Location: Twin Cities | Temps pretty much don't matter as they haven't changed in 2-3 months. Maybe the surface 2 feet has changed from day to day, but the deeper area's are unchanged...no wonder this pattern has lasted for 3 months!

Posts: 118 Location: Minnesota | That will all change after the 30 mph wind on Sunday and Monday! Edited by W8N4SNO 9/25/2009 10:55 AM

Posts: 118 Location: Minnesota | The winds did cause the temps to fall. (On the surface) So you're telling me there is no thermocline at 80'? That water is now into the mix with the dropping temps and sustained winds. Edited by W8N4SNO 9/28/2009 6:07 AM

Location: Twin Cities | I've been monitoring temps at various depths for quite a while...there is/was MINIMAL mixing to be done, hence why in the first few hours of some wind (which we haven't had for a long time) the temp plummeted. Surface temp (what 99% of people monitor) is a terrible indicator of what's going on below.

Posts: 697 Location: Minnetonka | JR- Thanks for checking the true temp for the team. I know most of us do not take the time with the ol' Deptherm this time of year, or ever, and I personally appreciate the concrete data. According to your samples, would you say there is no thermocline currently? Does this mean the lake will not turn over this year? Thanks man. Andy

Posts: 619 | I agree, good luck. i dont think its entirely due to water temp. all the fish have been caught about 5xs a piece, can you say overkill and conditioned

Posts: 544 Location: WI | Spent some time out this week and managed 13 follows and a 48" in the net. I'm convinced I will never catch a daytime musky on a figure 8 on this lake. Doesn't take too much to spook them. Surface temps this morning were 57.5 closer to open water and I saw 52.5 in shallow. Wouldn't mind a warm up instead of the white stuff in the forecast.
