| How are people doing on Tonka.
I have only been out three times so far.
I have had a lot of follows but havent boated a fish yet.

Location: MN | Fished one evening this week,,,, lots of follows but no eaters. Buddy saw a 50+" fish and we raised about five more, all spooked about six feet from boat. Heard from a friend that one over 50 already caught this week. |

Location: Maple Grove | I know of bigger fish being caught. Not by me though. Same report here as above. Moving lots of fish but they are skittish and taking off 6 to 10 feet from the boat.

Location: MN | Wow, just experienced my first summer-weekend-Lake Minnetonka boat ramp experience. I cannot believe how many people were on the lake and using the ramps. The little boat ramp in Wayzata had cars parked blocks away in the Bay Center Parking Lot, same with the Gray's Bay ramp... many trailers not even at the ramp. I finally said to heck with this as there was an easy 10min. line to launch at Gray's Bay and who knows where people were parking, all spots in the lot were filled. Anybody fish the nice sunny weekends on Tonka?... seems best to launch at 10pm  |

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | Tonka tends to be a fish early and get off the lake by 10:00 a.m. lake on the summer weekends. I miss fishing that lake. But I don't miss the traffic!

| Was out early A.M. mid week and had a low to mid 40's explode on a Weagle. She missed it, so no chance for a hook set, but it was sure fun to see. It was about 20 feet from the boat.
Threw a variety of spinnerbaits, bucktails and jekbaits too, but the only fish I saw was on the Weagle. |

Location: Minnesota | Fished Tonka on Saturday afternoon till dark, we boated 2 fish on jerk baits. Both fish were caught between 7:30 and 7:45 pm. Lots of nice eye candy coming out for our viewing pleasure too! |

| In Dick Pearson's "Muskies on the Sheild" video he shows and explains what he calls the "scechie effect" (Spelling??)...
Well, it was happening big time on Tonka yesterday afternoon! Once I was able to get a feel for these spots it was like clockwork...the muskies were there in numbers! Unfortunately my wife was on a mission to run the dogs on the islands or I would have hung around all night, but I did get a chunky 45 and lost 3 nippers in 1/2 hour. I'll have to make a mental note for next time. |

Location: MN | There always seem to be fish going somewhere on Tonka! I fished last night for two hours around dark and moved nothing. Focussed on a some weedlines that should have been getting wind during the day. Fished some heavy bait concentrations out suspended off the breaks but no muskies showed themselves. |

Location: Minnetonka | Thanks, Tonka Boy... I will keep my eye out for a little Seiche action out there.
The fish have been changing their attitudes a little with the warming water, but have meanwhile been eating a few baits per week for 'Skie Patrol and crew. The Muskie FIRST guided trip that John donated was a success, with the team boating one nice muskie and having 2 other bites. Tuesday started out promising, w/ 6-7 fish following baits in the first 1/2 hour. Wednesday we boated a nice weed edge muskie as well. Storms in the forecast again today...
Catch 'em.

Location: MN | Fished with Josh Borovsky yesterday. We put three in the boat and Josh hooked/lost one more. Eaters were in the mid-upper 30inch range, lost fish looked low 40s. Moved around a dozen including a handfull of Tonka Tankers that pushed the 50" mark with ease. Fish found both shallow and deep. Thanks to Josh, awesome trip.

| Tonka has been good not great for me thus far this year. The fish have been everywhere from deep weedlines to inside edges to open water, no one pattern that I have found. Gregg Thomas came down and jumped in the boat with me this last weekend and managed a few nice fish with our biggest being a 48. Filmed again with Keyes today and landed a few nice fish with our biggest a 46. Have not cracked the 50 inch tally but there are definitely some nice ones moving out there. |

| Gregg is a good friend who just had two days off from guiding at the same time that I had days off and we decided to fish together. Nothing sinister just two buddies hitting the lakes. As for innovative I would throw Gregg my playbook in a heartbeat, he is not only a great fisherman but a great guy to boot. I would say his PMTT record speaks for itself. |

Location: Bemidji, MN | yeah me thinks the same...it's not like flippin under the docks for bass on a 80 degree sunny day and catching 30 bass and 1/2 of them over 2 1/2 pounds! Any day you get a muskie in the boat, be it 35 inches long, I'd call it a good day! Looks like the Metro lakes are kicking out some nice fish lately! Keep the reports coming guys. |

Location: Minnesota | Fished the east side on Sunday, we were able to score 2 more fish on jerk baits. Size is getting better for sure. Raised one pig, but couldn't get her to go at sunset.

| Boat traffic is becoming unbearable on this lake.
Fished today for 4 hours with only one follow.
Is anyone catching fish in the shallow sand?
I see fish in the sand but they never seem to be eaters. |

| completely overun by pleasure boaters right now.... they are just nutzzzz.... tried to fish on a weekday night the other night and had 4 different pleasure boats run within 50-75 ft of my boat right thru my casting zone, even a sailboat going really slow could see i was casting and almost ran into me... gave em the finger |

| I have to say the pleasure boater are certainly frustrating but there are still fish to be had both during the day and at night. Bulldawgs on breaks have been the day ticket for me and my clients with DCG's being the night go to. Here was one we got yesterday, a rare day time fish.

we have the same problem on the madison chain, I'm waiting for the day that a skier falls within casting distance so I land a bait next to his head, they might think twice about going near some muskie fishermen next time! |

ya casting huge baits in front of pontoons really pisses them off when they come 40 feet from you. |

| yep, i say something to almost every pleasure boater that drives right thru my casting zone and can see exactly that i am casting right there and still drive thru so i cant even make a cast... if i dont say anything i think most of them think its no big deal and they are not even doing anything out of the norm. the more times i say it, i am guessing a few will start to learn to go around you. |

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | Most of the pleasure boaters out there probably never wet a line and don't have a clue what they're doing. Others just don't care. One in ten might take the hint that maybe they're getting too close when you cast in front of them. Frustrating to say the least.

Location: mn | i fish the swamp during the weekdays and then do some easy fishing/sight seeing on the weekends. I love the weekends out here. All the eye candy and for some reason the last 4 big fish in the boat have been fri or sat nights. Go figure. For me it seems dogs on deeper breaks are working as spencer said. But dont forget to dive and rise dive and rise dive and rise. There has also been a real strong shallow bite going all season so far. I was lucky enough to witness my good friend catch a 40+ pounder this weekend. Good luck think big and hold on!

| Does anyone know if it would be a good strategy to find shallow reeds and fish them with a rigged up sucker?
I have heard fishing the shallow reeds with topwater luers and spinners ahve been great, and i would assume it cant hurt to throw a nice sucker in there. Can Anyone offer any expertise?
Also, does anyone know of any hot spots near jennings bay or north arm? |
