Eat fish. Now just settle down, I'm not talking about muskies. I know lots of muskie fisherman that don't like to eat fish period, and I'm wondering if this is part of the breed. It makes sense. Muskie fishing is a catch and release sport.

I'm a multi species fisherman myself and my favorite fish to eat is Pike. There almost always in good supply because not many people know how to fillet them. Which is fine with me. I prefer pike over walleye. Any one else have a certain preference?

apart from trout and salmon, I only eat sea-species like cod, coalfish, mackerel, herring, ... I love fish but I would never eat perch and pike, which are the species for which I fish in Holland and Belgium. To me that's like a rider eating his horse after he has finished riding his horse. I rode horses for 10 years and I never eat horse meat either.

You daggone right I eat them!!! Spring suckers, par boiled + made into cakes w/ various seasonings is awesome...shellfish are also high on the list although I know longer eat raw oysters as the crop here is a little unstable now. Certain fishes I put back such as L + Smallmouths but select harvest of other food fishes is one of the many benifits I enjoy from this area.[:sun:]

Even better with fried potatoes and cold bottle of Leinies...[:p]

Keep only enough for a meal put the rest back. I too like pike, pickled or fried/baked. Enjoy getting some nice crappie or perch as well.

Sunnys, Crappies, Perch are all great as well as the Sea food like Shrimp and such. Keep an occasional Bass from one of our many "freeze out" lakes. Which by the way look likethey al came through the winter in good shape. Funny how some of the lakesthat suffer the worst winter kill are often lakes that produce great fishing when they don't "freeze out" for a few years.

Let 'em go, so that Ashton can catch 'em.....Mike

About the only consistent amount of fish I eat is fresh caught canadian walleye. Have it 6 days straight for dinner. Bring a few home for meals through the winter and that is about it. 6 days straight is good, but is enough to last me until december.

Love Pike too, had it for the first time this winter, wayyy better than walleye, but like them too. To whomever is the lucky winner of JoMusky's retreat in the Ashton auction, make him prepare his blackened Northern, its Awesome!!! Coldwater crappies are good, never been a fan of gills or bass, too bitter for me.
Seafood- shark and swordfish are my favorites. Learned this after tailgating outside Rich stadium when I had Bills season tickets. When the Dolphins came to town, we tried to grill the real thing, but could only find shark and swordfish. Quish the fish,Quish the fish!!!![] []

I would rather have a cheeseburger than any kind of fish. Occasionally I will partake in a fish fry but once a year is plenty for me. Catch and release becomes extremely simple when you have zero desire to eat them. If we were fishing for crab legs though that would be a different story.

I love to eat Pike, perch, bluegills and crappies.
I would have to say that pike are the icing on the cake. If you clean them right they are by far my favorite fish to eat.

I would rather have a steak. I caught one to many bones in my mouth when I was a child, and decided I didn't like fish. The only fish I keep, are when I am with someone who will fillet them, and eat them. Or if they will fillet them for me so I can bring them over to my mom's house on the way home from fishing.

Hands down- Northern Pike. Breaded w/50% mix of Italian & regular bread crumbs & fried potatoes w/ onions on the side. mmmmm, mmm. Next would be Canadian Walleye or fresh Canadian Whitefish. But I'm a fish eater, I prefer it over steak. Perch-crappies, catfish, bullheads, salmon, trout, strippers, xxx ..............................................................snail darters, spotted owls, whooping cranes and eagle's, but no Muskies.

Although a ribeye or NY strip will frequently hit my grill.

I'm w/ Capt Larry for those all day excursions- From the Can in the Boat: Tuna,Mackeral,Sardines,Herring - gets the boat & your hands smelling right on those slow days.

Love Fish!
Love walleye and crappie!
I also enjoy Chilean Sea Bass, Orange Roughy, Swordfish (Vesuvio), Talapia and Salmon. Side of pasta and I'm set. Also all shellfish; baked clams, steamed mediteranean mussels in wine sauce and anything else. Might be an upside of living in Chicago with the Restaurants over here.

I'm 26 years old, and I have never filleted my own fish. But that is going to change the first time I catch a walleye by accident. If it's a big walleye, I'll let it go, but if it is a small keeper, it is going in the frying pan. The thing will probably be so mangled by my filet knife that there will be nothing left to eat.

I like just about anything that swims in the water except carp, catfish, and muskies. I've never tried either the carp or a musky but catfish is horrible! Walleyes and crappies taste a lot alike but Northerns are just as good as they are.

I can't wait for Friday Night Fish Fry!

Have to agree with other posts, beer battered Perch kick but! I do like small walleye and small pike but I cannot remember how to fillet pike without getting a bunch of small pieces and bones. A friend from the cities taught me the following fry recipe which is now my favorite.

Marinate fish fillets in beer
dredge wet fillets in flour
dip fillets in egg wash
shake fillets in zip lock bag full of 50% dry shore lunch mix and 50% crushed corn flakes
fry golden brown

Yummy

Does fish & chip count?

If so I still need a lot of ketchup to swallow it after taking the bather off and eating it like it was the whiped cream part of a desert. [:sun:]
