Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | And We will be using it... Let me know what you'd like to hear and see from the world of the underwater, and I'll see what we can do to get it recorded audio AND video, and played high quality from the FIRST servers... Test tomorrow to see what noise a crappie makes hitting a jig. Watch upload.outdoorsfirst.com for a video...and no worries, the music won't get in the way of the audio track.

Posts: 8781 | Do muskies fart? Does it make a sound? Do hapless baitfish scream in fear seconds before they get chomped by hungry muskies. What does it sound like when a muskie eats a sucker? Do they say MMMMMM! after a meal? So many questions, so little time... On a more serious note, I have always wondered what a creeper-style bait sounds like under water, because that "bloop, bloop, bloop" sound sure is funny from above the water.

Posts: 8781 | I'd imagine that would make a pretty big splash, John. Probably laced with a lot less profanity than if I fell in. The real question is what does it sound like when you try to net him?? What I think would be incredibly interesting in terms of lures, though, is to take something like an Ace tandem, where you can change the back blade out, and see what different blade types sound like on the same lure.

Posts: 3480 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | A comparison of the different double 10 tails of some sort. A comparison between a jake and a grandma of comparable sizes would be interesting A comparison between the different types of walk-the-dog topwater baits Steve

Posts: 457 | Quick question, when talking about hearing these baits, we wouldn't actually be able to "her" the vibrations of the bait, if I am understanding this correctly. A Suzy sucker, for instance. We won't be able to pick up that tail thump that would transmit to a lateral line. Am I getting this, or am I completely misinformed, and misunderstanding it?

Another vote for Beleivers and Jakes, Plows too. Suick vs. Bobbie might be cool. I would also really like to hear a Bulldawg, like other guys mentioned.

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Yes, actually, you will. A hydrophone works by transferring pressure waves under water into an electric signal. Here's the definition: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search hydrophone A hydrophone is a microphone designed to be used underwater for recording or listening to underwater sound. Most hydrophones are based on a piezoelectric transducer that generates electricity when subjected to a pressure change. Such piezoelectric materials, or transducers can convert a sound signal into an electrical signal since sound is a pressure wave in fluids. Some transducers can also serve as a projector (emitter), but not all have this capability, and may be destroyed if used in such a manner. So in short, if the lure creates a pressure wave moving through the water, you will be able to detect it. Big difference between this and a microphone.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I would really like to hear what a Suzy sucker, Curley Sue/Bulldawg sound like (different sizes would be interesting here too), Suicks, crankbaits without rattles (Grandma), Pacemaker, Double 10 baits, spinnerbaits. Pretty much any bait any of us would throw would be interesting, but I would be really interested to hear the baits that don't make noise to us, like the big soft plastics and other jerbaits, bucktails, etc. curleytail

Posts: 457 | Ok, I get it now. Thanks for clarifying that. I really was confused, as far as vibration opposed to what we would know as actual sound. Makes MUCH more sense now!

Posts: 271 Location: davis,IL | I think I would like to "hear a comparison between something old and something new. How about a back to back between a #5 mepps and a double ten bucktail (cowgirl). I'm curious to see or hear if there is a big difference in sound, like volume or pitch.

Posts: 140 | I'd like to see a comparison of the various blade styles,i.e. in-line, french, fluted, willow and the #10's. Also, crankbaits w/o rattles would be interesting to see if there's some inherent sound. The Drifter website has the sound of most of their baits listed. http://www.driftertackle.com/products/believer-video.php

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Cool, then we won't need to record any of the Drifter baits on the Aqua-Vu or the hydrophone; if they wish they can post the video they have to upload.outdoorsfirst.com. We will definitely have all the spinner blade sizes and styles represented, for sure, I am interested in learning what the different brands offer as far as total footprint above and below the water.

Posts: 84 | Regarding the Drifter baits, if you check the website, they claim to have videos for each lure type but clicking on them defaults to the same believer video.
