Posts: 360 Location: Tinley Park. Fish Cen IL. Bass & Vilas Cty.Muskie | I understand protecting the Lake you caught the Fish when posting a picture or report. How about posting the city or town where the fish was caught ? Even if you give the town across the lake or next town over. This would give the reader just an idea of where the Big Muskie was caught. How about saying Boulder Junction area, Central Wisconsin, Walker area, Central Ohio. I just am just tired and fed up of reading Lake X, City X. Why even post Lake X, City X ? ? I lose some Value in seeing a picture of Muskie with Lake X, City X. Thanks for listening. Edited by basscaster 10/14/2008 4:42 PM

Posts: 86 Location: University of Hartford | the lake I fish on only has 1 town near it and it would be very easy to find if you knew the town and since I am one of the few that know about it I want to keep it that way. When I post pictures (rarely) of fish that I get there it will always be lake X, Town X and State/Province X unless its from eagle then its Eagle cause everyone knows my spots there.

Posts: 462 Location: Antioch, IL | Ok, I'll let the cat out of the bag. I'll probably be persecuted for this, but I feel it is my duty (Like that masked magician guy who reveals the secrets to all those old magic tricks) Lake X is.........................................Grass Lake - Antioch, IL. Prefered method of fishing is trolling a worm harness in 3 feet of water (since the entire lake is three feet deep). Celebrate your monster catch at Blarney's. Seriously, If a guy doesn't want to tell you where he caught a fish, respect that and just enjoy a photo of a nice fish and if your lucky a good story. No one is obligated to share anything about a fish/spot. There not even obligated to tell the truth when the do give info. Welcome to the web...take from it what you can. Can we beat this horse a little more..I don't think it's dead yet. Edited by Fish and Whistle 10/14/2008 1:10 PM

Posts: 639 Location: Hudson, WI | On the flipside, why is not relevant information where someone caught a fish? What constitutes Lake X in this world of information? I doubt anyone is going to pack up their stuff and head for a weekend on your lake because they heard someone caught a 46 incher out there last week. I can understand not wanting to air a lake where you put 9 in the boat and it's only 200 acres, but 90% of the Big Fish contest is SHHHH...Lake X. Nobody knows about any of the other lakes in Minnesota or Wisconsin apparently. What if someone says, say, Shamineau? Well, so what? In MN or WI everyone one of us has the opportunity to catch a fish over 45 within 2 hours, so I doubt everyone is going to flock to Shamineau based on a Big Fish post. Again, there are certain circumstances where it is warranted and it's the person's prerogative. Just playing devils' advocate.

Posts: 371 Location: Dixon, IL | I agreed with Big Fish Only! Illinois....easy to able to find! Near Bloomington then everybody know its Evergreen Lake. Northern Wisconsin would be different story! You can find some big fish by doing your homework, research and contact your location DNR. Trout Lake, North Twin, Tomahawk, etc have big fish in the past from musky books or Larry Ramsell's history books. Top 50 muskie Lakes in Wisconsin book is helpful! Minnesota, Pa and Ohio have some information about where to catch big musky. Contact your state DNR or join Musky Club! When I caught fish, I put down Illinois! If from Channel Lake or Lake Marie then I would put down Fox Chain. Check out Big fish contest in baitshop location or Vilas County top ten, etc.

Posts: 122 Location: Bloomington, IL | I figure if I catch a fish at any lake, its because of some tip or help that I received from people on here. So (if I ever catch another one again) I absolutly plan on sharing the when, where, with what, and how many times I jumped up and down like a little girl when I caught it. I get too much help from you guys to keep my spots a secret. Just my$.02 Edit: Hum....now that I think about it....me saying that might make people unwilling to help put me on fish, because then I would in turn share THEIR spots. Now I don't know what to think! ![]() Edited by scolba 10/14/2008 1:55 PM

Posts: 14 | I have to say I agree with lake x town x and all of that. It seems that when a lot of fish start being talked about in any one area fishing pressure goes up to a very large extent. The more fish that get caught and talked about in a given area make that place have more a a name for big fish, and there must be a lot of internet scouters out here that ticked and feel a story a a picture is not good enough. Personally I like seeing the picture a a story and i like it when people keep their mouth shut about where they caught it. Thats just my 2 cents.

Like you were going to take a road trip and find one of your favorites. Who cares where? Do your own exploring and find your own Lake X. Now if you'd like to find my ex, I'll give you her number. Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | esoxaddict - 10/14/2008 1:35 PM I prefer giving all the details of the catch and just not telling anyone who I am. Angler X ;-) Now THAT is funny...and a little creepy looking at the same time. Seriously though, I have a few fish I want to enter into the Lax contest. I really like it when I read what lake the fish have been caught on, especially if they are lakes near me that I can actually fish. However, a lot of people probably don't even know the lake I caught all of my 45+ fish on has muskies in it. It sure is nice to be about the only one ever throwing musky baits out there, and I admit to being selfish and not wanting to give that up to the entire public. So, as much as I hate to, when I enter my fish I will probably say they were caught from a "lake X." However, I won't be going so far as to far to blur picture backgrounds out. If you can recognize where I am from the pictures alone, you have already been where I am - several times. curleytail

Posts: 697 Location: Minnetonka | 3 most common solutions used for finding "Lake X": 1) Join your local Muskies Inc. and/or muskie club. Come watch monthly guest speakers and fish with acquaintances who may know what they're doing on Lake X, and may take you there if you swear some sort of oath and/or wear a blind fold. 2) Hire a guide - they all fish on Lake X. 3) Do the work - it's 1/2 the fun when you stumble upon your own Lake X. Posts: 360 Location: Tinley Park. Fish Cen IL. Bass & Vilas Cty.Muskie | I don't want to fish Lake X. I just asked if posters can post the area the fish was caught . I probably fish 30 different Vilas county/UP lakes a year. I am a explorer and hunter. You would not believe the trails I have taken my Ranger down, moving trees, the road dust in my truck and in my boat, etc. I am all for Fisherman X, if Lake X is used. There are 190 Lake X's around me. I just asked for maybe a town next time. I will stop now before I put my X in my X, Thanks > Fishermen X.
