Nah, don't be depressed. Get out icefishing! Take what winter gives you. There's plenty of good fishing out there to be had - even if it isn't muskies. Saying that, winter does get to be long sometimes.

Not sure about winter depression, fly fishing, riding some serious powder on my snow board...even with the 50's and sunny weather I have gotten out on my mountain bike...lots going on for certain...BR

Play some golf. That should take your mind off fishing.

I've been sharpening hooks and getting everything for summer straightened out from last season, ice fishing, spearing, and soon I'll have a tv hooked up in the garage so I can sit in my new boat and watch fishing shows.

I know what you mean. I have been taking apart and cleaning my reels, looking at lures, casting in the yard, and constantly messing with rod/reel combos to see what i like.

I know what you feel, man. Went out yesterday and bought a bass rod. Held myself in check and didn't get scalped too bad. One remedy is to get your camera together and take a hike in a forest. Look for nice scenes, photograph them. We have mountains in these parts and they look great under a blanket of snow.

Yah, once Xmas passes and then hunting season ends, there is no more reason for winter.
I wish i was on the water. these next few months are the longest.

I love winter. I wish it would never leave. Skied through powder almost up to my waist the other day. It was unreal.

BenR, where you skiing at? I heard Breck is really hurting for snow this season. We need some pretty badly this way as well.

I like winter just fine as well, have lots to do on the ice and in the woods, and wish it wasn't over as soon as it is most years. It is what it is, and muskie season opens the same time every year.

I haven't found anything yet that I enjoy more then fishing so I can't wait til winter ends. I've tried ice fishing too, not a big fan. A couple more months and ill be able to start wading the river for smallies No need to diversify my hobbies when I enjoy fishing so much!

I typically ride Mary Jane in Winter Park, we are hurting for snow overall but still have had some super powder days and can always find some stashes in the trees. I think March is going to be great, the El Nino weather pattern calls for snow late, so I hope they are right...Am going to be hitting Aspen soon as well...Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow......BR

I've been playing Rapala fishing on the Wii. The only problem is that you get to a point when you have a limit of 25 fish. The biggest muskie has been a 51"r.
Oh open water please.......

People would like winter more if there was more than 9 hours of sunlight.

Nice, I think we've gotten a bit more than you guys but I sure hope you are right about March. Would be sweet if we could stick a huge layer down in March and keep the slopes open later into April. The snow has definitely been skiable this season but the powder days have been few and far between. I got so lucky the day I went to Alta. It was windy as all get out so it was free refils on fresh powder all day long. It was even more enjoyable considering a skied for 5 bucks since my buddy works at Alta. And there were no knuckle draggers as they aren't allowed at Alta.

We've gotten wayyy more snow than CO this year, and it's still been pretty sad. I'm really glad I bought the monster K2 Hellbents for this season, worth the purchase price for that last storm a couple weeks ago. 40" of fresh in 2 days. I got 4 days off coming up this weekend, and it's supposed to snow again, then the 17th I'm planning on heading down to Silverton.

How wide are those underfoot? I've got a pair of all around skis that I bought off of KSL for cheap but next season I want to get a pair of wide boards to ride powder.

they're 150-122-141 tip to tail. Next years model will be 160-132-151, and they look sick. rockered skis will change your life, they're so amazing in this light, deep stuff we get. they are a handful on hardpack/cut up groomers, but worth the hassle. the Armada JJ or Line EP Pro would also be worth checking out (115 and 128 underfoot, respectively), if you want to go the rockered twin tip route.

Nice, sounds like a great set up. My skis are pretty skinny all around and they were a bear to learn how to ski powder on, since I'd never skied powder before. Got it down now and can only imagine how much more fun it is on a pair of skis that actually float on the powder instead of dive for the depths.

Take up an indoor hobby then. Whining about it won't solve your problems.

Sorry don't mean to be whining just looking for some encouragement from those who are going through the same things as for indoor hobbies I have them too! My hobbies I enjoy the most just happen to be outside and not during the winter!
