Posts: 222 Location: c.wis | when I still lived in fl, me and a buddy were out sightcasting for tripple tail/cobia in ponceinlet, we hooked into a bruiser tarpon , we got it boat side and we had no way to land the fish since we were in a small poling skiff. we headed over to a nearby beach on the indianriver side and landed the fish on the sand. we were fishing with 20lb braid and 30lb floro so we had to chase the fish nearly half mile through and around channel marker, and other boats- it was funny cause after the realease fish and game came over and told us to slow down in the slow no wake area, he said they waited cause they saw we were hooked up. he saw the fish from the distance and came over. he took the pic of us both holding the fish. but in madison. my brother was backing the trailer in and I decided to take a few last casts, we were a olin turvile and I threw my tw up near wingra creek while I waited. I hooked up and had to get out of the boat and land it from the lauch peir, the city had there weed cutters out and the fish ran up behind on of the barges on the side closest to the creek, so I had to get on the end of the pier and work him out. 33"tiger Edited by eric001 5/20/2009 7:44 AM

Location: SE Wisconsin | I did on one occasion. The fish wasn't huge, 38", but casting from the boat while tied to the pier made things interesting. Got out to get away from the possibility of the fish wrapping the line around the supports. It was pretty neat releasing this fish. . . walking her out to the drop off. Your muscles look kinda small. no, that guy is good shape, its good to see that because alot of musky guys out there are not in good shape and IMO alot of these guys should start hitting the gym and working out in the off season because there musky casting and by being so out of shape will be cut short, not only over the years but will get more tired throughout the day. i hit the gym hard in the off season to make the most out of those long days on the water and years down the rod and is really something to consider? they will turn into full time trollers, P.S PX90 would be a great program, increase strength and stamina or any type of exercise for sedentary folks will help increase overall health too. Posts: 264 | i read about a kid in the paper last summer that was wading in the shallows for bass, hooked a 44 incher then when he got it close to shore he succesfully wrestled the thing. The kid was only 12 years old.

Posts: 294 Location: Bloomer, Wi | I personally never had to get out but on a river trip down the flambeau I was fighting this heavy 41" in swift current when the boat got wedged up on a big rock, and my buddy austin jumped out and netted the fish like 10 feet from the boat. It was pretty sweet.

Posts: 135 | Yes, but not on purpose. 4 feet of water though, so I tried to make it look intentional. I think the fish was laughing when I finally got her in the net, while we were both still in the drink. l wouldn't recommend it, makes your shorts ride up.

Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | I got out of my one-man pontoon boat in Kodiak to revive a silver. He just would not revive and as I thought he was good to go, he went belly up and started to sink. I couldn't reach him from sitting on my boat, so I had to get out and scoop him up with one of my kick fins, filled my waders and was chest deep in 45* water. That fish never did revive, so I took him home and smoked him! That was my birthday, 2003.

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | I remember Mike Cookas telling us of river fishing in northern WI and he hooks this real nice muskie at night on the river and he often gets out of his small john boat to fight a fish. He did so this night thinking he was in a section of river that was shallow and he went in over his head. I was laughing so hard I never remembered if he caught the fish or not.
