I would be surprised if they didn't. I've used the Fuzz Duzzit's in canada when my dad and brother want to catch some shore lunch (thinking maybe I'd hook into a musky) and just about outfished them. Several perch and walleyes within a half an hour on it. Good luck.

I've caught some smaller ones (under 24") by accident on them.

Any chance of another Bondy bait size, smaller than the junior, that would match up weight-wise with an ice fishing outfit for Lakers?

Are you just attaching that 3 rd treble hook with a split ring?

No plans for an even smaller one Jeff, not yet anyhow. As for the top hook, take the split ring off, and then put an aextra hook on the line tie, then put the split ring back on to pin it down. I don't use snaps either, just heavy leaders with a swivel on each end.

I'm not sure what setup you're using through the ice, but I used the regular sized one last year for lakers and didn't have any issues, but I'm more excited to use the smaller one this year for em.

Been busy making them on days off, which has been all week with the muddy water. Michigan Musky Shop will have them next week, then others soon after. Thanks for asking.

Hey

I was rooting for you ('the musky guy') when you were fishing the Bassmaster Elite event! Be cool to see you contending during The Classic sometime!

Any way, have you experimented with larger blades on the back of the bait? Just wondering if the mega blade phenomena might extend to this jigging bait.

Thanks. I hope to be back on the Elites someday. Anyhow, i've tried a bigger blade and it works cool for casting it when you want a slower fall, but for vertical jigging in a river it slows the bait to much on the fall and makes it a bit more difficult to feel when it lands on the bottom. I want to feel it thump bottom so I know when to lift back up.

Play with the blade size, shape and colour on the reg sized Bondy and lake trout from 18" to 18lbs will follow it around and hit it. You will have your hands full. The trick to working the lure and actually landing what hits it is the right rod/reel/line.

Very heavy, 7 1/2' minimum and lots of back bone. Preferably 8-8 1/2 ft. If it's too whippy it just absorbs the energy that you put into it. Short and stiff jerkbait type rods will snap on the hookset if fish vertical because of the shock. Broken 4 like that myself.

Jon,
I would like to change the color blade of my baits (one regular and one jr.) and I also have to replace the treble hooks (they are not more sharped).
What style and size of blade should I use for each? As treble hooks can I use size 7/0 on both models ?

7/0 seems too big and would probably tangle - I use 4/0 VMC and they work great on the regular size.

4/0 come on the regular Bondy & 3/0 on the Jrs. If you use bigger than 3/0 on the Jrs they will catch one another.

I don't know size as I've only gone up size and haven't tried to match it. Size 6 colorado is still bigger than what's originally on the bait. I'd hazard a guess at size 4 colorado.

Thanks to all !!!

Regarding the blades, I'll try to use the size chart on stamina / all parts catalog.

Here’s pic of a 27 incher I got this year while trolling a triple D for muskies, my second biggest eye ever. Incidentally, my biggest, a 29 incher was caught on a ghosttail while casting for ‘skies as well, so I know the big eyes love big baits.

As far as soft plastics go, I seem to remember watching a video of Steve Herbeck’s kid catching BIG (up to 10 pounds), suspended walleyes on Eagle Lake on the smaller version of the Big Joe (Live Action Lure).

Another bait to check out is the EchoTail by Vibrations Tackle, a relatively new bait. I know Justin did really well on his new creation this year on both muskies and walleyes. Check out his website, the walleye pics are really impressive….

The Colorado blades are size 5 in some companies line up or a size 6. Most call it a #6. The hooks are 4/0 and I do go as heavy as 5/0. We may be going much bigger than a 4/0 when the bigger Bondy comes out.. Talked to my mold maker yesterday, so a magnum is in the works with no timeline set. But it's coming...due to repeated requests. I know Zib will want a dozen at least.

More like 2 dozen. But that would mean I'd need another tackle box that can't fit in my boat.
