Location: Southern Ontario, Detroit River and Lake StClair | As I was cleaning up the boat after yesterdays fishing I got thinking about how many baits I carry with me (because half of them were all over the floor). I took a quick count and came up with around 225 baits. Seems like a lot.......how many baits do you guys take with on an average day on the water? After counting how many I took with me I got to counting how many I actually had and lost track at over 3 times that. I think its better left that way...........  So how many do you guys take with you?

| I take about 300 and use about 4. It's a sickness. Just so many pretty colors though. I have to have one of each color just to dress my boat up, lol. It's liking adding tinsel to a Christmas tree. |

| Two full tackle boxes, and some planos. Around 150 lures, and use 10-15 at the most on a slow day. Probably 5-8 different lures I use on an average day. I have had days where I never took off a lure because it was hot, lol.

That's funny. I'm about the same way. In fact I've had pretty much the same three lures on my 3 rods for the last three weeks. A Flo. Perch Manta, A Blk/Org Mag BullDawg and a green/gold dbl #8 Torrent spinner. My 16 yr old son on the other hand.......OMG!. He'll have half the front deck full of baits by 8a.m on some days......LOL.

Location: syracuse indiana | same with me. i carry 2 packed monsters and all the storage if full of planos ad baits and then i have my carry cases one has like 30 bulldawgs and another with 25 cowgirls.. and some days i change up a bit and some days im lucky if i change once....bill |

| The day before I head out, I pull our 12-18 baits that I plan on using on a specific lake and hang them in a 5 gallon bucket. If I am only going out for a day, I will try to only pack one tackle box (6x37xx boxes & spinnerbait case), and the bucket of baits. probably around 125-150 total. Having the baits in the bucket easy to access and ready to throw is much more efficient than wasting time digging through my tackle boxes deciding on what to use next. The extra baits in my tackle box is in reserve in case I change my plan of attack based conditions, structure I am working, etc.
If I am going for a few days, I will bring my other two tackle boxes (350+), but I still try to limit what I actually bring in the boat down to the 5 gallon bucket & one+ tackle box.
I keeping any baits I am using hanging on the bucket, less likely to step on a hook that way. When I am done for the day, I just grab the bucket full of baits and bring inside to file away for the next outing. |

| Usually around 40 - 50. I'll fill a Lakewood upright with baits good for the lake and time of year, and fill a plano with a handful of bucktails. Of course, I end up throwing no more than 10 all day. |

Location: So. Illinois | I take all but the bait box my wife has. Sometimes I cheat and borrow a few of hers on top of my 200+ baits. I used a total of 9 different baits yesterday but that includes 2 that were on trolling rods when I took a break from casting. |

Location: NW WI | Take about 100.....use less than 10....and it's usually the same basic 10 but maybe in different colors based on the clarity of the lake I'm fishing that day. |

When I was shore fishing I took AT MOST 5 baits. Usually it was only 3 and 2 were the same. One rod, 3 baits, release tools and a camera. Carrying anything more than that while shore fishing is pointless. |

50 different baits in a day??? I have roughly 270 hrs on the water this year and I haven't used that many baits all year
I keep 12-15 baits on the Lakewood pedestal - generally use 3 or 4 baits a day (there are 50-75 baits in dry storage that rarely make the rotation)...... Then there are the "decorations" in the basement -LOL |

Location: N.FIB | I fill my lakewood monster with baits and after using some have trouble fitting them back in the box,also a couple of planos filled with bucktails,and in my livewell I have about 5 baits in there,way too many but I never know what the hot bait will be.Sometimes I go to get a bait and realize that ones at home,I think I used about 7-10 baits yesterday when I was out fishing and had a couple lures on most of the time.One of these days I`m gonna fill the box up with baits that I never use and baits that I haven`t caught a fish on just to try to get some use out of them and maybe end up with a new favorite bait.That will force me to use some baits I feel I don`t work right or baits I don`t have any confidence in. |

Dude you don't know how we shore fish, until you understand that your comments mean nothing to us or anyone who knows how we fish. I would love to see you pound the same spot for 15 hours with 5 baits, have fun catching fish if they don't want those baits. |

Location: Contrarian Island | there are more baits than I can count in my boat....better to have them all along on a trip as you never know what they want...now this last weekend we went to Vilas, didn't take a boat as there was one up there...that weekend I took 25 tops..and really only needed about 12 of them..and could have probably gotten by with 5....as I know the lakes well...but you never know what the muskies will want any given minute so it never hurts to have a variety of baits...

This is how we roll pp!!! i call it the MUSKY MOBILE. it makes things very easy for us so we can take what we want with us. we have to walk about a 100 yards to get on the brakewater to fish. so we aint as dumb as you think, you just think you know how we roll.

could prolly even throw a lawnchair and some waders on there. maybe a case of beer if its really slow?
I usually dont take anything out of my boat unless going with someone else,
that'll leave somewhere around 350+ dont even want to know anymore,
and like one guy posted above, on a crappy day, dont care how bad it is, I may bait wash for a long time, sooner or later, I will get the vibe when I put one on,
and I will raise a fish, get a bite, or land one. I will find a "tool" for that day.
people laugh when they see the pile of stuff I go through on those tough days, but really, I think there is always something that will get under that fishes skin and make it come unglued. |

Location: SE Wisconsin | In my boat, usually a Lakewood box with options. In a friends boat, a shoebox or bucket with usually 2 topwaters (tail bait and walk-the-dog), 2 bucktails, two Dawgs and usually a 2D or 3D (as of late). . . Guess it always depends on where we're going and if we're planning on deep or shallow or both. To answer more definitively, usually 6 - 8 lures with me in another mans boat.

" agree with bringing less baits, but if that's your thing..... Try a a luggage cart, or dolly (Wheels). Add some tarp straps to secure everything, and you're good to go.
I personally would do the backpack thing, with less baits.LOL"

Being without a boat, and now without a job, my options are pretty limited. I used to fish with guides, but I was never one to just use their stuff. You'll never learn anything when someone hands you a lure and says "throw this lure"...
So, typically? I'd guess there are 150 lures in my tackle bag, counting bucktails and spinnerbaits. I'll usually bring that with me. In a given day, if I use 10 lures, it was a tough day. I've had days in Canada where I used two. |
