Posts: 8816 | I like the good old jackpot for a super fast retrieve, searching for active fish. I like a Doc for a bigger profile and making a lot of noise on the surface. I like the regular Weagle for a slow presentation or when I've raised a fish on some other lure You can work a Weagle pretty fast, so if I had to choose just one I'd say Weagle. But to me it's a different tool from a jackpot. All in all? Which one and what color is the least of your concerns in my opinion. You need a walk the dog bait. As long as it works, it doesn't really matter which one you choose.

Posts: 54 | no question about it you cannot beat the weagle, its hands down the best. TJ Devoe from muskie first turned me on to this bait. you cant get anything better..... JUST WEAGLE BABY!!!!!!!

Posts: 1060 Location: Medford, WI | I prefer the Weagle about 70% of the time; but I'll use a Jackpot the other 30%. The weagle has been great for hookup %age...definitely better than the Jackpot. I had a Doc at one time but didn't really care for the way it worked...maybe if I spent more time using it, but I also didn't like how light it was. Salmo's Maas Marauder was another one I've used that I didn't care for too much but that was because it seemed like you needed more of a constant movement with the bait...I couldn't really let the bait "glide" for a second and sit there before bringing it back the other way. I could definitely see how some people would like the Salmo though. I'm not exactly sure the reason I use the Jackpot still...sometimes it just seems that the fish want a more subtle bait. Also, my custom/spray painted red jackpot has 15 fish on it and has about half an inch of hook rash in back so it's hard to not throw. The 3 biggest fish I have seen on WTD's are all on Jackpots which is rather interesting. Anyways...I love WTD's and you can't beat them on those calm mornings as the sun is rising...I want to go fishing! -Jake

Posts: 1243 Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | I tend to use prop baits when I'm using top water. But for walk the dog baits, the Weagle and Viper would be my top 2 choices. Both push a lot of water and catch lots of fish. Aaron

these are the ones that have been the best in my boat for me and others... all of them have a time and place..just like any bait some days they want big and loud, some days small and subtle... fishstick one eye willy fish stick HD weagle viper

Posts: 540 | I have had far more fish active for the jackpot than any other wtd but the hookage percentage is just terrribly awful. I'll hook more fish with a doc but lots of less activity. I just got a seducer and a maaas marauder so I will be trying them out soon!

Posts: 1060 Location: Medford, WI | Don't know how I forgot the Homewrecker! I don't own one personally, but my fishing partner had good success with his this summer. More similar to a Weagle than a Jackpot....heavier and 3 hooks. -Jake

Posts: 305 | had very good luck on homewrecker. moves water, heavy with three hooks for better hookups. just as many hits as with my old jackpots(which i threw for years) with more fish in boat now with homewrecker. sometimes fish the doc but two hooks and light weight problems as others have said.

Posts: 1906 Location: Oconto Falls, WI | Hands down Fish Stick HD! Very easy to make walk, easy to walk in place to trigger a following fish, and you can work it fast or slow. On top of that it works very, very well in anything from calm to some big waves. In fact it has worked great for me on fish over deep cabbage in 15-20 mph winds! Very good hooking bait as well. If you don't have one you have got to get one!

Posts: 425 | I love the action of the Havana Jack. This is an 8.5 inch bait and comes only with two 5/0 trebles. Those hooking percentages are not ssooo good. So, what I did is just add another one on. I screwed in another screw eye directly center of the other two hooks and added a 4/0 treble on. Still has the exact same action and the hooks do not get tangled with each other. Great hooking percentage and Great action! Jake Heuer Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 173 Location: Probably Minnesota that time... | Seems I may be one of the very few that actually like the Bucher Dancin' Raider, that bait has been awesome for me. -It only works for me though when the lake is laid down calm at sunset, and work it slow! I also like the J-Walker from AHL a unique bait with a cool spray from the cupped mouth another one better worked slow. For a faster presentation the Jackpot seems hard to beat. You need to try a variety of brands, to see what fits you, everybody finds their favorites through time using them. The fish will help you decide, just give a handfull a fair shake under prime time conditions. Have fun! -Chris

Jake Heuer if you ask me the additional treble hooks look useless considering the space between original hooks location,it look like 3 to 4 inch.if you miss fish with the original setting its not gonna be something big no?

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | mcgeissler - 3/27/2010 10:04 PM Any favorite colors in the Weagle? Perch, black, or frog (if you can find frog still). Weagles all the way for me. I don't even own any other WTD baits anymore and put lots of fish in the boat on them every year. There's always one strapped on a rod in my boat.

Seems crazy to me someone, and a guide to, would say they only throw 1 kind of wtd topwater!!!! That's like saying you only own and throw a mepps marabou for bucktails in my opinon! !! Wow.
