Posts: 32923 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sue got her personal best today, and the big Pike were going goofy. Violent Strike spinnerbaits, Llungen Nutbusters, and the Weagle ruled the day so far. Indian Point Camp is full, and Allstate48 is here. There's a few others in camp who are fishing anything that will hit a spinnerbait, and 5 muskies have been caught to 48" so far. I've had a crack at two big girls, one I still can't believe I lost. Oh well, all of Sue's fish made the trip already! Hey Sorno I heard the weeds are so think there they feel like fish! weeds? only if you call those tall leafy things growing 30 YARDS on shore to be "weeds"...  great pics and video, Steve. sounds like a fun trip so far. | |||

Posts: 20248 Location: oswego, il | Can't see the videos, I have vista and last week this puter tells me I need the latest flash playrer which abobe says I have already installed. The comany I bought this puter from won't give me xp but will sell it to me for 200 bones so I have to buy it but not from them and next week vista will be a bad memory. Sorry to vent, Steve, you always make me want to get up there and fish. Thanks for the reports. I need to get my kids up there someday.  | ||

Posts: 32923 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | A conservation limit of 4 walleyes is in the fridge, plus an 18" smallie and a 4# white sucker also joined us. We caught about 25 'eyes, none over 18", which is perfect. Sue smacked 'em around pretty good vertical jigging. Walleye for dinner after we search out a few toothy critters this afternoon, then an evening of surface baiting for Muskies. I'll do a 'walkaround' at the camp, sure. FSF, fishing here is JUST like the Moen for the toothy critters. remember the 'slop' there? This year the water is high but falling fast, so the weeds are not as heavy at the surface but are too heavy to get a treble hook through most areas. Nuttin' on a Rumbler or Top Raider yet, but the Weagle has been red hot. Burgers on the grill right now... There were two nice fish caught in camp today, a 51 and a 47. Evening was slow, we caught a 36" Pike and a 34" Pike, and a few smaller fish. Had a mid 40's Muskie blow up on a Weagle, but no taker...maybe tomorrow, I'm taking a 15 year old aspiring Muskie angler out for a few hours tomorrow evening. he's been 'tolerating' vertical jigging for walleyes all week with his family ( they have done QUITE well...) and I think he's looking forward to the evening! Posts: 32923 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Water temps are low 60 range, but will warm quite a bit tomorrow. Water here was very high, but is falling fast, at least a foot since we arrived. The wind howled out of the West today with gusts to at least 25 MPH or more, and the Wabigoon was a whitecap. Sue and I got out about the crack of 11 AM, and the fish were off...only 4 pike for the afternoon. We got back out for an hour and a half at 4 PM, and the fish were going bonkers in the wild rice and on the shallow edges. We caught a dozen Pike and a couple good ones, and moved 4 muskies. We lost two of them in the first couple seconds; it seemed the Muskies were sort of snapping at the rear of the spinnerbaits. The fellow who caught the 51 yesterday got a 49 today, so the Muskies are going. I headed in at 5, dropped off Sue and picked up John, an Osseo WI 15 year old who is new to Muskies, but fished them like he'd been at it for a couple years. We tried to fish my big girls from earlier in the week, but 3' waves and howling winds drove us outta there. We did move a piggy, and saw two others, one of which blasted his Rumbler, missed, and did a surface slide after it again, and...missed again! Two casts later, a BOOM at boatside, and after a brief but very wet struggle, and 33/34"ish Pike was determined to be the culprit, John played that fish perfectly. He did very well his first time after the Goon muskies, and I hope to share a boat with him again soon. He did get a nice bonus smallie off the reef where we moved the Piggy. Posts: 32923 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The wind didn't let up a bit, but it did switch to South allowing us to get to some of our better water. We hadn't fished there all week, but the fish were where we expected them to be. Still had the dropsies, losing 2 in a row. Sue got her personal best Walleye, and I got a good Pike and a good Muskie. The Muskie SLAMMED a Llungen DC10 at the boat on the 8. All in all, a great day and a great trip! I can't even begin to count how many Pike over 30" we caught, and we did boat a couple muskies and a ton of walleyes. Bass were incidental, but we never tried to catch any, so we were happy with the few we got. Looking forward to the MuskieFIRST Outing at Spring Bay Resort on Vermilion next!!
