Posts: 532 Location: Ogden, UTAH 10 minutes from pineview reservoir | Just curious what you guys have as a muskie rod & reel combo arsenal? I know some will have more then others but I am curious what your bucktail rod is, jerk bait rod is, and so on and so forth. I am in utah and fish two lakes that have tigers so I dont throw the big rubbers, maybe i should but the bait fish aren't like the suckers and tulibees and what not. Pineview is the main lake i tm fish and there are some big fish in there. For me i am running 4 rods glider and jerk rod 7ft6 h mojo musky with toro 60 hs bucktail : 8ft6 XH mojo muskie toro 60 5.4 spinnerbaits and swimbaits : fenwick muskie elite tech 7ft9 mh with curado 300e general purpose: fenwick muskie elite tech 8ft H with curado 300 e

Posts: 242 | Those G Loomis rods are really nice to fish with (particularly the discontinued maroon ones). I also have the Hulbert 9' Signature Rod, Bluegrass 7'6" Head Shaker, and the Bluegrass 7'10" Dream Stick. Those are also very nice rods to fish with, but usually I don't usually have enough room in the boat to bring them all with me. Oh, you asked about reels, too. All my rods have either, the Abu Garcia Ambassador 5500-C3, 6500-C3, or the 5600-C4 (depending on what gear ratio I want for what technique). I like the vintage feel of the round reels.

Posts: 159 | 1. St. Croix Premier 8'6 4-10 oz with Revo Torro 60 5:4 for Mag Dawgs, Double Dawgs, Pounders, 10 inch Jakes, bigger baits etc.. 2. St. Croix Premier 8'6 2-6 oz with Revo Torro 60 Winch for Double Cowbirls 3. St. Croix Premier 8'' 2-6 oz with Revo Torro 60 5:4 for topwater, gliders, smaller bucktails, smaller baits. 3 Really good setups---my favorite is probably the 8' foot rod with the 5:4 Torro--really light, fast, just a great feeling rod for all purpose, especially topwaters. That rod seems so much lighter and well balanced than the others--and they are all light and well balanced. For my money the best bang for the buck are still the St. Croix Premier series--especially now that they have the longer rods available--they just feel better to me than the other "cheaper" brands I have tried. Good thread--love to see what everyone is using---lost of cash represented in the above mentioned setups!

I probably have 20 plus rods and 20 plus reels. In the boat I will often have 4 or 5 setups rigged and ready on the deck to grab at a moments notice. The Tackle Industry rods are amongst my favorites for rods and I have a lot of different reels depending on application. The thing that surprises me the most from all these posts is how few people actually use what I call in my boat real jerkbait rods. (shorter stiffer rods) I still have 2 6' rods that see a lot of use and catch a lot of fish every year.
