Fish of a lifetime for sure...but they come bigger.
I have been stalking this fish for over 12 days. First saw here July 26th as I was looking for new spots, but couldn't get her to eat. Weather looked ugly, so thought I'd go visit friends in different part of MN. I wanted to be back on Vermillion for the full moon. Saw her again the 4th, but no go. I fished the spot at least 3-4 x a day/night and camped on her for 5+ hours over the full moon phase. I fished other areas near by and saw only one boat fish the spot, so it's still a secret...not on the East end. Then today right before the storm blew over I thought I give the spot another try. Fished the boulders where she'd come from the last two times and nothing, worked around the reef up to the saddle and still no fish. I turned the boat to work back over and tossed my 10's parallel to the island and she hit right away. After some not so fun air tricks and a few runs, I had her in the net. It was a struggle since I was fishing solo. This fish is by far the heaviest I picked up and needed all my strength just to hold it for the pictures. I was shaking for hours and full of adrenaline. Wish I could make the MuskieFirst trip here in a few weeks, the fish are turning on!

ask yourself: would i work that hard for a fish?

after spotting a big girl, do you keep coming back multiple times per day or week or each time conditions change? this kind of dedication is hard work, and i think it's fair to say that many would move on.

kudos to Andy for knowing that she was still there over all that time and sticking with it until things finally came together just right!

Awesome fish Andy! Really something that you did it all alone - that's a LOT of fish to scoop into a net with one hand. Great pictures too.
