This board needs a little FUN injected (hey now) into the soul of what looks like a whole lot of unhappy folks that are just angry at the weather and cheering for global warming to extend the open water season. SO, I think we should play a little game....usually called HAVE YOU EVER? Yes, this is usually played with members of both sex after imbibing large quantities of spiritous or herbal party favors, but all we've got is muskie fishermen and women and we can't be as ____ as this game usually goes. BUT, I'll start off by asking a few HAVE YOU EVERS (which are all things that I have done [while muskie fishing]) and you can answer (or not) then add your own. This should be interesting!!!! Have you ever: -fallen out of the boat while muskie fishing? -gotten so lost that you had to ask for directions on the water? -enjoyed the company of a member of the opposite sex while on the water (in a biblical sense)? -been so surprised at seeing a following fish that you yelled/exclaimed/gasped "there's one" or "holy sh00t" or something like that, which led to the fish giving you the fin as she swims away?

Posts: 8808 | The first time I had a fish follow I was totally mesmerized. Stopped reeling and just stood there looking at it. The second one I scared off when I bent over to do a figure 8. That was after it scared me so much I yelled "wWAHH!, holy ****!!!" I've never fallen out of the boat, but it was only because the guy I was fishing with grabbed the back of my shirt and stopped me from going in head first when I was bendiong over to release a fish. I've stepped on baits, casted without pushing the spool release, set the hook (HARD) on logs, not set the hook on fish, pulled topwater baits away from fish that missed...

Yes to all ![]() Have you ever seen your fishing partner scream like a little girl because a fish tried to eat their bait?..this was due to stopping a floating jerk bait by the side of the boat (not going into an 8) then bending down to grab an open beer that is sitting by his feet ...big splash....loud scream... I still laugh out loud just thinking about it!

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | Nice thread lol Fallen out of boat? Yes Ask for directions? Yes Enjoyed the company of opposite sex? No The follow question? YEs Here's a few of mine.. Have you ever said you had a follow to your partner on a slow day, when you fully know the flash behind your lure was a dinky pike? Have you ever told yourself to keep paying attention to your lure, only to have a musky show up the one time you look up on shore at the cool looking rock? Have you ever started to drive away to look up and see your trolling motor is still down? Have you ever given up on a bait only to have your buddy put it on and nail a fish minutes later?

No, No, Not While Muskie Fishing, Who Hasn't, Yes, Yes, Yes, No, No, No flames had formed but lots of smoke!! Did you ever have a follow while muskie fishing before you knew they actually followed? First day I thought I was going to catch a muskie I got a Mepps and hit the water. Within the first 10 casts on Tonka I had a large object behind my bait. I thought it was a carp. I pulled the bait out of the water and kept fishing. Looking back it was probably a low 40" fish and fat. If I had only known!!

![]() Posts: 412 Location: Waukesha, WI | have you ever changed a bait and have your fishing partner change to the same one? Only every time I change the bait again. have you ever said "don't step on the rod tips" and guess what they do next? Too many times. have you ever used your prop to find the depth of the rock bar? Why else would I ask? have you ever driven you fiberglass boat through ice to learn that replacing a $600 keel guard costs $2600? No, but there's three at local dealer. Have you ever been in Norm's boat and been asked to face opposite the direction you're headed? Yes, but wouldn't oblige. ![]() Have you ever bucked your fishing partner off his seat and onto the floor? Almost.

Posts: 433 Location: Cedarburg, Wisconsin | Have you ever: Raced a wolf swimming between shores with your kicker and lost while trying to get closer for a picture? Looked down over the side of the boat while running wide open only to see boulders you never knew were there? Had a musky hit when you were so numb from an all night drive and all day casting that you didn't set the hook? Had to tie your launch rope to your buddies boat so you could pull them off the rocks you warned them not to hit? Had more than three trees snap in half from the wind while you were in your boat?

Posts: 3896 | hey now, hey now, aiko aiko un dey fallen out of the boat while muskie fishing? No, but once I knocked my young Golden Retriever dog out when I REALLY set the hook on a 12-14" bass (I was using a Topraider, I think) and the fish sailed in like a RPG and smacked him on the back side of the head. -gotten so lost that you had to ask for directions on the water? No, but I was once lost in the fog in the dark in a rock and tree infested lake. Took me about two hours to bump my way to the landing. Another time I was lost driving at night in heavy snow showers on Little Bay De Noc. Bouncing around the little lake was no problem, I knew I was safe if I took my time. Driving around lost on Little Bay De Noc in the dark in a snowstorm was very spooky. -enjoyed the company of a member of the opposite sex while on the water (in a biblical sense)? You bet. -been so surprised at seeing a following fish that you yelled/exclaimed/gasped "there's one" or "holy sh00t" or something like that, which led to the fish giving you the fin as she swims away? No, not that I can recall. While out fishing I once noticed a huge flock of seagulls flying high overhead. I don't care for seagulls so I put my fingers in my mouth and I did one of my shieking loud whistles. Scared them pretty good; they all darted to one side or another. Ha ha ha! I thought it was all harmless fun until the soft hail began landing in the water, in the boat, and on me. Soft hail? No. Greasy smelly white toothpast falling from the sky? No. It turns out seagulls $hit when they are suprised! Edited by Ranger 1/9/2009 11:29 AM

Posts: 1462 Location: Davenport, IA | Cast a mag dawg and have the reel lock up...and watch the rod go spinning at least 2 times end over end into the water (luckily the thick croix cork floats) Tried to push the boat onto the trailer from the dock only to dive in head first. Had the trolling motor deploy while on plane Hit a commercial net on plane...making the boat instantly stop Get stuck trying to get into a river backwater at wide open throttle Had a fishfinder screen cover nail you in the face while going WOT Dropped the trolling motor prop into the lake in 1' of water and not be able to find it (I believe a loon stole it)

Posts: 774 Location: South East Wisconsin | I have never fallen out of the boat! Yes to having a women in the boat! Yes for being caught off guard I.e. (looking at girls and missing fish). Launching the boat w/out taking the transom saver off. My one buddy and I get the voodoos when things get real slow. Makes for some good times! My best though having my chocolate Lab jump into the water and chase after my topwater! Funny but crazy! Good post. Shawn K.

Posts: 8808 | I've seen a few amusing incidents, courtesy of people who I will refrain from naming... 1. One angler went head first into the lake while trying to retrieve a rod he knocked into the water reaching for the net. 2. Another angler not only tried to dump the boat in without undoing the strap, but forgot to remove the transom saver as well. Which wasn't discovered until he got up in some skinny water about half an hour later and knocked it loose. "Hey, ain't that your transom saver over there?... "aw ^&*%..." 3. Hard to beat this scene: Jump starting a boat at the launch in late November by driving the truck down the ramp and hooking two sets of jumper cables together from the truck to the starting battery.
