Not me, I'm out there to dig the surroundings and get away from all media and all humans.

Well, I have found that the 50"+ fat chicks on Green Bay seem to especially enjoy Peter Gabriel, for some reason. They seem to be more active when he's on the radio.

Don't believe me? Just ask PointerPride--he was there!

I listen when alone, just to keep me on my toes. Keeps me less distracted, keeps me out longer. Kinda ends up making me use my baits a little more erraticly cranking/ pausing with the beat. Works well with rubber, slightly changes your retrieve every 3-6 min!!!!!!
I don't thiink the fish care about the music, my largest last year I was bumping the radio, in a aluminum boat. I gaurentee theres more vibes reaching the water in a tin vs glass boat.
If I fished quieter waters I may think differently, but with the amount of fishing/boat traffic here, The fish would starve if they didn't eat when they heard something funny.
Mp3 sometimes, backyard radio others.
However where your at.................I would place the radio on something to try to minimize vibration. Towel, jacket, something.
MIA Paper Planes was playing during some of my better action last year!!!!!

I have Sirrius on my boat system on most of the time... usually on Hair Nation or maybe some country....the fish don't care one bit...I've had plenty of big fish eat on figure 8s with the tunes rockin...now the lakes I fish are not exactly quiet remote canadian lakes where I could see that spooking them...

We have Sirius sat radio in our boat. Channel 46 ("Top Tracks" I think... classic rock) most of the time or Channel 54 (Lucy... alternative rock). When things are really tough we throw on one of the comedy channels. Also listen to a lot of baseball games when in season.

I shut it off around prime time/dusk or at dawn.

I never have listened to music while fishing musky but I've fished with football or baseball games on, didn't make a difference either way. Personally I think it detracts from the experience, plus musical tastes differ pretty often and it can be hard to find a compromise.

i thought most guys would say no cause they dont want to spook the fish. but like bomber said we fish lakes with alot traffic and noise so it dont bother them. we useully have jjo(hard rock) on and not very loud. but when a good song is on we turn it up and fish harder and rock out. a good song can give you energy to keep focused. if it gets tough i put on country, jeff hates it but i think the fish like.

Most of the time I enjoy the sounds of nature and conversation with the guy in back, but I will play some tunes every once in a while. I don't think the fish care about music in the boat, at a normal volume, wether the lake gets heavy boat traffic or not. Bill Sandy always has music in the boat. Litterally never turns it off. 3:00am and you can hear his boat rockin' out at the dock. He manages to put one or two fish in the boat every year

Pimped JL into the rig last year, so its tunes most days at least during certain times. I still prefer to fish without most of the time, but we have tunes on 40%, and jam 10-20% of the time(wide open when trolling GB). Some of our most productive days come while rockin to Alice Cooper, Savatage, Fugazi, or a little Waylon... Love the Sirius too, as I can listen to Wayne and Larry call the game while in MN. Don't have an ipod yet, but see my stereo is 'ready'. Any suggestions on a starter ipod or mp3 player?

8GB Ipod Nano is a good MP3 player....

Sometimes we jam the satellite radio, usually Octane (formerly Squizz), and I occasionally use my Ipod shuffle (slightly larger than a quarter) when I want to "get jiggy with it" and only use one earbud so I'm able to hear "GET THE NET"!

Something that hasn't been brought up yet- listening to music somehow improves my fishing concentration. It's funny it inspires me- like my own movie soundtrack or something!

I am starting to pack my ipod with songs for this season, I agree with you Muskellunged that it definetly makes me concentrate more and it makes me fish harder and longer, now if only Apple could make an ipod with a battery life longer then 8 hours because it sure sucks no being able to listen to it when I fish those 15+ hour days.

I don't usually - but when I used to troll with my old boat, Pink Floyd and Van Morrison seemed to get the fish goin'.

A couple seasons ago, I was fishing with Hoppe on Mille Lacs and he turned on Playboy Radio on Sirius. It was difficult to concentrate to say the least - I can't really say what the topic of the radio show was, but lets just say it gave me a new Idea for a rod blank!

Music? On the water? While I'm fishing??

If I have anything playing at all, which these days is rare even in the truck, it's Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Hendrix, a bit of Rush, or the like.

The only 'Rap' in my rig is what happens to a Pike I'm going to eat that night. Right on the noggin.

Due to motor issues I've mostly been fishing as a non-boater, so I haven't been listening to music as much. In my own boat I bring a small boom box and listen to Kings Of Leon, Fleet Foxes, The Whigs, The Black Keys, Son Volt, Soundgarden, Fugazi, Social Distortion, Black Stone Cherry, and some country. I've caught many species of fish while listening to music, and I don't feel it has any effect on the outcome of my day on the water. Of course I'm not blaring it either.

Pantera or Metalica or similar is the music of choice while muskie fishing. Radio or CD is always on in the boat or ice shack.

Golden oldies about 50% of the time and nothing the rest of the time but birds chirpin. Dead, Zeppelin, Stones, Johnny Cash, some Willie, etc. Hate the radio though. I don't think the fish like all of the commercials!

No way there's going to be a radio or a CD player going in my boat unless you're listening to it with head phones on. To each his own, but if fishing and the outdoors are boring enough to you that you have to have music playing in the boat, then you're not the right kind of partner for me to be on the water with.

Amen to that Hawkeye, I like where your head is at. But.....sometimes after fishing from sunrise to noon w/out the sight of a fish, it might be enough to keep a guy from throwing in the towel. If there was music in my boat it would have to be Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Fleetwood Mac, that sorta thing. I heard muskies cant stand rap, and go wind weeds aroung there ears when they hear it!!!

But if we're just sitting around the cabin or at the bar at the end of the day drinking a few beers, Sworrall's CD collection will work just fine for me, too. Jimi was the man (or Jimmy...)
