| My buddies and I are planning a trip here at the end of July. We were wondering what other fish species were in the lake besides Musky, Bass, and Crappie? We mainly are fishing for Musky, but only because the boat rental place we found only lets you take boats out till 6p.m. What lures have they been hitting on? How is the topwater if anyone has fished it recently.... Basically we were wondering where we could find good deals on boat rentals and cabins. Any information would help greatly. | water temps will be to hot to fish for muskies. They are well above 80 degrees now. |

Location: Van Buren, Indiana | I was just out on Tippy Tues. 6th and the water temps were 82.5-83.5. hopefully those temps will be down when you come. Besides the species you listed, there can be some good perch fishing also but that's pretty much it. The bass fishing can be pretty good I 've heard also, and some darn good crappie fishing if you can find them. If you can come down later like, August 6th you could fish a league night with the Webster Club it is on Barbee, and Webster Sept. 3rd. I'm in the Hoosier Club but I started fishing some of these last year, it's a good time! I'll try and post later and let you know on the water temps! try Webster Lake Guide Service, Chae's got a cabin to rent. There is also a Ramada in Warsaw that guys stay at for the Hoosier Classic. Not real sure on boat rentals, Ye Old Tackle Box might know, I do not have that number.

| Thank you...This is the only time we can go, so we are going to have to stick it out and if we do catch any we will handle them very carefully. Yes we are planning on staying at Dolsen's. Still need info on boat rentals though...sucks not having a boat of our own...We are 3 guys, anyone who will let us rent a boat we will pay... |

| Here is where I rented a boat:

I arrived the night before and they let me rent the boat at 5:30 p.m. and fished that first evening. They close at 6:00 p.m. (eastern time!!!). The evening plus the next day till 6:00 p.m only cost one day rental. If you rent for multiple days, you can keep the boat for mutiple days and fish at night.
The water temps will probably be high. I am sure some guys on this board will flame out on you for that (I won't). Try to fish morning and evening only. Switch to other species mid day. Next year, plan your trip to avoid high water temps.
I stayed at Chae's place too. The cabins are clean, comfortable, and a great value for the money. Be leery of some of the neighbors in the area--there are a few odd characters out there down the block. Most of the time you will be on the water anyways.

| Great NEWS!!!! Yea it's nice to here that the cabins are nice. That basically made our trip right there, the only doubt we had in fisherman's cove was that you were only aloud out from 8 to 6, but since you cleared up that you can keep the boat overnight or what not that is perfect! Basically did you keep the boat right on the dock by the cabin? Im really pumped that they let you keep the boat overnight because we really want to get on the water VERY EARLY and LATE EVENING. | Fisherman Cove let's you keep the boat and park it anywhere overnight. However, I brought the boat back each day to their dock. Chae will rent you dock space if you want it. Although, I saw Chae's dock and I think it was in disrepair. I would check with Chae to be sure (in case I saw the wrong dock).

Location: Palm Coast, FL | I would seriously refrain from fishing for muskies this time of year. I know this is the only time you can go...why not head north to Lake St. Claire? Water temps are way too high at 84+. It is that warm 6 ft down! Delayed mortality WILL happen no matter what precautions you take. |

| Past oxygen and temp studies on webster have shown that in heat for this long the lake sustains the same oxygen levels down to 16 feet before it starts to drop and the water temps at 16 feet were 80 degrees. |

| We will try to do our best in rescheduling, but again, traveling costs money, gas, new cabins, new boat rental, we had everything mapped out, only problem was time of year...We recently just bought some Musky Nets and a bunch of equipment in order to handle them as safely as possible, been watching crap load of videos also, basically on handling fish in warm water and what precautions should be tooken... Again we might not even see a FISH!?? Sorry if everyone is going crazy over us 3 just going, but many people are on that lake everyday, hhaha we are only going for 2-3 days...Again we are still looking for a replacement lake, we don't want it to be to far from Cleveland OH we are only 4 hours away from Webster.....Any ideas or information would help.. |

