| Send a PM to BubbaTn and/or Fishwizzard, They caught the same fish a couple days apart. This muskie was tagged last spring by TN Wildlife Resources Agency. The TN Biologist Jim Negus might have additional information. |

Location: East TN | Yup, Like Clark1 said....this past August, I caught a 40" fish when I was by myself, and as I was preparing to release it...I noticed it had a tag on it "023", so I kept the info on hand and proceeded to release the fish. About a month later, My buddy Ryan(aka "fishwizard") posted a report stating he had also caught a tagged fish, he posted the number and to my surprise...it was also "023". So needless to say CPR does work. And it felt good too because that fish was the first fish I had caught while I was by myself, so it felt awesome to know I had done it properly and the fish survived healthy. Here are the pics...First was me, Second was when Ryan had caught it....

Location: Oak Lawn, IL | I caught this fish in 2004 at 47". Another lucky angler caught her in 2007 at 49". She was caught both times in mid summer, but if anybody remembers, 2004 was a cooler year and the fish had a bit more girth. She was caught again probably less than a mile away from where I caught her.

NOTHING works all of the time... But this fish is 4 for 5 that we know of, and I'd say that's pretty #*^@ good!
MUSKIE QUIZ:
"Brokeback muskie" has been caught at least 5 times that we know of. From this fact alone, one could deduce which of the following:
A. Muskies are far less intelligent than most anglers make them out to be
B. All you have to do to catch a muskie is find a hungry one
C. Catch and Release works
D. A Muskie with a substantial deformity is less efficient as a predator, and therefore usually hungry and subsequeltly easier to catch
E. Who cares, it's cool!!

| Personally, I don't think the pics Vince posted and the pics you posted, Bill, are the same fish. Do a closer photo comparison and you can see that the markings between the anal fin and pelvic fins don't match up. The kicker is the spot on the cheek just forward of the gill flap - absent on the pics Vince posted, but present on all three you posted. Plus, Vince's fish looks a lot smaller than the one pictured earlier, but I won't play that game (oops, I guess I just did...).
Maybe I'm just seeing things, but it would be interesting if others noticed what I did. |

Location: syracuse indiana | e50 your kinda right, i didnt notice that at first but since my last post i had a chance to look at it again i dont think its te same fish either, i did notice the size difference and the light colored spot at the base of the tail is not on vince's fish and the color of ricks is lighter too. but it does show that these disfigured fish can still survive. it would be verry cool if vince's fish was the same, now he is in his lund and i know he has not had that boat in 2 seasons so that fish might be the same fish just younger, since it shows 07 in vinces pic.bill

Location: Minnetonka | Here's some nearly instant gratification of CPRing a big one. John Hoyer caught and released this 52" fish twice in 4 days in 2008. Same bait same spot... both secret.

It's interesting that this bent back fish is getting caught so often. It makes you wonder if this particular "handicapped" fish has trouble catching live prey, and has become more opurtunistic than usual. Basically eating everything it possibly can, always hungry. Has your friend seen it follow? or does it always just bite? |

Location: syracuse indiana | from what i have heard from the guys about this same fish, it deffinantly dont have a problem eating. and rick called me the other day and told me that it also was blind this year on its left eye, so that even add's another problem for this fish,, but it has survived and keeps on going thanks to good fisherman who care about these fish so much to make sure she swims away to fight another day....bill |
