My guess is he will only catch a small 58" this year. That is small for Tom

Don't know the man. But from what I've heard? Well, I don't know what he'll catch, but I'd bet he will be out fishing long after most guys have their boats put away for the season.

I would guess somewhere between late next week and/or the first part of the week of the 22nd with the full moon on the 21st. Hope he gets a shot at another beast this year.

He's probably not even on the water yet. That guy waits until he has to break ice in order to roll troll. I also heard he rows against the current and the wind all day long and eats a dozen eggs with a huge stack of pancakes and a steak for breakfast and a whole deer he kills with his bare hands each day for supper.

He was on the water today . He was fishing before moon rise and left the lake about 2 hours after. He was row trolling on a lake I would not guess he would be on. some friends sen him at the boat landing.

I hope I'm still alive at his age, and would be stunned if I'm still fishing, much less row trolling in the snow in November.

I saw him last 2 weekends ago rowing into a 20 mph wind. I was complaining about how difficult it was to control my boat and that I wasn't going to have enough battery to make it all day, when Gelb went past me and waved.

What a way to make a guy feel like a ####y. Thanks old man.

I've never met the man but have read about him. I can only hope that IF I get to be his age that I have the ABILITY to even step into a boat.

Tom Gelb doesn't sleep. He rows.

When Tom Gelb rows, the boat doesn't move forward. The lake moves back.

Yes he did have a 49'r and I have the picture for my album. And let me be the first to say, That if he can out row you, he sure isn't old by any chance. I would love to fish with Tom but I can never get away much to fish period.
You go Tom. The giant is just waiting for you.

If he's still in the boat he was a couple years back it is a glass row troller he was trying to get built/marketed through Heckels. Nice rig, but a little spendy.

"Since he retired in 1997, his blue Kuehl row boat can be seen regularly on many northern Wisconsin waters from opening weekend until the water turns hard in November."

But welldriller, wasn't it also comforting to know that if you encountered trouble on the water that day, he would be there to save your candy ___?

Tom is (without question) one of the true heroes of our sport IMHO!

Tom Gelb doesn't row his boat gently down a stream. He doesn't do anything gently.
