So how far do you or would you travel to fish for Muskie? The waters I fish are about an hour and a half away.

Here is the question: Is it worth it? If you live a long distance from where you can fish for muskies, and it costs you an arm and a leg to drive there, is it worthwhile pursuing these fish on a regular basis? If I was a young dude, and I was really intent on hunting the skis, and I had job mobility, I'd seriously consider moving to Central or Upper Minnesota. Heck, don't even tell the wife. Just disappear one day; drive up there; and find a house. Get the deed in your name; and then shoot back to the present homesite. Get a good night's sleep, then go out and rent a truck--a big one. Just start packing up. Don't tell her anything. She'll be dumbfounded. When everything is in the van, just tell her to get in the cab. You'll explain everything on the way north. If she protests, just tell her it has to be this way. She'll like Minnesota; and she can go fishing too. If she starts to growl, tell her you'll cover two trips to the Twin Cities per year; and you'll throw in a once a year fling in Chicago. And a Macy's card. Besides, you can tell her, the schools are great; and there's hardly any crime. She'll be beaming by the time you cross the border. A new life awaits.

If I tried that, they'd NEVER find my body in Minnesota... Or any state for that matter.

I think if I had to travel more than 3 hours each way hauling my boat gear etc. I'd seriously consider moving. Do the math. A 3 hour one way trip hauling gear etc....... is over $50.00 in gas alone each way. Do that every weekend and it adds up. Now if I could only find work in northern Minnesota =)

I'm not sure if you read my post right or not because that adds up to over $400.00 a month in gas alone.

I do the vast majority of my fishing 8 miles from my house. I've been known to take a trip out of the area on occasion.

I think I have the lead since I travel 2100 miles from Marco Island, FL to Nestor Falls, ON.  But my son flies in from Patagonia, Argentina to fish LOTW with me.  That has to be the farthest...about 7,000 air miles.

Weekend trips are the closest 135-162 miles
With a few 270-308 mile trip (spring-fall) throw in a couple 850 mile trips during the year . All adds up to allot of gas ,but can't take it with you and can't catchum at home. All miles are one way ,Gotta get out of IL !!!
