Said Farewell to my Son today, He is leaving for a one year deployment to Afghanistan where he will be assisting the Afghan Army & Police with security & checkpoint procedures. We knew this day would be here for about six months
but saying farewell is still difficult knowing that he will be in harms way.

Praying for a safe return for my Son and all Solders that are serving

God bless and protect our Son's & Daughters who are fighting to protect our freedoms and rights here at home.

John,

Will keep him and all the troops in our thoughts. If he will be back in time for Operation Muskie 09 (June 29 -July 3) and he likes muskie fishing, have him get a hold of Bret Wold and sign up! http://operatiomuskie.embarqspace.com

John-You tell him thank you! I hope my wife and I never have to see our son or duagter go off. I know it would be hard. PM me his address when you get it and I will send him over a few lures. I got a few buddies across the pond right now and they all get a kick out of having musky lures in the desert.

John, thank your son for me as well. We'll keep him in our prayers and hope for a safe return. Let me know when he is back and I'll get the 2 of you out in the boat for a day on the water.

John:

I still remember your son well from your trip a few years back to the LOTWs. Hope he's safe for the year. Tell him that I appreciate his efforts very much. When he's back he can be in my boat anytime.

John, that is something you should be very proud of. I know it is scary, but he is a very brave person. I was in the sand the first time we went after Saddam. He is serving a very important mission, and should feel very proud of himself. He'll be in my prayers.

I spent 2 Christmases in Kuwait in the 90's. I am daily reminded of my time in the service. Your son brings honor to your whole family. His sacrifice is yours as well. Thank you - thank him and godspeed.

Thank God for men like your son who believe in duty and honor before personal safety. I will pray for him and all his comrades that they return safely. We all owe our freedoms to the men and women who serve.

Being a fellow reservist, I know the sacrafices familys will endure for freedom.
I remember a comercial I saw a few years ago that brought tears to my eyes when serviceman/women were going through the airport and people were clapping and the airport stopped for a minute. I hope and pray for all the troops safe return.

The National Guard opened the daily weigh in ceremonies at the FLW Championship with this video, and the crowd applauded after each playing...alot. Thanks again to all of our servicemen and women from all branches of the Military.

John, I have 2 good friends that left for Afghanistan just about the same time your son did. I will add him to my prayers. Both of the guys are from Decatur, IL. Maybe they are over there together. Tell him to look for Jeremy and Devin. They are two funny guys!
