Posts: 100 Location: Bemidji/Cass Lake | Ya something that special caught by 2 experienced guys better have better photos. I couldnt even tell if I was looking at the right photo or not but I think its the one with the guy in the orange because it appears to be quite a nice top half of a muskie.

Location: MN | I have always heard rumors from good sources of 60" class muskies swimming around the Big V. Awesome catch and congrats to the anglers!! Nice to see a big fish like that returned so she can continue spreading her good genes around. Edited by Mak51 10/13/2009 11:21 AM

| huge fish for sure. huge decision to release it. "They used their musky measuring stick which is 60 inches in length…they said the fish was too big to try and lay down flat and do the standard measurement with the tail closed…so it was laid down across Randy’s lap and they took their measurements that way…I mention this for closing the tail might have put that fish at 60 inches…( DNR uses that method with the tail closed for their measurements)….they released that fish to be caught another day…which says so much about these guys as sportsman…" it would be nice for one of these 60" class fish to be measured and photographed on a bump board rather than stick across the knees or put together net handles. interestingly the photograph is saved as "58 inch musky" on the VDL site, right click and save as...you'll see it listed. | That pic isn't going to go well with the critics. I bet they didn't want this pic up on this site and I don't blame them. Edited by Baby Mallard 10/13/2009 12:22 PM | |||

Posts: 229 | Definately a big fish but I have to agree, an experienced musky guy could AND would get a better photo than that. I guess I won't say anymore because I will soon be browbeat by people saying that I just need to congratulate them on their great catch and believe them... I say BS if you are claiming a record fish take a good measurement and get a good photo... Or else just shut up! John

Location: Des Moines IA | My guess is some magazine bought the rights to the story and the photos. I bet we will see it soon enough. who would catch a 59, release it, and not have good photos?

Posts: 21 | that pic doesn't show much besides a real big fish. Hope they have better ones. Other wise it isnt worth posting pics, just to get slammed back down.

Posts: 8863 | I think most of the people releasing fish in the 55" to 60" range are probably keeping quiet about it, and with good reason...

Posts: 198 | I have a giant fish pic but I'm going to wait until Jan when things are quiet to post it...... LOL I don't think the guys that caught this fish posted anything. It was posted on VDL site and copied and pasted over to here and probably elsewhere.

Posts: 378 Location: Michigan | Here we go again... I want to see a pic of a fish this size on a board, then with a tape around it while it's in the water. Its a nice fish, but photo is not very convincing. Edited by Chadster 10/13/2009 2:07 PM

Location: Oswego, IL | some people also just take a quick personal picture and could care less what you all think and maybe never intended to show anyone else in the first place. You all are completely ruthless! **Reminder: Not everyone is taking a picture just for your viewing pleasure**

Posts: 469 Location: Downers Grove, IL | Nice fish! The angler is sitting on a perfect area for the fish to be measured on......flat and long. Too bad they didnt put her there and lay the stick down!! Congrats and I'm jealous! Work sucks.

Posts: 727 | Congrats on the monster fish! You guys have to remember even handling a huge fish like that has to be tough, let alone measuring it and getting a good photo when you want to get her back in the water as quick as possilbe.

| I believe there is an actual photo of the 11.75 or 12 inch sucker depending on how you measured it, that was transported and scored the large fish...once that issue is settled more photos might be coming out...or the fish is from the east coast and odds are you can believe the size...:) | |||

Posts: 32955 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The angler DIDN'T post the image here, someone else did. The folks who caught this fish didn't post a thing here, and with comments like some here and in other big fish threads, probably never will. I expect we will have to offer a bit tougher moderation to keep folks reasonable, as much as that fries my arse.

Posts: 43 | I was on Vermilion Saturday, Let me tell you it was very unnerving to be on the water in some of the biggest waves you will ever see on that lake, I couldn't imagine handling a beast like that in those conditions. Great job!
