Just wondering what knots most people use to tye to your leaders. Best knots for coated lines for example stealth or power pro? or uncoated lines?
Or if anyone has had a problem with certian knots?
I hope no one loses a fish to a bad knot this year, lures are not cheap and fish are not always cooperative.
Have a good one.

+1 for the Palomar knot. Only knot I use. Never had a knot loosen or come undone. Make sure you use plenty of spit!

palomar w/ mono ...although i usually get lazy and tie an improved clinch
uni w/ braid
In all honesty....I may not fish for "monster" muskies like those up north have the chance to do, but as long as you tie a common, dependable knot and check you line regularly for abrasions, I do not think someone should ever lose a musky due to breaking 80-100lb braid. This happened to me once with new spool of Spiderwire Stealth and I have used Masterbraid ever since...with no problems.
I think specific knots are much more important when fishing big fish on light lines in saltwater. Not many freshy water fish should ever break your line when fought properly (excluding fishing heavy slop or around zebra mussels, bridge piling, etc)

Don't know how it compares with the Palomar knot for strength, but I always tie the Trilene knot. I learned it by heart the evening after I lost my best fish to that time to a broken clinch knot. No trouble since.
God bless the poodles.

i use the trilene knot. have been for years. Very easy to tie, and the nice part is you get two wraps of line around any eyelit. I have never had one let lose on me yet.

Palomar knot 90% of the time or more. I do like that oversized super braid knot that's a pain to tie though. It's like a combination of the palomar & a clinch knot. I normally use that one for trolling setups.

NO-KNOT
a well known guide put me on to this product and i swear by it.
i use 80 to 100lb super braided line 2 differnt brands.
from what i've been told by many people and manufactures of super braids at fishing shows its the knot that cuts the line 99% of the time.
if you retie ever night it's not an issue but if your like me not good at knots
and a little lazy this will work for you.
i've been useing NO-KNOTS for a long time and never lost a solidly hooked
musky and never lost a lure after a cast since.

Super Uni Knot (the double line through the eye). Little easier to tie than Palomar, and stronger, at least according to Knot Wars.

palomer knot for me. but I carefully melt down about an inch of the end of the line to a little ball, so if there is knot slipping that little ball stops it from failing.

Most of the time I tie an improved clinch. There is one knot that is supposedly stronger than the palomar and that is the fish n fool knot..

Trilene knot. I might give improved uni knot a try as it's very similar. I've tried the palomar and it works too, but kind of a pain to bring a leader thru the loop. Whoever said the knot doesn't matter very much is right.

Double or improved Uni for me. Poly or clinch on Mono.

A clinch will cut braid tho.
