Location: Okoboji | i recieved one of these in the mail...it is a redo of the older twin tail....new harness, new rubber, new colors, new design is 10" long...has about as much in common with the old one as a 1985 camaro to a 2012 zr1 camaro....just saying,,,,i cant wait to try it!

Location: Detroit River | I seen those on Ebay (Guide Dog Tackle). They look good but I'd like to see them offered in more colors than just the 6 colors he has on Ebay & in a larger size. He's also selling knock-off mag dawgs on there as well. His feedback is 100% positive. I'd be interested in knowing how well the hold up.

Location: Okoboji | these twin tails are not knockoffs,,that bulldawg style bait was a long time ago when there was a big hurahh when everyone copied innovations from what i understand...everyone was guilty but innovations at one time. innovations is the originator of the bulldawg and are my favorite and go to bait but i do love my 11" curly sues! Like i said give companies another shot.
I bought some direct cause it looked like a #*^@ cool bait,,,i run all the rubber baits but what i have the most of is the mi mag dawgs....they all hold up pretty good but for the cost for performance they cant be beat. and again i am not in cahoots with guide dog one bit. i use them all, mi, chaos, gd, red oct and i am really wanting to try the hellkats
hey they are on ebay, i thought you were talking about them older dawg style baits they had. yeah not a ton of color choices on there but maybe there are more. maybe dude should stop selling the dawg style baits lol.... |

Location: Money, PA | I've been in "cahoots" with the Wiley's for many years, great bait for sure. The Wiley Lure gained its popularity and reputation from two places...The Kawarthas and Lake St. Clair. The 5.5" and 6" Wileys were the best bait going on St. Clair for years and you would not believe how many copies were being produced in Mich. It is SO hard to get a patend that is so similar to so many other things. All Dale could ever get a patent on is his logo and name...big deal! Anyway, lures get copied everyday and some better than others. All I'm really interested in is catching fish and having good products in order to do so. I have felt and used a few of the Guide Dog lures and they are very well made and work fine. Theres not much to the action of those type of baits anyhow.
Bottom line is that you'll have folks out there copying baits, its a fact of life...all we can do is to continue to produce quality products for those fishermen/women out there who apprecite it. However, we have to realize that in todays economy, people are often looking to save a few bucks....and we as producers of products need to be realistic about our pricing. I personally feel some of the prices of some of the baits out there has gotten pretty outrageaous. My baits, I guarantee, will not only be high quality and effective; but also fairly priced! |

The hellkats are sweet, they sink pretty slow. The nice thing about them is the harness is very tunable, you can use it as a topwater or pull it deeper by bending it downwards instead of up. First day using one I lost a piggy, ever since then they have become one of my favorites. |

| You know, I don’t frequent the boards much but I’m pretty sure there’s a policy in place about product promotion. Someone alerted me that there was a thread about us so I figured I’d check it out and answer any questions or comments that came up, hopefully without running afoul of the no promotion policy.
Someone mentioned that our twin tail lure looks like a remake of the Bucher Fluttertail. That’s exactly what it is. Bucher stopped making them in 2010, maybe 2009 and the lure design has sat dormant since then. In October of 2010 we agreed to acquire the license to it as long as we could make any changes to it that we wanted, short of cutting new molds. The manufacturer agreed and we’ve been redesigning and tweaking it ever since. Its new name is the Call Girl and we just received the first small run of 1000 in an initial 9 colors. If it’s successful we’ll expand it up to 15, maybe 20 colors on the next run.
One other comment I’d like to address is the “knock-off mag dawg” observation someone made. I don’t fault the poster one bit because to some, sure, it’s a knock off, as much as any other Dawg like lure is by any other company. It’s our Tail Chaser lure and it does have a similar shape as a dawg, no denying that. That’s where the similarities end though, it’s 50% heavier than a mag, it’s weighted differently to give it a completely different action, it has different guts, eyes, head shape, etc. The similar body style might make it a knock off in some eyes, I don’t know, but one thing that it's not is a simple duplicate lure.
And thanks a lot to the original poster Kodiak for using the 85 Camaro reference. That's the year they came out with the IROC-Z. Dude, that's gonna be impossible to live up to!

Yeah, we might have to make a larger version of it. With the redesigning that we did we wound up adding about an ounce and a half to them, they now weigh 5.5 ounces. Going from memory the old Bucher Fluttertail was just shy of 4. We're marketing/advertising them as 10" long just because that's the measurable length of them in the package. They're actually closer to 12" at rest and about 14" in the water with the tails extended. |

That's one of my biggest issue with a few brands of rubber baits is when I do sweeps or pulls the dang things roll over. A straight retrieve was also out of the question as they laid on their backs. Spent more time twisting the harness and adding weights that I just don't give them any time anymore. |

If you are looking for a good swim bait don't give up quite yet. Look at the Bigwoodsmuskylures.com, look under the swin baits section and find shadzilla. They are strong baits and trust me they run true!!! I can burn as fast as a rocket ship and those things stay upright the whole time! a buddy of mine and I got one each and brought them out last year. Third cast of the day my buddy was burning that thing right over a flat and a 54' just smoked the bait. We boated 3 that day all on the zillas.
Great swim bait, I could throw those all day. And it is generally new to the muskie world.

Man, I hope so. If not I'll be the biggest horses azz that's hit the muskie lure market in a long time. Seriously though, here's what I can tell you. All of the final prototypes ran true at various depths and speeds. That was last summer and there were only 10 of them.
When we got the finished product in (late December) my partner and I took 50 of them out for sampling. We went down to the breakwaters on Lake Michigan to test them, everything else was frozen over. Out of the 50, we had one that was bad and I do mean bad. I think it was on its side before it hit the water and on the retrieve it spun and flopped like a 2 week dead baitfish, it was ugly. Aside from that one though there was only one other that wanted to list a bit to one side and we were able to tune that one with some simple harness manipulation. When we inspected the one that was truly bad it was an obvious mispour. The harness wasn't seated right when the plastic was poured it formed around it at a pretty severe angle from front to back.
Hopefully that's the only one like it in the entire batch but being realistic, there's probably a few more, it's unavoidable. If there's one thing that we pride ourselves on though it's customer service. No one should shell out good money for a pile of crap and if anyone winds up with one of the few possible dogs of the batch it'll be replaced immediately, entirely at our cost.

This bait has been somewhat under the radar for awhile, but no more. I have heard so many stories just like yours about this bait, there is no way it can remain much of a secret anymore. It's true that the Shadzilla runs true at high speeds and it can be a key triggering factor. Here is what one of the many guides who use it said last spring about this bait:

| I just received a few baits from Guide Dog Tackle - the new and improved Call Girl as well as a few of their Tail Chasers. I could not be happier with their products. Eric is one heck of a businessman. I was extremely impressed with his communication and customer service.
The Call Girl looks and feels incredible. The patterns available are fantastic and the price is right! Also, they use top-notch components including razor sharp VMC hooks, which mean they are ready to go right out of the box (no need to mess around with changing/upgrading components).
Thanks for the wonderful service. I cannot wait to get these baits in the water.

I am actually really excited to use their tail chaser lures as they have some significant differences from the Bull Dawgs. I can't wait to see how the action is.

Location: 31 | I'm interested in trolling big rubber with double 10’s or 12’s, and it sounds like the Shadzilla might be the ticket. To clarify... there would just be a split ring between the Shadzilla and the double blades/spinner body.
Any other big rubber candidates I should be considering? This is something new I'll be trying this summer for the first time, so any thoughts or experience would be appreciated. |
