| for those using lunas / indurons did you put power handles on them and if so did it make that big of a difference for db 10's? i use the lunas myself and think they are great reels but i have been using the stock paddle handles on them... |

| I prefer to cast and reel lefty too. For Cowgirls, I normally use a Shimano Calcutta 401TE with a power handle. Works well. I find that the power handle makes a difference in grip mostly, giving me more options on holding the paddle when cranking.
I also have a righty Shimano Trinidad 16N for Cowgirls. Much larger reel with greater line pickup that allows me to really burn a Cowgirl.

| I'm not a lefty but I used the Abu Toro with the 5.4 gears last year for CowGirls and it worked great and it's available in a lefty model. The Abu 7001i is also another option if you want a big reel for them. Both already come with power handles also. |

I'm not a lefty either, but prefer the crank on the same side as my spinning reel. Besides, I'll bet a majority of those that are left handed use right side cranking reels. |

| Any guys prefering the left side crank should really do themselves a favor and take a serious look at the 7001 I from Abu Garcia. The thing is a tank, already geared great for double tens, power handle is standard, and it's very affordable. Call me crazy but it seems like a no-brainer. |

I'll bet money that you don't look that way cranking a spinning reel. Do you?????
I've had people tell that they can't crank with their left hand. Then I ask what side is your spinning reel on?? The tell me left side. I though you just told me that you couldn't crank with your left hand??? Oh the reel is on the bottom. Yeah, like that matters. 
I really don't care what side someone cranks a reel one. But it seems that we go to great lengths to have sharp hooks, the best leaders, great line, no snaps, etc. but to suggest that you will impart better action on your lures, quicker hooksets, stronger hooksets with your dominate hand, this is not a good option. I don't understand. I still encourage anybody that is instructing a newby that they consider using their dominate hand to hold the rod. It will drastically cut their ability to be able to do these critical items I have stated above. |

No it does not come with a power handle. Just pm California_muskie or email him at [email protected] and ask him very nicely that you would like a power handle.
Dang, I missed that chat last week. I'll have to read what happened. Looking forward to finding out what's new in their muskie rod line up. |

It does if you are just starting out. I will agree that most angler after a coupe of yrs have it down, but a newby would be able to impart action on let's say a reef hawg a whole lot quicker than someone using their non-dominate hand.
That said I fish with a guy that has been fishing muskies since 1966. He switches hands while muskie fishing. To this day he can not get a jackpot to swing back and forth in one place. He also can not get a big ploop out it it either. I like fishing with him as I normally out fish him from the back for the boat. |

| The Avet is the lefty equivalent to the Trinidads. They pull in big blades better than any freshwater reel on the market. You can't compare them to TE's or 7001. |

| If you are serious about buying an Avet I would not purchase one without the magnetic cast control. I have one without it and the difference is very noticeable. The MXJ magnetic with 5.8:1 gears is the one to go with. Also, they come in alot of very cool colors. |

for comparison purposes, after looking at the avet website i see the sx models hold 220 yards of 20 lb having a 5:3.1 ratio and weighs 14.8 oz vs. the mxj model that holds 300 yards of 20 lb having a 5:8.1 ratio and weighs in at 18 oz. with all that being said, we all know we are only going to fill the spool with "x" yards of braid and use "filler" beneath so why not go with the sx that weighs in at 3.2 oz less with its' ration at 5:3.1 vs the mxj at a 5:8.1 ratio? does that bit of difference in the gear ratio going to make that much difference pulling db 10's? if not, personally i would think a bit less in physical weight would be a good thing. secondly, are these reels "specific" in that you would not want to use them for throwing heavier plastics or heavier jerk / glidebaits in addition to the db 10's? thirdly, if the avet is the "way to go" would it be a good or bad idea to get the two speed version for these applications?
