I have some and theyare very good IMO. He ships quickly and they hold up well, considering the toothy criters we fish for.You can buy them on Ebay or order from his web site.

If you are talking about Tacklebooty then they are worth it! I like the new/current ones better than last years model. The ones he sells now are MUCH more dureable than Dawgs and I like his variety of colors too. There was a thread a little while ago about them,do a search, good info.Get them, you wont be disappointed!

How do you tell the differance between last years model and the new current ones ?

Thanks guys!

Last years was an internal/external hook harness and softer plastic with good terminal tackle but not good enough IMO. My cost to make this years SuperD almost doubled but I made it a lot tougher. I scoured the forums and got a lot of feedback from guides and hard core musky fishermen and made as many improvements as I could. Got a lot of new things coming for generation III too for mid/late summer! Not many things you will notice but I tweaked a few things to make the SuperD even better. Newer harness, slightly different polymer, new molds to incorporate some slightly different design features, etc.... I am a scientist and have worked 20 years in product development. I can't leave things alone if they can be improved even just a little...
James
PS-Honestly, if you see something with my lures that is weak let me know. I would rather see 20 emails/posts telling me my lures suck (and why) than one telling me they are great. Not that I don’t enjoy seeing good stuff but I like straight talk. I can improve my lures only if I know what needs to be improved. So let me have it!! LOL

The easiest way to tell the differance is the top hook.Last year there was a treble hook, this year a single.I caught several muskies on last years version,no need to worry about them...Paul

tacklebooty, can you put your super d with bulldawgs in the same container without them melting each other?

SuperDs, Bulldawgs, Shack Attack lures all play well with each other. Just don't store with FormulaX... My colors don't "bleed" either. I put my SuperDs into a 140F stability oven for 24 hours/day for over 2 months and no problems.

Not sure on the split ring pull rating but I can check. I went with #5 triple split rings on the hooks and nose with new ones as you noticed. My Generation I only had double split rings. Note, double vs triple is good but the real quality point is the pull rating. You can have a double that is a lot stronger than a triple so that is a great question Guest and I apologize for not having that info on hand.

hammy129, I hope to have a big one soon. I need to say "Thanks" to a friend Rick for making things go smoothly for me. It is the least I can do for him. He really wants me to put one out. So does my other buddy Dennis. They keep contacting me to inspire me to make more swimbaits in all sizes so I think I will soon. They have not asked for it yet but I am sure they want me to make shallow versions of my regular and magnum size lures. Just waiting to hear from them again to make sure they want me to make these.... Do you like shallow running swimbaits? I think they have a place and time but most seem to like the heavier swimbaits. Helps when you can chuck those out a lot further

I have about 50 of the Super D's sitting in my porch at this very moment. Booty was generous enough to donate them for Operation Muskie, and we are going to put them through their paces up on LOTW. Right now they look AWESOME and I can't wait to get them out on the water and let some toothy critters eat em up. I love all of the different colors that they come in, much broader selection and schemes. Top quality lures and maker!

That's great that a tackle company of that size shows that amount of support for our soldiers. Not only does James make great lures, but that says a great deal about character that can be lost in the scheme of things with larger companies. Glad to see that some still care about the people and not just the money. This is not to be taken as all companies do not care about people.

Bret, I have a lot more coming for you and those guys/gals as well as the onsite supporters!!! You WILL have literally 100s of my lures by the time your event takes place! I challenge ALL manufacturers and retailers to do the same!!! This is NOT an advertisment for a business or lures but a personal way to say "THANK YOU!" to our soldiers. I don't want my kids to have to go off someday and fight in a war. If you know some guys who like to fish, send lures overseas to them. Best picture I saw this year was a guy fishing in one of Sadam's private stocked ponds. LOL he had that smile on his face like he was fishing his favorite river hole! Those guys miss family and fishing a lot. Anything they get from all of us to remind them they are appreciated is great!

I bought some of Tacklebooty's baits off Ebay over the winter. I haven't had a chance to see what they look like in the water, but for the price he charges I am impressed. Lots of colors to choose from, and the Youtube video convinced me that they will hold up a lot better than the other popular brand does.

It's also really nice to know that he cares about the lure quality, and listens to customers. Glad to see not everyone is completely tied up in getting every cent of profit possible!

I know folks besides myself anxiously awaiting the larger sizes. Get after it already! You probably couldn't make them fast enough if you can keep the same price scheme (as compared to the others in the market).

I just picked some up off Ebay. After watching the video and comparing prices I had to give them a shot. They look good and have good action in the water. The opener is next weekend, I'll see what the Muskies think!!!

I second the comments on the pounders as well !!

James I love the shallow Dawgs. They are outstanding in the early season thrown over the top of emerging vegetation. This same technique works great in the fall, also. There is no way that I can throw a regular version where I am using the shallow version.

Build a shallow Super D and I'll buy several.

Shallows are easy to make too. Same internal harness but very little lead on the head. Have yet to try it but there is also a polymer that floats that you can make soft poly lures out of. Would love to make one that has a drop rate of about 2-3 inches per second or a neutrally bouyant SuperD. Too many lures to make and to little time This is just my hobby too. I have a full time 60 hour a week job and a 2&3 year old on top of the lures. What a fun hobby it is though. My son already loves to "help" daddy ship. Daddy some times thinks differently when he has 30+ orders to go out in 1 hour and half are international. LOL

Funny, I was just hounding you about the ShallowDs. Make them and I'll buy them. No need to get too fancy. Same bait without the weight. I've grown to like the shallow dawgs better than regular magnums. I can work them so much more erratically.

hello my name is josh. i own some super d's and i will tell u what they look at lot better than a bull dog in and out of the water. If u look at a super d's head compared to a bull dog u will like it better. If u cut a super d open and look at the harness it is a lot better, and most importnantly for all u dog fisherman, no more need to change out all your splitrings to triple slit rings because the super D COMES WITH TRIPLE SLIT RINGS ON IT. In all a better built bait that is saving us fisherman money, And put it this way if a bait works and holds up better than a dog how can u go wrong!!!!! Thanks for the great swim baits james. I really like the fact that you don't bend over Canadian customers with insane shipping rates like other vendors do!

Can't beat $6 shipping..

I pay some on S/H for both Canada and the USA orders but it makes it easy for everyone vs those complex S/H charts many have.
