was a week ago. The water temps are on a steady rise and will push most fish shallow. DNR has their nets out 2 weeks early this year and are getting lots of muskies right now. I've also heard, from a couple people, of muskies pairing up in the shallows. The spawn will be early this year!

| Temps now are upper 50's. Fish are starting to be a little more active. Seems maybe the spawn is winding down. It seems to me this has the makings of what could be the best spring in a long time. | |||

Posts: 147 Location: Chesterton, Indiana | Hit Bruce lake over the weekend. The temps were 55 - 56 degrees. My cousin and I saw a total of 10 muskies with 7 being follows and 3 others cruising the shallows. I even seen a couple that were paired together sitting in the shallows. No luck with getting a fish on but a good day none the less to be on the water.

| On 04/20/2012 Wester was 60. I would imagine it has dropped to around 58 by now with declining temps. Fish are being caught on all lakes. Don't be disgruntled by having few or no follows. They are hitting small bucktails, rattle baits, and glides. Some action starting on top also. | |||

Posts: 170 Location: Valparaiso , Indiana | Water temps on 5/5/12 were 65-67. Real warm for this time of year but the muskies like it! Here's a couple pics of a 49 1/4" I caught on 5/3/12. Very clean for a Indiana fish. Edited by jmuskieking 5/5/2012 9:21 PM Attachments ---------------- DSC09173.jpg (161KB - 237 downloads) DSC09176.jpg (160KB - 297 downloads)

Posts: 52 | We went to Bruce Lake yesterday and the water was 68.5 everywhere. It was the day of the LAZY follows! We had a dozen lazy follows, but could not seal the deal. We never had that many follows in one day. Most fish were 38"-42", but I even had one little guy, a 26"follow. We gotta figure this out!! ha-ha

Posts: 84 Location: Buffalo Grove, IL | I fished the two Tippys and the Barbee Chain yesterday with the same results. Lazy follows all day long. Saw at least a dozen fish, but they wouldn't commit. Very frustrating. I think the big storms that came through right before sunrise shut them down for the whole day. Most of the day was light winds and cloudy which is about as good as it gets except for the fish part.
