I like Keyes Outdoors because they make you feel like your right along with them in the boat. And because they are still showing new episodes where the others have been re runs for over a month allready.

Keyes for me....For some reason, these guys just seem the most down to earth. They never dispaly any arrogance or 'over-confidence' (can't find the right words there..) They're always excited and hungry for the next battle!!

I like simply fishing, I learned alot on how to accuratley "guestemate" the length of muskies without puting a tape to them. Saves time on fish out of water time and allows me to make 45 inch fish 51 inches everytime

I did not vote, i like all of the shows and think they are great. Unfortunately keyes outdoors is not shown on Comcast cable in my area. I am sure I would like that show as well.

This was my first season of FSN on the dish. I thought all the shows you mentioned were solid. I can't say that about all of the shows they run. Since when did pulling seven sixteen inch walleyes through a hole in the ice qualify as the basis for a half hour fishing show? Yes- apparently Direct TV does have " Ice Fishing With The Stars"
My favorites are still the same- Ang. Edge, and In Fish. It might be unfair to compare regional shows againts these National shows, but look how well they are edited and narated, they have solid underwater footage, good use of charts and electronics and very good tactical explanations. They are a pleasure to watch. Check out this clip-

Hmm. I'd have to see the guy actually fishing before I decide I like his show.
My favorite show has to be "The Fishing Guide Show". If you've ever fished with Travis, you know why.

My favorite is simpy fishing, because I too have to personally handle every fish that is caught in the boat (even if I didn't catch it) and get a vpicture with it.

This is what makes me not like this show. I mean yes they do catch fish and you do learn a thing or two, but it all comes from the guide and he is the one who deserves all the credit - not the hosts of the show (I'm not saying the hosts are getting any credit but I really hope not). In regards to most their musky shows, they just hop in the boat with a guide and fish. Anyone on here can do that and I dont find that it makes their show unique at all. Find your own pattern, fish it yourself and boat the musky yourself - and make it something new to the viewer. That is what I find makes a good musky show vs Joe Blow with the sponsors and cash to get it done with guides. No rip on either of them personally, I have never meet them and I am sure they are good dudes. I am just referring to their show.

The Dogger, Keyes Outdoors has filmed plenty of segments by themselves. They also do pretty good in tournaments too... sometimes with the camera rolling. Really nice guys and awesome fishermen that film a good show whether they are with a guide or just out with their buddies.
Are you a fan of Fishing with Me? That kid films all of his shows by himself and is always on fish!

Mike films, produces and edits all of his shows which is more than a full time job in itself. Plus, Steve Genson is a full time guide himself and I'm pretty sure they catch fish on their own, off camera. With that in mind, they could make a very good musky show without any guides at all. They choose to promote professional musky fishing with guests that you and I can learn from and that is what I really like about them. They don't say, "Let's make a show about how good we are at musky fishing." They incorporate another knowledgable fisherman into it with the patterns they are on in a particular body of water and the show makes you feel like they are improving themselves as well as the viewer. And they are already a better stick than I will probably ever be.
Very good dudes on top of it.

I'VE WATCHED EVERY FISHING SHOW FROM GADABOUT GADDIS IN THE 70'S TO WHAT'S OUT THERE NOW AND KEYE'S ROCKS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN AS MANY FIGURE 8 STRIKES AS ARE ON K.O. THESE GUYS ARE VERY DOWN TO EARTH AND GREAT TO TALK TO IN PERSON - THEY ARE GENUINELY INTERESTED IN WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. THESE GUYS ARE WARRIORS AND VERY PROFESSIONAL.THEY DON'T O.D. YOU ON PRODUCT MENTION EITHER. ALSO NOTE THEY DON'T GO TO SOME REMOTE UNDERFISHED RESORT. SIMPLY FISHING'S TOPWATER SHOTS ARE FUN TO WATCH BUT THE GRAPHICS ON THAT SHOW ARE SOOO LAME IT'S HARD TO WATCH.

I knew this would stir up some of u folks..
But like I said b4 I am sure they are great dudes and work hard at what they do. They must be great guys as they do seem to love the sport as much as the next muskie crazy.
I just got off their website and I was actually amazed to see that they did alot more shows with guides then I even knew. This last season I only seen a couple of shows that a guide wasnt used and the PMTT stuff is not of them personally catching much and more or less just a tournement coverage episode. So like I said before, MY OPINION of what makes a good show is one where the hosts do their own thing and find their own fish and are able to make a show out of a day or two of fishing. If a guy can do this enough times to make a season of episodes that is great. There is no reason why anyone else could not have taken their place in the boat last year and not made just as good of an episode(s). They were just a tool used by the guides to catch fish while they're cameras were rolling. They did nothing on their own besides cast, reel and repeat. I will give the guides in all those shows some credit of getting it done when the cameras were rolling, it just goes to show you how good they are at what they do.
Yes i seen the episode where he caught that one fish by himself, that was great and is exaactly what I like to see in a show. Its just too bad that he couldnt produce more of that type of action for more episodes. I guess what it comes down to for me is that I would rather be on TV showing people new things on my own rather than just being the pipline that new information is passed through.

I understand what you are saying Dogger, but I think it would be a lot easier to grab a camera and a friend and film yourself fishing than it would be to buy production grade camera equipment, develop a relationship with guides from all over the country and have them on your show and get great footage that looks even better with careful editing. Not that easy.
Talk to Mike, Todd, or Steve at a show and see what they say. They will probably ASK you what you like about the show and if there is something you would like to see more or less of. IMO that is the right attitude. They are not on a high horse, promoting themselves. They are promoting industry professionals and trying to make the best musky show out there. Based on the poll, they are doing something right.
