| I know this was up here before BUT I would like to know what is the best hd hat cam out now? Also for a reasonable price.
I will need the cam and a way to record it.

| I put this out about two weeks ago I was looking at zetronics but went with the Go Pro for about $170. Shot a little vid i my garage and was very happy with the quality. also looked at hat cam .com but did not think the hat would fit my giant melon. |

Location: where the fish are... | Heres the real deal with Go-Pro hds, I have the 1080 unit and yes it is deffinetly worth the extra $$, you can do so much with this camera not just for fishing, The real problem is that you need to purchase high capacity memory cards for the camera to be affective, it does not come with a card and a 32gig will only handle about 4-6 hours of 1080p or 960p @60frames per second, These 32gig cards also cost about $100 per unless you can find some cheaper which there are but still about $50 a copy then, I have a couple of 16gig cards now and plan on getting a couple 32's soon, the other problem is the battery life, you need to have atleast 4 batteries in order to film an entire day, this kinda sucks but if you think about it if you are going to be serious about it this is the camera, The pov 1.5 is a good camera, believe me I did my reasearch, but the go-pro offers many more options as you can mount it many places underwater wherever you can think you can put it, Still shots on the camera are also awesome, this year I will not have to take a regular point and shoot digital camera with me as the go pro will do, I still will carry my olyimpus because its a 8.5 megapixel as opposed the the go-pros 5 mega pixel, but the nice thing about taking still shots with the go-pro is it will make fish look bigger. Good luck deciding but be sure you understand fully what you are getting into or else this will be a $300-500 purchase that sits in a drawer because you didnt take the time to learn it. |

| horsehunter, pulling stills from digital video is very easy and produces high quality images. I use standard HD video cameras(full size not Hat Cam) and no longer shoot stills. This has greatly reduced the time it takes to get 'em back in the water! Great option especially when fishing alone. |

That's exactly why I use a POV.
I can 'tag' 15 minutes or a half hour to the SDHC card, and it saves ONLY the clips I ask it to saving the card for relevant information. It powers off double A batteries, which I buy as 3800 mAh rechargeable from overseas for about twenty cents each, and they can be recharged 1000 times. they last about 4 hours before needing to be changed out, and are easy to carry. |

Anyone recomend good windows software.
I am in the process of learning DR. Depth........fear I may bury myself in technology...my fishing was much simpler 50 years ago when I fished out of a canoe and carried a half dozen lures and one rod.

| Sorry, no clue on PC stuff! Cameras are not waterproof. I do use the sony handy cam waterproof housing with a HD handycam for under-water filming. Not too expensive and works great. Good Luck! |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The POV 1.5 is waterproof, and can be attached to any number of mounts that come with it. Rugged and reliable, and easy to wear. A wireless remote control comes with the camera and DVR.
IF you are not editing High Definition video from a Canon DSLR, Roxio 11 is very nice editing software for a PC. Final Cut Pro is stellar for a Mac, I have a Macbook Pro for editing Anglers Insight Marketing video and professional pieces. |

Does any of the big name stores carry this camera or is it only available on-line.
I have the video camera that is built into glasses but I do like this better.
Looks like I will be selling my i-Kam Extremes. Heck I bought them last fall to use for deer hunting but I almost met my maker and that ended my deer hunting for the year before it got started so I never even got to use them. But after seeing this I am seriously thinking of switching.

Location: Richfield, MN | How would this be for using for hunting. I bought the i-Kam Extreme's last year in hopes of using them archery hunting but due to medical conditions I never got to hunt last year so I never got to use them.
So with everyone talking about this camera now and after seeing the HD video and how well they look I am now really interested in this camera but how easy is it to turn on. When hunting one cannot have any movement. So is it easy to turn this on with 1 finger. Or does it take a little more care to turn it on.
I am leaning towards selling my i-Kams that have never even been on my face yet to get these if they will work for hunting!!!!!!
So after looking at the website. I see there is the 960 but I see people talking about 1080 one as well. Am I blind and stupid is there a 1080 version that I am not seeing or is the 960 the 1080 version!!

| Muddy, the SD 170 and the HD 960 are the only two that are not 1080. The naked, surf, motorsports, and helmet packages are all 1080.
One of my friends has the full 1080 camera but records the majority in 720 because it has a faster frame rate (60 fps) while 1080 mode only records 30 fps which could cause some blurring during fast boatside motion. I can tell you though that the 720 video still looks amazing.

Location: Richfield, MN | MartinTD TYVM for the response. I know in previous responses above people have stated that it is well worth the extra dollars for the 1080 but if it is going to show some bluriness then is it really. But for hunting that would not be a issue at all.
But for recording some other sporting events it could cause some issues.
But again thanks for your quick answers. Now I have to figure out what I want to do and then if I decide to get the new camera system how to talk the boss into the dollars to do so!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!

I am with you on that!!!!!! Actually without my wife I probably would of been 6' under about 15 yrs ago. She brought out of my destruction days for which I will always be gratefull for!!!!!!
But now to just get this one more toy!!! Oh and about 20-30 other things I need for the boat and for fishing before the season opens!!!!

Has anyone had experiance in low light conditions in the woods. One of the main things I would be using this for would be for is hunting. So I am hoping am I would be needing to use tha camera in the wee hours of the morning as the sun is just narely coming up!!!!!!
As well as when the sun is going down late at night. So I might not have the greatest light available in the woods. hunting mans other white meat!!!!! VENISON!!!!! LOL

Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | with $1200 maintenance already doled out this winter and still in need of new trailer tires and 2 batteries,a fox chain permit $80, and $250 Chicago Park district 2011 annual Launch permit (lake Michigan), I can only dream of a new camera right now. Oh yeah, I gotta put gas in the tank too surely at well over $4/gal this summer. Some cool stuff for sure.