Go northeast over to Chautauqua Lake in NY.Great body of water and should be cool enough.Been a while since I have fished it,so maybe somebody will chime in and give a report.Ton of weeds to fish and some big deep pools to troll.Seen some big ones caught there... |

I dont have numbers and wish I would have recorded and kept what we found a few years back. We went out on webster and tippy in late july/early august with a aqua vu with a temp sensor and a temp/o2 sensor that we bought from cabelas. What we found was good enough for me to decide to lay off fishing these lakes in the summer. I guess everyone has to make up their own mind because the season is open but if you care about taking care of the fishery it only makes sense to lay off til cooler weather hits.
surface temps ran about the 81-82 degree mark depending on where we were, and held at 80 at least 15 feet down. We didnt hit 78-79 degrees until about the 16-17ft mark. i dont recall the Oxy levels but I do remember there was about a 2 ft comfort zone where these fish had sufficant Oxy and under 80 degree temps at around the 15-17ft mark. After that the oxygen levels dropped of drasticly to near nothing. while drifting across open water and running the camera down we did come across 2 fish in 40 fow. 1 we actually bumped with the camera and it barely moved. It actually turned on its side and looked to be near dead (my opinion). The other fish we found was dead on the bottom. This was not a high tech experiment by any means but after spending a day out there and seeing what I saw, I decided I didnt need any further professional scientific studies to tell me what my common sense was telling me.
We also talked with the dnr who was on the water that day surveying anglers and he was telling us as well about fish he recorded being caught by anglers in a certain area and a certain size, only to find fish of the same size in the same areas dead later in the day or the next day. Were they the same fish? nobody can really say for sure.
One other note too was that we found that even when the surface temps would cool at nite, the temps at depth would also stay higher than 80. The cool down wouldnt happen all the way thru the water column.
This concluded our unprofessional low budget study. |

Location: syracuse indiana | chae did really good on lsc. in 10 day the boated almost 40 fish with almost all of them came over 40 inches, some 49's and a 50. . most of his action came on northlands new bucktail and some on pacemakers. but most fish were on the smaller tails..
now i know brian schram and randy whiteman have been doing good on don's lures.. hoosier handmade musky baits |

| My son and I am coming down from Chicago to fish the infamous Webster Lake in a few weeks. My son caught his first Musky (40") a couple months ago and he is hooked. It is hard to find information on the best place to launch a boat and current fishing reports for the lake. If anyone can help me out and let me know the best place to launch my boat and let me know the best part of the lake to catch a couple musky in a couple weeks? Any help would be appreciated. FYI - we catch and release all Musky. |

| If you're launching on Webster---you have 2 options--the public launch, which is just fine, or the pay launch by Fisherman's Cove. The water temps are finally dropping and fish are moving---FAST! Couple more weeks of cooler nights should have the sucker bite in FULL SWING, so be ready for some live bait action. I would also recommend some nice minnow baits like Grandmas, Jakes or Big Game twitchers---fish love 'em this time of year! | hmm I guess I will take that as a yes - I fish Lake Delavan in Wisconsin a lot and there is always a ton of traffic on that lake and it is real easy to find fishing reports for Delavan as I find it hard to find any real info on Webster lake I couldln't gauge how many people fish this lake apparently a lot ??????? |

pressure? just a little.. its gotten so bad i wont even fish there anymore..
good luck finding a parking spot, almost have to camp out there to get one.

Location: Indiana | Webster gets pressure like few have seen. The whole lake is like 775 acres. I have been there many times where I was just one of 20 boats in a single bay. You just get in line and cast. Don't get mad if you get cut off, because it will happen. The backwater ramp is always full by sunrise, and if you park on the street you get a ticket. The fishing can be worth all of that when the lake is on, it is muskie fishing though and can be tough! Like mentioned above, I find myself on other lakes a lot of the time because I want a little peace and quiet. |

Fishing has dropped off dramatically probably because of all the pressure..
I agree, fish somewhere else less pressured and you will enjoy it a lot more..
Just not enough room out there.. its closer to 500 acres also
