Bondy Baits are primarily used for vertical jigging, but you can cast them as well. You just have to watch getting them hung up. Depending on what part of the river you're on it's not very deep. If you get in deeper areas I'm sure it will produce. What stretch of the river do you primarily fish?

Posts: 58 | The southern half rite above the MD line, below the safe harbor dam but above the holtwood dam, I c holes up to 50 ft. While im trolling, just couldn't ever really get down to the fish, alot of guys I no catch sum enormous flatheads but never really hear bout any musky, do ya think they inhabit the same holes!!! Got a black n a atomic dawn, do those colors tend to produce?

Posts: 100 | I would be carefull pulling up Musky any deeper than 20ft down as this may increase the chance of mortalitty. As far as Bondy baits go a good tip I heard at a seminar was to pitch them as high in the air as possible as the commotion that they make from hitting the water attracts musky, especially if they are feeding. It makes sense that an apex predator would have little to fear and would see something creating noise as a possible meal. Reminds me of a story of a little girl who was dangling her toes in the water. It seems that the red toe polish attracted a musky to bite her. Makes you realize that sometimes we think the fish are way smarter than they are.

Just like fishing for other species there may be times you require more precise positioning to make things happen. Very difficult to longline baits and get them to follow all those nice irregularities on breaklines or over those deep humps/holes plus it keeps the baits in their faces longer.

Posts: 1405 Location: Detroit River | They've been known to catch a few muskies on occassion. Watch the first 2 episodes Online of Keys Outdoors for this season & you see Spence Berman catch a couple on a Bondy. Also watch the Next Bite episode "Going Vertical for Metropolitan Muskies" & you see Zona & Schram both catch several muskies on them. They never mention the Bondy Bait in the show but they catch the majority of their fish on them. Bondy Baits also catch other Bondy Baits. ![]() ![]()

Posts: 286 Location: VA | Bondy baits are great. When you have a follow that hides under the boat just drop it down doesn't take more than a couple of jigs. ![]() Congrats Jon!

Posts: 242 | John, Congratulations! I have two little girls and they are the joy of my life. Also, I think Tackle Industries came out with an 8 XH muskie rod that has a pink colored blank, which would be just perfect for your little girl to use while jigging your Bondy Bait.

Posts: 100 | I was at a talk a few weeks ago with Gorf Pyzer and he talked about heading out with you and pulling in something like 3 over 50 in 1 day, but I imagine even the joy you felt on that day pails to how you feel with that catch. Congrats

Posts: 719 | Thanks guys.....just for laughs here is an exerpt from an email I got this morning... "Hi Jon Took a pearl Bondy Bait with me to Argentina to fish golden dorado. It was a mistake, I should have taken ten. I caught fish within 10 seconds of drop 8 straight times. The guides were amazed. Size ranged from 10 to 35 pounds plus. I had to discontinue because fish had destroyed the bait. Good trip overall In 4 days, I got a 43,40, 37 and dozens in the 10 to 24 pound range. I plan on taking several pearl baits with me to New Guinea in November." New Market!!!

Posts: 531 Location: Hugo, MN | In limited use this fall, I was really impressed with the Bondy Bait for casting the bottoms of deep edges on a local lake. It's pretty easy to walk the bait back up the drops, too. I'm going to be playing with them a bunch more this year.
