Posts: 366 | Jaws is pure classic, but it is hard to beat A River Runs Through It. I watch it everytime I see it on, and have it on DVD. I've seen both dozens of times. While the pursuit of Walter is interesting, you can keep Jane Fonda bawling her eyes out.

Posts: 3165 | "Blood Hook" the only movie ever made with a muskie theme only one way to explain it,this movie is so bad/campy that it is great! rated has one of the top 5 "B" movies of all time by horror magazine. I arrange speaker for the Twin Cities chapter of muskies inc and always thought about having the producer has one of our speakers has he lives here in the twin cities

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | As far as the "Hollywood" fishing movies, River Runs Through it, Jaws, Great Outdoors, Grumpy Old Men. There was supposed to be some sort of fishing movie being filmed in MN a few years ago, Babe Winkelman was acting the Sheriff, never heard anything about it after that. As far as Doc's go, Okie Noodling was awesome, and The Old Masters of Muskie Fishing. Muskie Town was pretty cool too.... It was intersting my first year in Montana, they were shooting A River Runs Through It in Bozeman. I know a bunch of the locations and can point them out on a drive through town, kinda cool. "I'll catch this shark but it ain't gonna be easy, bad fish...." Cpt. Quint JS

Posts: 1 | Jaws is awesome, and happens to be my favorite movie of all time - However, a great movie with some cool fishing in it is another Hemingway piece in a similar fashion of the "Old Man" novel. It's called "Islands in the Stream" starring George C. Scott. Takes place in 50's era Cuba. Some cool marlin fishing footage, if you can find the movie.

Posts: 3920 | Grumpy Old Men because of the scene where the one guy (Jack Lemmon) finds his father dead. His dad is at the waterside with a fishing pole in his hands. His son sits by his side, opens a beer, and quietly comments that his dad was not forgotton by god after all.

Posts: 393 Location: Hopefully on the water | I'd vote Grumpy Old Men or On Golden Pond for Hollywood. Instructional I would say Greg Thomas's videos. For real fishing and entertainment I would go with the Badfish boys. Keep up the good work Greg and Jason.

Posts: 667 Location: Roscoe IL | Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole #*^@ thing.

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | I'll second, third and fourth, Blood Hook. It was the very first movie that I ever saw on VHS. Dad rented it and the VCR in 1984ish, popped some popcorn and threw in this 'family' flick. They actually caught a 30lber in the movie, Sawyer county. I have it on DVD now, fpr nastalgia sake. Wonder if it will ever come out on 'Blu-Ray'?? Edited by Reef Hawg 2/28/2009 8:22 AM

Posts: 2893 Location: Yahara River Chain | I remember "Blood Hook" back when it was on tape (early 90s). Me and a buddy rented it and had popcorn and laughed our a$$es off. Lost of stuff in there that we could make fun of. Then we went to a MI meeting and and told a couple how funny it was. The next meeting they were pi$$ed at us as they said it was too gory. I do like the Grumpy Old Men (both 1 & 2). Best ever. Ya smuck. I want to go sledding with Ann Margarette.
