Posts: 202 | If your in the area and your not signed up you really should think about it. The whole thing is not only a ton of fun but it is also for a great cause. Oh and a little kicker, the fishing in the metro area has been pretty darn hot thus far.

I broke down and paid a ringer from Bemidji to come and fish with me. It may be the best day or the lowest point of my life. Good luck to all contestants.

Posts: 3147 | you can still sign up and pickup registration packets at the Maple Grove Gander Mountain. Also on saturday at the awards ceremony at maple grove,,there will be a local shop that has 'fantastic" pulled pork and walleye fingers that will set up a booth/trailer so people can purchase food if they want to. Metro bite has been great,, Ive been out 3 times and hooked fish everytime 'havent landed all of them" but the fact that their biting is cool, Myself,TroyZ,Dock is in, had one day of 43 follows, This tourney is a great way to find out patterns on the metro by watching/hearing what everybody else is doing even if your not in it swing by the awards ceremony to hear what worked. I will be helping Paul with the fish registration forms at the awards HQ,,I KNOW you guys are gonna catch alot of fish with this warming trend going into what has already been a good bite "SO" make sure you fill out those registration forms "legibly"

Posts: 128 | Nothing on Indy. It seems like some lakes are on and those that are off are very off so far this year. 1st place went to a very nice elderly gent that got a 53" out of Waconia. Congrats on a beauty of a fish and his new PB!

That Waconia fish was a monster for certain. Totally amazing that no legals came from INDY. What happened? The first few fish somewhat scew the perception of the results but overall the results were quite average to slightly below average based on the results of previous years. For example a 42" always seems to land at around 10th place. It was also a little strange to here the top two finishers admit they really didn't have anything going all day except for the monsters. What did other people see or not see all day?

Posts: 32885 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | 497 Anglers fished the Hartman Series/MAC Metro Muskie Tournament this weekend on the waters of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The weather was nearly perfect as the boats hit the water early Saturday morning, with moderate south winds and warmer temps than we've seen an quite a while. Water temps were 60's for the most part, much cooler than usual this time of the year. Partly cloudy skies and temps in the mid to upper 70's kicked the fish into gear very early in the morning and again mid morning, corresponding to a morning minor activity period. Many anglers reported seeing multiple fish during that timeframe, but little action later into the day. The Hybrids seemed to be a bit more active mid-day. Almost every technique known ut fish in the Frabill, from Jackpots to plastics, spinnerbaits and bucktails, cranks both cast and trolled, and gliders/jerkbaits. Over 30 fish were caught, and 19 qualified for awards in the ceremony held at the Gander Mountain in Maple Grove, MN. David Gustafson took top honors with a solo caught 53 " big girl from Waconia. He reported the fish hit on his eighth cast of the day, and smashed his lure boatside after a long follow. Another rig was working by, saw and heard the commotion, and assisted David with CPR getting the big fish back in the water quickly. First place was worth $2000.00, a weeks stay in a top rated muskie destination, and an impressive array of Muskie tackle. He also took home the Metro Tournament traveling trophy to display until next year. The 53" winning fish was David's personal best. His previous personal best, a 52" Cass Lake fish, was also caught in a Hartman Tournament about ten years ago. Adam Anderson took second with a 52" fish, caught as he was approaching the boat landing at the end of the day. One double was recorded by Tim Greene, boating 43" and 40.5" muskies in the morning for third place. Neil Mourning took the Junior Division with a 40" heavy bodied Tiger. The Minnesota Muskie Trail Metro Tournament has benefited stocking efforts for Twin Cities area lakes for years in cooperation with the Minnesota Muskie Guides Association, Frankie's Live Bait & Marine, and the Minnesota DNR, the Twin Cities Chapter MI, and many volunteers. The MMT and MAC merged in the winter of 2009, working together to: a) provide a national competitive arena and media platform to showcase the abilities and personalities of the sport's most skilled competitive muskie anglers b) promote muskie angling and conservation and to provide educational opportunities for current and future generations of anglers and c) showcase products and service that support the sport of muskie fishing. All MAC and Hartman Series MAC tournaments are CPR (Catch, Photo, and Immediate Release). Posts: 3147 | the pattern was???? dont cross the the Mississippi going west!!!! 90% of the fish were caught on the east side of the metro I worked at the fish registration table,, apart from the winner 53' and the two biggest tigers not much else from the west side none from Indy and none from Eagle a lake which has won the tourney twice over the years. nice weather nice prize packages and if you won one of the grab bags there was some good stuff in em.
