Just got back from a trip and my buddy boated a 57x26. I just got to thinking how many 57's have been caught this year...?(I know of 4 this year personally) Is this a factor of CPR? Or are these certain lakes getting SO many big fish?

Wisconsin strain fish are reaching their potential everywhere due to C & R.

So I suppose everyone wants the story. It's funny how a situation like this rolls together. On Saturday we were coming across the main lake to see Apex or Matt and Tyler working a main lake rock reef. They told us that they had seen what they thought may have been a 52 to 54 inch fish on a nearby spot. As we were driving off my friend Ben Olsen of Fishing Hardcore looked at me and my friend Ryan and joked...if there is a 53 inch fish on that spot than there must be a 57 or 58 inch fish on that spot pointing at a popular reef.
After talking we decided that we would start the following morning on that reef. We started around the reef and I mentioned that I bet if there's a fish working this spot it will be on the other side where the wind was pounding all day yesterday. As we made our way around it we approached the area I felt would have a fish and as I lazily made my 8 I saw...HER!! I quickly got serious and said giant fish and Ryan agreed. While we were saying how big the fish was Ben ripped his bait up and the fish swatted at his bait and he then realized how big the fish was. I quickly said when is moon rise I'm pretty sure it is very soon so I checked the graph and realized that it was in 10 minutes and if the giant fish we just saw was going to eat it would be now or never. I said maybe we should re position ourselves and be back on her in 10 or 15 minutes and quickly had a unanimous decision with Ben proclaiming why not ??? This is the mooniest lake I have ever fished. As we were heading near the waypoint we were covering every inch of water as Bens boat control is flawless. I had a great feeling as we got closer as I knew no active fish was getting past the pounder medussa!! Then it all happened... I felt my line jump and I busted here hard...as my rod loaded up hardcore all Ben could say is dude it's HER! After a brief fight we had this hog in the net!!

57?? I don't know... Bumpboard looks so beat up, probably can't even read the numbers... HAHAHA!!! Only kidding! Sweet fish. Fish of a lifetime. Congrats, and nice story to go with it. I was sitting on the edge of my seat while reading. Could almost feel the tug in my own arms.

Wow, what a fish! That boat and bump board sees more big fish in one year than most will see in a lifetime, congrats to you and Ben!

I'm with 10k. She was very well built over her entire length. The pics don't do justice to the distance across her back and skull. However, if she was a record it was by slightest margin! Truth be told, I have no experiential data to support this, other than the various formulas and handling many fish, But I would guess she went 52 to 54 Pounds. She lost about 1 pound during the photo shoot in the form of fully digested whitefish! We do have awesome video of the fish, from just prior to netting all the way through the measuring process and release. The video really highlights her curves. I will edit out our extremely foul language and product whoring and post it as soon as the lakes freeze!

Now wait a minute. If that fish is 57" long, then to be proportionately correct, it should have had only a 25.65" girth! Or maybe it was even longer!

Congratulations on an outstanding fish!
