This is meant for PIKEMASTER, but anyone that has an answer is to reply. What size gears are in the bass-size Revo Winch? Do you know what size are in the other bass-sized Revos (STX,SX,S)?

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | The Revo Bass reels, WINCH has a 5.4:1 brass gears, that has a 20.6" line pickup, STX has a 6.4:1 brass gear that has a 27.5" line pickup or a 7.1:1 brass gear that has a 31" line pick up, SX same as the STX, the S comes only in a 6.4:1 gears that have a line pickup of 27.5" per turn of the handle. All ABU gears are brass and are around 36-40mm tall. Hope that helps.

Read GUEST post he was asking about the REVO bass reels !!!! U are taking about the ABU REVO TORO reels that come in a REVO WINCH with 4.6:1 / 22" line pickup, and a std REVO TORO with 5.4:1 / 26" of line pickup, and a 6.4:1 with 30.9" line pickup. Both the REVO and the REVO TORO gears are made of brass, and each have there they own gear sets.

Thanks for the info, PIKEMASTER. I use bass-sized Revos for muskies. If you don't you're missing out. I was curious how much bigger the gears in the Winch was compared to the others.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Guest: Here is something U can do do any Revo Bass Reel, U can order a set of 4.7:1 brass gears from BASS PRO / PRO Q. reel and they will drop in any REVO or Pfluger Patriarch Wide spool reel and with the 4.7:1 gears U can pull in Big Blade Baits with ease, with a small bass reel. The Revo brass gears are some of the tallest in any reels today, take a ABU 6500 the gears in that reel are only about 32mm tall, and the REVO gears are 36mm - 38mm tall.

That's pretty interesting. How do you get these gears?

Do you know when they will be in and about how much they cost? The reel itself is on sale for $80 if that interests you.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | I think they are $18.00 for a set. I know a lot guys that buy the reel and use the gears and resell the the reel with the gears that they swap with. My B/O gears is going on 30days being backorderd.

That price isn't too bad. Does it take much knowledge to change them? I don't want to mess up and have to throw the reel away.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | U do have to take the right side of the reel off so I would send it to me or try it yourself, follow the reel schmatics, not to hard.

I might give it a try. Have you personally used one? I might wait until you convert yours and write a review.

How tall are 4.7:1 Pro Qualifier gears?

| ||
Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Here are some pics of the 4.7:1 gears and a set of 5.3:1 from a ABU 6500. U can see from the pics that the 4.7:1 gears are so much bigger then the 6500 gears, look at the size of the pinion gears, now U know Y the ABU 6500 gears don't last. Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Yes it is S.STEEL I got them from UT REEL TECHNOLOGY about 6 years ago, down to my last 15 of them. I don't think you can find them anymore.

Impressive. Thanks for the pictures. Are those actually from the Pro Qualifier? They're about the same size as the Toro Winch, right?

Do you know of any charts or anything online that discusses internal part, or do you just know because you own everyone known to man?

Posts: 93 Location: WI | How does the bass pro Qualifier reel hold up for muskie fishing in your opinion? I'm looking to add a new reel to what I have now but being cut in hours it's hard to spend big $$ for a revo toro. If these work good and hold up it might be a good option for smaller cranks and jerks and mabybe some smaller bucktails.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | The Pro Q reels would be fine for small bucktail and small jerks, just use your thumb on the spool when you rip / jerk baits. For $79.99 can't beat them. Get the 4.7:1 gear ratio and it will hold appox 85yds of 65lb braid or 65yds of 80lb braid.

At last count I had over 75 reels, and 60 rods, Most are for Pike and Muskies, Bass, Saltwater, 30 are old ABU reels from the 50's and 60's and 70's. When a new reel comes out I will buy them and tear them down to see what they are made of, If I like it I will keep it, if it is a POS I will sell it on the web or a forum. I follow about 10 forums on line about reel repair a day, so I learn alot from them. Also last year I did over 200 reel repairs, cleaning and reoiling so I see alot of different reels.

Posts: 158 | Someone mentioned the Pro Qualifier reels from BPS. The PQ reels interchange parts with the Revo lineup. In fact, I've not only swapped gears, but assembled them with ALL parts swapped over, just to show someone online they were the same. I don't know about the new BPS Extreme reels, but I do know the 09'/10' Extreme gears are also swappable with the Revo reels. From what I understand from you PIKEMASTER, the standard Revo/PQ gears won't fit into a Toro. Just thought I'd re-mention that since I'm lead to believe that some people were asking that specifically without actually asking.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Killerbug - 4/6/2011 2:30 AM How mutch longer would the steel pinion last? With S.STEEL gears they never feel smooth, but will last for years. Brass pinions will wear out in a couple months of reeling in hard pulling baits. U can buy new brass pinion gears on ebay for $5.00, and takes 15mins to install, so it is a trade off, I like a reel that is butter smooth.

Posts: 339 Location: Denmark | If both pinion and gears are steel, it should feel smoother. But Ambasseduer reels was never super smooth, at least not the classics. I think they even used alu gears in some of the older models. PS. I might need your help once more in near future, as the 400 is showing signs of rust already from the Pike fishing here in the Baltic sea.
