Yee friggan haw, Widespread Panic is again playing two nights at the 10,000 Lakes Music Festival at Detroit Lakes, MN (scheduled for July 22-25). 60 other bands and some guy named Dave Mathews are playing, too. I live in southwest Michigan. Last time I went to 10K I visited friends, camped and fished my way to the show. Rolling alone, like Stienbeck's book "Travels with Charley" except I have a boat and a tent. Something like 1,500 total miles of the best fishing/music roadtrip I've ever had. PappaJoe and I have done similar roadtrips to Dead shows, and he met me at the 2007 10K Lakes Festival. EssoxLady, in Minn/St. Paul, was the hostess with the mostest. All roadtrips are nothing but fun, but the funnest by far is the roll into and back from 10K Lakes. So, just in case there are a couple folks who are like-minded about combining jam band music and muskie fishing, well, this is the best opportunity you'll consider in 2009. Just ask PappJoe.

Got any 2009 roadtrip plans set? What 'choo gonna do?

I'll pretty much be on the road all summer. Draw lines east, west, north, south and all directions in between, and at one time or another this summer, I am there.

I'll do most of my fishing in southern Michigan but I do have 2 weeks of camping in the western UP in July/August. I might try the cisco chain.

Geez, I might have to rethink my plans. I was planning a trip to Vermilion with a day or two in the Bemidji area at the end. However, the 10,000 Lakes Music Fest sounds like a blast. Hmmm....

Ah, the dreaded road trip. That's the part of fishing that I hate. If I could only afford a float plane...

I'll be making to make some trips to the Hayward, Wisconsin area. Let's keep our fingers crossed price of gas hovers around $2.00 a gallon for a while.

I'll be staying local until the opener up north then fish the Minocqua area with Russ and Jake Smith one last spring until our move out to Colorado this summer. I've already been in contact with Michael Bishop in New Mexico, and once I'm established out there will be planning some tiger musky fishing with him. I'm also hoping to contact BenR and pick his brain about the musky fishing in Southeast Colorado. The boat is already in Colorado so I will be fishing with some friends that have been nice enough to give me an open seat until the move.

Not so much a roadtrip; but I will be living in Northeastern Wisconsin all summer with a buddy of mine...not exactly sure, but it's looking like we'll be staying in Rhinelander and taking weekly camping trips up to Vilas lakes. Looking to get a nice video camera to make a video as we're both fishing the whole summer.
Aside from that, spending a week in Canada on the opener fishing Sabaskong Bay and Crow. And there's no way I'll be able to stay away from Vermilion for the whole summer/fall.

Wow. Uhhh... Lots of stuff up in the air right now, but here's what I THINK my season might look like:

Madison for the S. WI opener
Vilas County for the N. WI opener
Oneida County end of June
Vilas for 4th of July
AML first week of August
AML again in Sept
Vilas for late Oct
Vilas again for the cisco spawn

I doubt I'll be able to do all of that, because of the time and money involved. The problem is which one do you miss??

money tree fell on the house here so i'll be fishing locally this year and dragging the boat behind me on sales trips throughout wisco and minnesota hoping to find some customers who like to fish. spent most of our time last year fishing smallies on tom, kawaguea and katherine which is a hoot!

prolly participate in the rhinelander league too ..

Heading to Kinkaid this weekend. Then LOTW the second week of July and the first week of August. North Twin in November and will try to get to Deer Lake end of September first of October. This will be my first year hitting LOTW twice in the same year, that is where I have most of my fishing funds allocated.

Sled spend some of the money tree, or did the money fall in fall. Hopefully jobs pick up around here or I'll be just fishing 10 minutes from the home during the week, no pressure. Sled or anyone let me know when your heading to TC would gladly get you out in the TC. Heading to Eagle in august, maybe lakers in may, then will see how far the wife will finance me.

Will be on the Big V the 3rd week of July and Last week August. Will be going somewhere in September for 5 days. I'm still debating where to go. I'm thinking Longville area or go back to the Bemidji area.
