Well if i want to catch my first muskie of my life and this year i need to hurry up. You see starting sometime in September i wont be one this site for about 13 weeks and this is not because i dont want to visit my favorite site. It is because i will be in Paris Island South Carolina training to be a United States Marine. And then i come home for 10 days in which time i will definitely check on everything i missed in the muskie world. Then its off to 28 days combat training and then MOS school. So with so little time left before i go i started thinking of things i want to do before i leave and the only thing i could really come up with was catch my first muskie ha. So wish me luck on my mission to catch one and just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for being awesome and im sure while im there this site will pop into my head from time to time.

I'm very proud of you Mr. Bald Eagle. I hope you get your first soon. Here is an offer, if you are interested. I'm in the Minneapolis area, and Southwest Airlines now flies into the Twin Ciities (a Bada-Bing & Bada-Boom from Pitt ). If you get here, and can rent a wreck for my use, you may use my truck. boat, and tackle. I have a fairly nice house with a private downstairs are if you and friend would care to stay locally and fish local "Metro" lakes. I'm 17 miles from the Gray's Bay Minetonka boat ramp, otherwise Mille Lacs is a hop, skip, and a jump. I'm actually fishing for the frist time the first week of August, and the again the weekend of the 21st, but other than than I'm wide open. There is no way I can pay back for what I didn't do for our country, but at least take care of those that do and are willing.

Kindest regards,
Clark Anderson Bloomington, MN

Well I havent picked a MOS yet. They said for the reserves they are real specific and they need to tell me which ones i can chose from. I signed the papers today and Wednesday i go down to take my asvab and physical. Then i chose my MOS the beginning of next month.

Baldeagle,
Congrats on your decision to join the World's Finest. Best of luck at Paris Island.
If you're joining the reserves and in PA I would suggest CH-53 Aircrew as an MOS 6173 there's an excellent squadron over in Willow Grove 6113 and 6323 aren't bad options either unless you were hoping to be a grunt. Feel free to PM me I'd be happy to answer any questions about the Corps for you.
Make sure to check in when you get back from boot camp so we can all offer our congratulations.

I will make a similar offer to what the other gentleman did. If you can get out here to Minnesota my boy and I will take you fishing for 3-4 days depending on when you could come. We're taking our vacation first week of Sept. Or you could take him up on his offer of the use of his boat if you want to stay longer and we'll help you while we're there. I live south of Twin Cities a bit but we'd go north and camp on one of the prettiest lakes around. Just bring yourself, we've got all the gear. Can't guarantee a fish, it is after all muskie fishing, but I wouldn't doubt we could put you on a few and get you hooked up. Otherwise good luck and stay safe, and thank you.

As an update, I have been corresponding with baldeaglefisherman for the last couple of days.
At this time next week he will be on a bus to Pittsburgh and spend the next few days with myself, Dave S, PamuskEhunt and doctorsting.
He will also attend our local club meeting. Hopefully by the end of his stay baldeaglefisherman will have caught his first muskie before going to basic training.
Watch for further updates on his mission to catch his first muskie.

Well as an update on my status with the marines I took my ASVABs and did relatively well scoring in the 88 percentile and took my full physical (not fun) and passed that as well. So my next step is to chose my MOS and then go back down to harrisburg and be sworn in that will probably happen the week I get back from fishing with Rich and then I wait to be sent to basic. And I would just like to say even if I dont catch a fish with Rich and those guys it will still be a great trip fishing with some muskie guys and I cant wait to go.

Rich,
You are truly a class act, sir. Baldeaglefisherman, you are in good hands with Rich and company, they get more muskies to visit the net than many, and are EVERYWHERE there's muskies, it seems. Enjoy your time with those guys, it'll be a great trip. Be safe, serve well, and allow us all to thank you with a trip or two when on leave or back from deployment.

Tyler, I would like to do my part in helping a man out who is willing to do what your doing! I can't thank you enough for helping keep my family safe and letting my children grow up in a FREE country! You have an open invitation in my boat on the Youghiogheny River(YOK-O-GAY-NEE) which is 35 miles South of Pittsburgh (45 minutes) whenever its convenient for you! Thanks again and God Bless!

Congratulations on joining the Few....the Proud....the Marines. You have joined a brotherhood that will last your entire lifetime. I went through Parris Island in 1964. Spent nine years in the Corps. Choose good friends, pay attention to your instructors and conduct yourself with honor. I am proud to know you are not only a muskie fisherman, but a soon-to-be Marine. Good Luck!!

On the last day of my trip with Rich we got my first muskie! Caught on a Newmans 7in Natrual Jerk. It was 40.5inches and Rich will posting a picture when he gets a chance to resize it. I didnt need to catch that fish the trip was already awesome got to catch some flatheads last night which was sweet. Plus I got to meet some of the nicest people I have ever meet. So catching the muskie was just a bonus but it was a nice bonus.

Thankyou for your service. From one vet to another, you work for all of us. I will be fishing the St croix river out of Hudson August 14,15 and 16th. I have an open seat in the boat and it is yours if you want it.

Well baldeaglefisherman and myself just got back from a local club meeting.
Tyler was a hit showing off the picture of his first Muskie.
It's been a pleasure to have him around for a few days, he is a fine upstanding young man.
I'm glad that I could help him accomplish his mission of catching a Muskie before heading off to basic training.
As promised, here is the picture of his first Muskie.

Well I just got home from my trip. And to describe it in one word AMAZING. It was probably the funniest time I've ever had. I got to meet CJ and Kali two lovable pooches. Plus I got to meet a few members of this site which was cool. I got to attend a muskie meeting which was awesome and very informative. I got to go camping and had some laughs with some really nice people. Rich and Tammy were sooo nice and made sure I had a good time plus they make good food. I meet some of their family as well and they were just as nice and made me feel right at home. I got to go flathead catfishing which was very cool (I learned it's better to set the hook when the reels engaged). And I also got to catch my first muskie which was great but I wouldn't say it was the best part of the trip. I wouldn't trade the memories of this trip for anything and the friendships I made. Hopefully someday I will cross paths with the people I meet.(I would even buy the bus ticket next time) So I would just like to say thanks to Rich and Tammy for everything and it means more to me than I can put in words. THANK YOU.

PS-I forgot to mention about how I forgot my wallet which had my bus ticket at Rich's house so he had to speed home and get back before the bus left. He came through again getting back about 5 minutes before the bus left.

Glad to hear you made it home alright and you enjoyed yourself Tyler! It was great being a part of it and seeing your success and happiness along the way. Nothing will beat that feeling, even when Howard introduced you to the club and had Rich share your story, and everyone applauded you. It's not everyday you meet someone as helpful and genuine as Rich and Tammy. You now have some connections out here and don't ever hesitate to contact any one of us. Evan
