Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Ok, Who will promote this, and when ,will this event become a reality ? I'm ready to fish an event like this,........ as long as it's held in Mn. What do you think?? Where are all of the risk takers ? Jerome

the Pro-MAC is already doing this in 2012. they're guaranteeing $100k prize for 1st place in their championship at the end of next season. i'm hopeful that the new 40" minimum in WI will require them to adopt an immediate release format.

From what it sounded like at the Championship he will be going to the immediate release format. Also I could be wrong but I thought he said that he will be keeping the 34" size limit for the tourneys.

But Top H20 said MN well we all know Jerome travels a lot farther than Wisconsin for a lot less prize money! another big "open" event in MN would be sweet, but a shot at $100k is cool anywhere. From what it sounded like at the Championship he will be going to the immediate release format. Also I could be wrong but I thought he said that he will be keeping the 34" size limit for the tourneys. good news. if they use immediate release they should be able to use the smaller size for tournament scoring. this is a perfect example of a good law forcing a business to do the right thing for the resource.

I think it was successful, and it drew The Top Muskie Sticks on the planet. The entry fee for a 2 man/woman team was $2,500. I'm ready ! Are You??? Jerome

Posts: 3147 | I was in the first 'MEGA' tournament and I had a blast!!!,,,$2500 entry fee and it was worth it,,,,I agree with Jerome Id be in but only Minn and it would have to be at least a 3 day format like the old one,,,I DO NOT want to spend 3 days of my life on something like Eagle River and sort through a bunch of 34 inchers

Posts: 1937 Location: Black Creek, WI | Wow. Thanks for the Flash Back, Steve! HH... I agree with you... but why settle for 3 days? I liked the 3-day qualifying round and 2-day elimination format the SF Tourney used. If your gonna go big.... go BIG. At least the Pro-Mac makes you qualify for the Championship by fishing other events... so the "one hit wonders" are somewhat reduced. Losing $250 to Joe Lunchpail in a 2-day tourney isn't hard to swallow... but if I'm gonna donate $2500 to a team... I'd like them to truly earn it in my opinion. It was difficult getting a full field of 100 teams for the first event and trying to do it again the following year was just TOO steep for most people's budget (even during good economic times). So, if a $2500 entry fee tourney was to return.... how often could it be held? Every other year? Once every 5 years? Would even a one-time event fill up?

Posts: 3147 | JLONG i would like to see it every 4 years then that way people know that if they dont get in its a long time till the next one,,If you had one every year people will say to themselfs 'ahhh I'll get in next year" and you wont get the big field,,,,also the beauty of the first mega was it was registration like a year in a half before it was held and you could pay your enrty fee in steps instead of ante up all at once which I think was got people in The first mega had its flaws but overall Bob M put on a great event that I know I enjoyed and that was without winning anything.

Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Sooooo,...... Lets do this thing! One big Tournament every 3 or 4 years is a good idea,... And promote it 2 yrs in advance......Keep the field at 100 boats and 3-5 day event. Jerome

Posts: 269 Location: Oregon, WI | If I'm not mistaken, if you didn't fish any of the ProMac events this year you won't be eligible to qualify for next years 100K championship, even if you win one of the qualifying events next year.

Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Paul Hartman, where are you? He would do a Great job,..... As a side note maybe use 5- 10% of the entry fee for DNR musky stocking. Shawn K. is good at organizing things?
Why Not? |
