I'm looking for a smaller twitch bait in the 7" range... what does everyone think of these? At one time I know they switched from balsa to plastic, but the website currently says they are balsa. Did they change them back? What size is your favorite between the 6, 7 and 8?

Check out the RJ lures. A great one that you here very little about. Also the Talonz cranks in 6" and 7". Those are built tough as I believe they are oak.

Big fan of twitching Big Games. (all of mine are balsa) The balsa is a double edged sword. They can get beat up quicker than other woods, but the fast tight wobble they have is something I cannot do without. Had a Black & Yellow Big Game do very well for me last year. Named it "Bradshaw". He has since been retiered due to head injury, but not before winning me a couple super bowls on LOTW.

They are great. they hold up well and have great action. i like the 6" for the first week or so of season and move up to the 7" for the last week or so of May and by summer time am using the larger sizes. I would pick a few up you won't be disapointed.

Thanks for the info... is there a big difference in the running depth between the sizes? Some are designated as 'surface twitch 0-2 feet' and others as 'balsa twitch 0-5 feet'.

I like the Big Game twitchbaits. Tony is making all his twitchbaits from balsa. He tried plastic but it didn't give him the same action his balsa baits did, so he went back to balsa. I think that says a lot because he could have made more baits for less using plastic, but decided to stick to what worked for HIM. Other plastic baits are very good though, like Slammers.

Anyway, the Big Games are nice baits. I don't have a surface twitch. I imagine they are similar but the surface twitch sounds like it runs pretty shallow. I have a smaller Big Game twitch (maybe 6") that has had some action. Looks great in the water. Northerns pound it like no other... I also have his 12" minnowbait too. Need to expand to some of the mid range sizes. If you get a chip or tooth holes, seal them up or the balsa will swell and crack the paint and clear coat off.

I'm a little concerned about durability... how often do you have to seal chips and scratches? It seems just hook rash alone would expose bare wood pretty much every time you use the bait? Also, what do you use for sealant?

I have both the 7" surface twitch and the 6" chubby. The action on the Chubby is like no other, awesomely wide wobble. The Chubbies are made of Western Red Cedar, so a little tougher than Balsa.

I haven't thrown them yet this season, but i'm hoping to have some teeth marks in them soon! And if a fish's teeth puncture the topcoat, try using a clear nail polish as a temporary fix. It will keep the water out and it dries fast, and you can go back later to add another epoxy coat if needed.

My fav is the 9" . The 8 " surface twitcher over weeds. I can't wait to try the 12's this year on Eagle. If I'm not throwin Big Games I'm using Talonz Claws. One year in Canada the 5" was just killin em.

If you are looking for a great 7" twitch bait, try the Tyrant Czar. I used the 5", 7", and 9" Czars last year twitching, ripping, and trolling. Worked great on all applications. They twitch really nice, has a different buoyancy and action than other baits. Solid construction also, all thu-wire construction and a solid body that will not break or chip. Caught a bunch of really nice fish last spring twitching them

Don't be worried about durability. Guys pay nearly that or more for soft plastics that get destroyed on one fish. Big Games are well made, work properly, and catch fish.

I will agree that Big Games are great twitch baits. Trolled, straight cranked, twitched, or ripped they catch fish. They have a very "neutral" type action that often triggers fish that other crankbaits/minnowbaits/twich baits do not. They also are tough for a wooden bait and are made with quality components. At least a few colors of the 6". 7", 9" and 12" definetly belong in every tackle box.

Slimeball, how deep do the surface twitchers get on a medium paced retrieve (Adam Sandler reference not intended).

Roughly 6-12" (depending on your rod attitude/how hard you twitch). If i want it to run deeper or have more "hang" before the rise, i'll add a sinker to the front split ring like the 10" surface twitch in the pic.

Curious if anyones ran the Big game Scuba divers yet, mainly looking for trollers opinions? Says they will hit 30' or more, just wondering if they will hit that at 4 to 5 mph.

OK so I picked up a 5" and 7". Can't wait to throw them.

Question: I've seen some people bend the lips. What does this accomplish and how do you do it?

Thanks guys!!

The 5 Scuba will hit 30+ with 50pd braid with a 140 ft of line out at 4 mph..

The 7.5 Scuba will hit 30+ with 80pd braid with 120ft of line out at 4 mph...

Hope this helps,
